I can only imagine the look of exasperated fondness on Elphaba's face when she did it. 😅 Also, I love how the film leaned into using practical sets inside of purely CGI. Definitely elevated the film.

AHHHHH I WOULD LOVE IT IF IT ENDS LIKE THIS!!!!: dorothy is in Elphaba's castle and they have a confrontation or a duet of sorts, and then Dorothy tries to tell Elphaba (after understanding what is really going on) that redemption is always there and then Elphaba goes on to say it is too late for redemption and then tells Dorothy that she has a plan but she needs her help --- hense the scene with Dorothy "melting" she is in on the whole fake death. in the first part of wicked we see the scene with the hat but nothing else, then we see a horse riding in the distance that looks like it going towards the emerald city....then we see Dorothy with Elphaba's broomstick in her hand walking towards the emerald city too.....so....it could be like a final showdown battle with the Wizard and madam morrible once and for all!! The wizard will be like "so you killed the wicked witch of the west" and then Dorothy pretends to agree then dramatic entrance Elphaba swoops in and then Dorothy gives her her broom back and they do like an epic finale battle thing and then maybe madam morrible would accidentally reveal she is responsible for nessa's death as she was the one who created the toronado which brought dorothy's house there to crush nessa in the first place! then Elphaba would have a moment of realisation or something and would go full out on madam morrible and feel guilty for putting dorothy through so much. and then anyways they win the battle and Dorothy and Elphaba both come to an understanding and they both apolojize to each other for the misunderstanding. (Dorothy could maybe give back the shoes to Elphaba after learning what happened to Nessa and all that) then Glinda would come in and be in shock as to what happened and then would be so happy to see Elphaba alive and they would both admit to always loving each other (cringe i know) and then everyone lives happily ever after!! what do you think!!??

Aw man these scenes would have really helped! My *only* complaint (as someone who never saw the original show) was that there weren't enough moments like this to really feel that they had become such close friends to make Elphaba's decision to leave as gut-wrenching as it truly is. The Ozdust, Popular, and Emerald City scenes helped but more of this would've really reinforced their bond.

There's a concept in the arts called "killing your darlings" and it's clear why this was cut. The montage in Emerald City and the two good friends, two BEST friends" line kind of establishes them coming together during the trip. I get for fans of the musical we wouldn't care if the film was three hours plus but I went with two seperate people to see it my second and third times and although both enjoyed the film they both asked "how much longer is left in this movie" lol

The movie is almost 3 hours. So a cute date between those two can afford to be cut.
