I had the same surging problem after a H/C/I swap. The smoke machine didn't reveal any under hood issues. I found that the vacuum line that goes to the heater controls was leaking under the dash. It about made me nuts trying to figure out the problem. Block off the temp control and the cruise control on the vacuum tree and see if it clears up. It ran great under load but sucked at idle.

Nice, question for you. In your opinion should I tubular front end swap my foxbody or scott rod panels. If I tubular swap the rest of the engine bay will be smoothed. I like both but the ease of removing and Installing stuff sounds nice. Car will be driven the same as yours. Thanks for the help.

I had 3 89s back in the day...all gt 5.0 5 speed cars...my first one had been wrecked before and literally was two different cars making one car if that makes sense. After i totaled it i sold parts off it including interior and carpet once it was ripped up you could see the under side and half the car was stock blue other half was still red under the carpet where it came from a red donar car so it had been pretty messed up before i got it. Point of the story is that first one i had did not ding like that with the door open and i didnt even know any better at the time because it was my first fox at 18 years old. Needless to say when i got my second and third fox they chimed and it drove me nuts lmao.

Just a curious question... when you’re doing your pulls ... it sounds laggy when you hit the 1-2 shift. Not like tire spin. I’m a noob, but just noticed a sound difference. Check the video. Like the third and fourth pulls on POV camera

Its because his gearing is too tall. Not sure what hes running i think 373 maybe not sure but with the older style 5 speed hes running its geared alot longer than an 11-17 mt82 6 speed is so he needs like 430-456 gears to keep the rpms up and pull like 373s do in the 11-17 mt82 cars. Steep gears would really wake this thing up. *edit* also on the pulls in question on the 1-2 he is getting tire spin also its a combo of both causing that delay imo

Absolutely man. An 18 mustang manifold is one of the best bang for the buck things you can do. Id go ahead and grab one that is already ported for couple hundred more its worth it imo. Keep in mind you need to have a custom tune if you do an intake mani swap. Ported 18 manifold, cat delete(s), exhaust and a good solid tune on the best fuel you have available to use will really wake that thing up for not alot of cash.

456 gears for the red lx!!!!! It would be perfect with the gearinf in tbat 5 speed trans you have. Ecspecially since you do 8th mile stuff theres no question. Its just like the old 4v days when they were na and had 5 speeds when ppl built na cars that were fast they all had 410-456 gears in them because the top end happy engines love it and the coyote is the same thing only better so def do 456s it would make that thing an animal. I bet if you rev close to 8k you could do 125-130 mph in 4th thats enough to get through the traps in 4th even quarter mile. 373 in the 11-17 mt82s have similar gearing overall so if you want it to pull like 373s in an 11-17 mt82 car then that long geared 5 speed needs 456s thank me later lol
