The Academy Award Oscar nominations are coming up, but do they matter? The Golden Globes had a great show with Ricky Gervais but have collapsed in popularity for many years. The nominations don't seem to represent the will of the audience at all anymore, with either blockbusters they can't afford to snub next to bait they don't want to miss. But if the movies that no-one sees are the ones that win, is it any wonder the awards are losing popularity? The medium budget movie seems to have died, and it does seem to be related to the lack of awards and prestige to make these movies, since from a profitability perspective they are all upside. But what do you think of awards ceremonies? Let me know your thoughts down below and as always, thanks for watching :)

"Hey, you stupid homophobic, racist idiot, we're serving bland potatoes and liver, all mixed up in a bowl today, and thats what you're doiyng to get. That will be 32 dollars" And when you complain, they blame you, like it's your fault that the food is awful, call you names. Then, they take to social media, to write a diss Track about you, and tell you how the old food that they used to sell is now outdated and gross, that the old food needed updating, that the old chef is an idiot, and that the old food is never coming back. That's what Hollywood is doing, literally. Then they ask why no one wants their movies.

Not only does the film portray it as seductive and good (even if it causes mayhem in the character’s life), but then women (like the article writer) promote it as good. Like Challengers and now Babygirl. Whenever men cheat in media, it’s explicitly shown to be a negative and cause negative results in their life. This is disturbing.

But yes - relatively mid-budget fun movies aren't made anymore. Which is a shame. People wouldn't make movies like "Sky High", "Matilda", "Troop Beverly Hills", etc. anymore. @@arostwocents I've almost never seen/heard that sentence written/uttered by anyone who actually knew enough to see how they are two sides to the same coin. Horseshoe theory is real. They are both just ways of implementing authoritarian collectivism where egalitarian individualism should be. "Rightwing" extremism (fascism isn't always rightwing, leftwing fascism exists) and "leftwing" extremism (the so-called rightwing fascist Nazi party was in fact a far left socialist regime even if historians will argue the opposite tooth and nail since the winners write the history books and rejecting the "right" pushed us further to the left than we ever should have went as a society) are the same thing in the end. It's all just extremism. People always forget they trade places cyclically over time too. A conservative these days is a "classical" or "true liberal" because they believe in basic rights and freedoms and equality of opportunity (historically in the US the republicans were the more left/liberal ones that abolished slavery whereas the democrats were all big business and pro-slavery). Liberals are seemingly anything but these days, as they advocate for big government and a nanny state (equity of outcome) happily signing away basic rights and freedoms for false promises of safety and a perfectly balanced and "fair" utopia they will never get precisely due to that flawed M.O. (not unlike any other marxist/socialist/communist ...or actual fascists for that matter, not that there are any worrisome amount of them and especially in positions of power regardless of what all the far left propaganda machines blast 24/7 with their relentless firehose of falsehoods). People will argue till they are blue or red in their faces about whether libertarians are right or left and ffs don't get them started on left and right communism or anarchism smh lol. It's all just pretentious gobbledegook not unlike that sommelier ranting nonsense words about the rotten grapes he's arbitrarily fetishizing. Every and anyone who is not afflicted with/compromized by the mind-virus knows the truth. Real eyes realize real lies. Leftwing extremist accelerationism is a big problem and Yuri Brezmenov warned us back in '84 it was coming and told us exactly how cultural marxism would operate (by infecting the schools first, then the entertainment and corporate worlds, and finally our leftwing governmental parties). The only thing he got kinda wrong was it wasn't the Russians and/or the Chinese that did it. It was our 1% extremely wealthy and highly privileged elites (who lets be honest are probably influenced/controlled in myriad ways by kompromat gathered over time by the KGB and various CCP intelligence agencies due to their debauchery and double-dealings in those oppressive authoritarian countries whose elites they probably envy for the power, wealth and control they have over others which no man should possess). “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'” - Ronald Reagan (Reagan was a great movie btw, i recommend everyone watches it, Dennis Quaid was great and it does a lot of work trying to counter some of the decades of propaganda that villainized one of the greatest American presidents, even their tongue-in-cheek hollywood-esque send-up over the top lionization of him was pretty funny and interesting to watch, a very hard line to walk all things considered)

I work as an assistant director (Vancouver film industry) and I honestly don’t know anyone else in the industry who gives a damn about the awards or the egos of the actors. I’ve had some amazing people like the cast on Lost in Space and Shogun, but I’ve also worked with Amber Heard and Ezra Miller. They’re just people, some good some awful. The inflated egos are insufferable. But I find directors to be far more unbearable and problematic. Shogun was the single time I ever cared about the awards, because I know how hard everyone worked on it. Besides that, never been interested.

Ricky Gervis calling out the circle jerk that is the award shows was and still is the highlight of that event. Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan are basically humiliating themselves by praising Joker 2 that was basically a massive F-U to the fans of the first film and that doesn't work out for the director of that film and Gladiator 2 was anything but great for I do not remember a Roman having a New York accent(Denzel's character) and his planning just working for no real reason other then the plot said so and that just shows that Ridley Scott needs to retire for he doesn't have that spark anymore.

Netflix knows exactly how many people watched and re-watched everything they available at any time. What they don't do is publish that information to the outside world, it's all private to the point that even the producers don't know if their offering were popular. DEIsney, Hulu and Prime are all the same, the only time you know something was very successful is when they brag about it, like they did "Squid Game".
@SpareSomeChange80802 күн бұрын
If anything the data they have is going to be very accurate; the only thing they won't have is how many people are sitting on the couch. Streaming services not only have how many times you watched it, but will also have details of when you pause to either nip to the toilet or get a brew, which parts you skip, which parts you re-watch again etc.

Taylor Swift is seriously tied in with P Diddy anyways. Actually P Diddy has got me wondering. Is woke coming from him. He would be advocating for racial issues as well as LGBT issues. That's woke. The weird thing is that many truly iconic low budget movies with amazing acting performances that could be described as "artsy" have been systematically ignored by the Oscars in the last decade. Things like The VVitch ($4M budget, $40M box office), Hereditary ($10M budget, $87M box office), Midsommar ($9M budget, $48M box office). Movies lovingly made after a PhD-level amount of historical / cultural research with OCD attention to details that most people have at least *heard about* because of their cultural significance, even if they do not like them - the kind of movie the Oscars used to reward before. Now they reward boring, unsubtle humanities lectures written in modern newspeak no one has heard of and will be entirely forgotten by next year.
