Wicked being a musical spinoff of the Wizard of Oz isn't exactly my idea of entertainment, but the interviews definitely are. It turns out when you get this many ego's in one room and they all lie to each other, hilarity ensues. When Wicked is a re-writing of The Wizard of Oz's history to try and excuse evil, it gets even funnier. They're getting so emotional over the most horrific characters they'll likely play in their whole career, and don't even realise. After being emotional wrecks for seemingly days of interviews, the memes that came out were glorious and this video barely scratches the surface of the clips available. But let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

Hey, Disparu: First line should read "...when you get this many *egos* in one room..." The word 'egos' is just a plural; it's not a possessive, so no apostrophe is needed. No, you do NOT randomly stick an apostrophe on a word just because it ends with '-s'....

I disagree. Villain backstories don’t excuse their actions, but show how they became who they were. I think Elphaba’s backstory is very crucial. In the end of the wicked movie, people are actually glad she accepted her role and got her freedom Elphaba was fed up trying to get love she never had, so though she is alone and hated, she is free as the witch and unbound. That’s why everyone likes her

Doesn’t Elphaba heal Nessa in the show? That’s probably part 2 but I distinctly remember that being what pushes her into being the second wicked witch. She is healed and her boyfriend announces that with her no longer needing him, he is going to go and proclaim his love for Glynda, so she steals the spell book and curses him. That’s why they didn’t typically cast disabled actresses in the broadway play. How is this actress going to be able to stand up and run around?

I just wated to address the comment you made at 2:19-2:33, about "rewriting history", which is total bullshit. Gregory Maguire wrote _Wicked_ as an exploration of the nature of evil, not to push some "agenda," as you're claiming. It was a way for him to make sense of the ostracization he faced in his early life. Maguire is a gay man, but Elphaba's greenness and ostracization aren't parallels to his own life. He said as much in an interview with PBS Public radio: “They’re analogs to being human. We are all different. We all don’t quite fit into the peg for which others think we are shaped,” he said. “It’s our own business to scrape away the edges of our own peg and make ourselves at home - or to leave the pegboard entirely, find ourselves someplace else to be.” Something you'd understand if you actually *read the book.* The only "agenda" Maguire had was to finish writing the book before his publication deadline, and to say that it's anything else is disengenuous at best. Don't blame the author of the book for the bad press tour, the "woke fans," or that the movie is split into two parts to make the studio execs more money; he had no part in that. He wrote the book to expand upon the Wicked Witch as a character, and talk about how ostracization by society makes one feel like they must embrace a destructive path in order to say "fuck you. If you want me to be a monster, then here I am."

Theater kids…. Also, it’s the studio’s fault for “accidentally” casting a black woman to play a character that’s discriminated against for her skin color, despite not being black herself. Playing the race politics game, coding Elphaba as black (which is seen in the face structure and such) was one of the worst choices they could have made. No one had to make this about race at all, but this casting choice gives the implication that it now matters. Hence the discrimination trigger warning.
