I make a point of clearing out the fridge at the end of the month, also using what I have in the freezer, and I end up making dishes outside my usual recipes, new combinations of flavours and textures that become new favourites.

Having become single 2 years ago, it’s still a challenge to go shopping and not buy too much. There’s always extra food being given to friends and neighbors. I’ve put up about 35 pints of soup in the last month so I am hap hap HAPPY with any ideas!

There are few greater pleasures than trimming out the heart of broccoli stalks and eating them at the kitchen counter as you prep dinner. Everyone else thinks the florets are where it’s at - but the heart of a well trimmed broccoli stalk is truly sublime. 💚🥦💚🥦

It is a blessing to have found your channel. Not a vegan, but trying to eliminate animal ingredients for medical reasons, I had no idea how to make a simple sandwich without mayo, ham and cheese. You teach simple delicious things and I am learning a lot. My blood tests are getting better, I have lost weight and still eat good food.

Thanks for your message about kindness especially in the holiday season. I lost my grandmother yesterday and feel quite numb about it. At the same time I have these feelings of guilt about how I 'should' be feeling, and your message of kindness reminded me that I owe myself a good deal of kindness right now too.

A long time ago, I was a single parent on a very tight budget. I got paid on Thursdays, so Wednesday night was “refrigerator clean out” night. To this day, it was some of my daughter’s favorite meal memories. No two meals were ever the same! (30 years ago!). I’ll never tire of the “be kind” reminders. Thank you!

Thank you for your fantastic recipes. My husband and I changed over to whole food plant based 18 months ago and we are loving it!! We eat like kings & wish we had done this sooner. Thank you especially on your handling of Tofu which up until your videos was a mystery to me. Now I love it and handle it with confidence. We too love our pets and our house revolves around them!!

Thank you so much, after ten years of veganism you get into ruts, so this is truly GOLD! p.s. peel some garlic cloves put them in foil with a bit of oil and salt make a lil' sleeping bag, roast them up -drop some veg butter on them stir it around and you have a spread for your crust, nice warm bread, spoon onto veggies, drop all over pizza, oh, so delicious! Love and kindness to you and yours...and some cookies for Frankie girl!!

Frankie's comment about Siri-priceless😅 Before we even had a black lab in the family, we used to refer to the pizza crusts us kids wouldn't eat as "pizza bones". Frankie agrees I see. This is such a great relatable video-a great way to introduce plant based as 🍕 PIZZA🍕 !! The cauliflower sauce is a recipe I'm going to use as a regular assist in meal prep. Oh geeze, I love the white pizza idea...thank you so much! I went to Lovely's 50/50 pizzeria in Portland. They are doing something interesting there. They use a layer of kale to completely cover their sauce, which keeps the sauce moist. I just figured out that your boiling water pour-over is the perfect way to prepare the chopped-up kale. That is brilliant and never saw anyone doing this simple thing.

Your recipes have changed my life for the better. I hope I am not being disrespectful A little off subject but it’s for pet owners who use kong balls or disguise pet medication or just as a pet treat and you use peanut butter they have now changed the sweetener to xylitol and a vet warning states this can be dangerous to your dogs / pets. Only the one with xylitol in the ingredients. Love your show but Frankie is also a star and I love to see her enjoy her treats.😁

I've noticed that restaurant techniques are not just about visual asthetics. The pepper ribs have a bitter taste, so removing them allows the sugars in the red and the brightness in the greens to shine in the final dish. My leftover veg has found its way into sauces, as you suggested, or into veggie pancakes, hearty flatbreads, bean loafs. Something is always held back for a homemade vegetable stock, which is reduced and frozen in convenient portions.

I didn’t even have all the ingredients- I made the sauce and just put it over my homemade flat breads and because I didn’t want to wait to heat up the oven,I pan fried it on the stove-Just Fantastic!!! I can’t wait to try it with the tempeh sausage next time. Thank you so much for the recipe!

Hi Derek and Frankie. This is my kind of meal. Looks really delish. One of my fav Italian recipes has to be spicy Italian sausage and grapes, sautéed in a, pan with a splash of balsamic vinegar, tossed until golden with a dash of olive oil and optional splash of Chianti. All the vegan sausages i have tried just didn't work. Im definitely going to make it with your sausage recipe it will be perfect with warm foccacio. Can't wait. I was planning pizza tonight to use up some crusts and veg. My husband, not vegan, use to watch your videos with me. He agreed that he ate too much meat. I tried getting more veg, beans and lentils into him. He passed away on the 26th of November. We were together almost 40 years. You and Frankie, give me peace and hope. His request was for people to adopt a pet, buy a shelter some food or feed the birds Thank you for your kindness

I love you guys, D and Frankie. I mostly throw ends likely to be great for broth in freezer; I recently have been learning about fermenting stuff at home and how easy it is; just a beginner here but radical results with little effort re: Kimchi so I'm trying this per instructions which is a quick ferment ... honestly Derek what do I know but so glad you didn't disappear while organizing life on the road . I live in Canada and try my best to avoid politics and know it's inescapable ... based on the testimony of my mum who was a holocaust survivor but also based on going to farmers markets with her as a little kid, just everywhere, she loved talking to people. i was a shy kid but I am growing into her.❤❤

This has inspired me to make some flatbreads and freeze them. With Xmas there will be a lot of leftovers and this is how I can use them up.
