Then I saw the horror behind it and was glad that the show took SA seriously. I watched the whole episode and with the scene immediately before the song it makes it even more horrifying. The poison controversy is the one I'm most confused by it being a controversy. Sure the scenes were a bit uncomfortable to watch but it's a TV-MA show now if it was TV-14 or even TV-G I can see why it's a problem but it being TV-MA yet having said controversy is very weird. I’m a Christian and I love the show, just cause I believe god exists doesn’t mean I should judge things based on the opposite of god, because I know this was made for entertainment. Now there are some parts of the show I find interesting to say the least, but it has good songs and the character interactions are the BEST. They’re so funny and I love it. I feel seen and represented by Angel. It's so fucking important for things like this to be protrayed. However, I do not like how Viv responded when the 11 second leak happened, or the fact that a storyboard artist is a proshipper and alledgyly fetisizes SA. Those are both fucked up and wrong, but for me that doesn't tarish the represented because what we got in the show itself was done flawlessly imo.

Hazbin Hotel is a great show, no doubt about it but of course not only there's violence and swearing. As a christian, I can confidently say that a good few people who are making some of these comments about the show genuinely are uncomfortable with it due to the subject matter. I am a friend of one, and I respect his opinion. He did say this though: if you like it, that is fine by me. The people going out of their way to over-zealously attack the show for using religion as a premise for its world are just that. Overly zealous individuals who want to start a fire.

That is my only gripe with the show. However, Viv did state that she is a person who finds swearing funny. I can accept that her sense of humor is the way it is, and the show has some clever jokes that are less in your face.

I’m a Christian and I love both Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel. It’s a show, it’s art, it’s fun. It shouldn’t break someone’s faith if that’s their concern, that’s on the individual. And I think it does raise good topics of conversation. And I think Angel Dust’s story and song are important to show in this kind of material. It’s a show about someone’s sins, their soul,and someone’s trauma and baggage are part of their story. Just because it’s not a nice topic doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist and it’s good to see that represented to allow empathy and perspective for someone in a situation like that.

As a Christian, I’m glad you mentioned the controversy involving the hate it get from our community. I agree that it’s really isn’t Anti-Christian when you look past the surface. My biggest complaint is honestly just how much obscene language in it. Like I don’t really mind when it’s every now and then, but it feels like they swear in the show every other sentence.

Lucifer/his daughter being protagonists would already be enough to ban the show for a lot of the fundamentalist types. Mix in a lot of frank portrayals of sexuality, 90% of Angel's dialog, and the profanity, and you've got a great recipe for upsetting them.
