He didn't steal anything, he wrote it, has nothing to do with when he released it, he sang his ass off on that song

Yeah he just sounded ignorant honestly. First off gimmicky? If someone made this song today maybe it would be gimmicky but not then. And if he hears Eric Clapton before the Lynyrd Skynyrd I don’t trust his input also the fact he plays in a Clapton cover band is all o need to know🤦♂️

My best friend and I are big Hank Jr fans. A few years ago, we discovered this gem, and we ironically would listen to it every time we went to the river to catfish. It was during the spring, and we were going every other night and catching 32-34 catfish by the time the sun came up. Every time we'd go, there was a storm blowing through. But thankfully it kept barely missing us.. So it seemed ironic that we kept listening to this song on our way there, and we kept listening to it, as if it was giving us good luck with the weather. Lol

THANK YOU! You are the first person to notice that he tunes down the E-string during the chorus which shows he can play.

Hank and Eric used to jam together, so there ain't no drama. Hank has toured with Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker, Little Feat, has had Van Halen in his videos, Sammy Hagar, Huey Lewis, Tom Petty, and even Reverend Ike perform on his albums. So he is well liked in other genres.

As a major Hank Jr fan (from France) I've known "weatherman" forever but never delved into Clapton much, only the few hits heard on the radio Met this Romanian girl who's a fan of Nick Cave, Springsteen, Ghost and, most of all, Clapton, and she told me about that song among all the others I listened, and yea. That was "my song" (Mr Weatherman). But the mood had changed through the chorus and lyrics...now, that was OUR song. Still is, and fck how "typical" that is in in weddings in the US. Out there in Europe, we still get to enioy the beauty of it But I'll always personally prefer "weatherman" 🤠

Well, in that "All My Rowdy Friend's Have Settled Down" video you two watched, he did say he was "blessed being around all these great songwriters and musicians I could steal from. Which I stole everything I could." Lol I didn't make a connection on that lick in this song before, but I do hear it now. I googled Hank Jr and Eric Clapton and I did see that Hank did a cover of Eric Clapton's "Promises".

That's funny! I love this song! I never realized it's the same tune as Eric's? Both are great songs! I hear it now that you say that. I think hanks might have alil more miner in it? I like both Clapton & Hank. Hank dous do alot of other people's stuff. Think about how he got started, thats all he did was other people's stuff.

The chord progression is not the same as Wonderful Tonight. Clapton plays in the Key of G and the beginning progression is G, D/F#, C. Hank plays Weatherman in the Key of F and the progression is F, C, Dm. Now if Hank was to play in the Key of G, the progression would be G, D, Em. Not the same.

This an insult of how you treated Hank Williams JR. Your golden boy Eric Clapton, good artist, I'd rather hear Hank. Isn't a saint...start bashing him, keep it equel: That’s my shit,” declares Linsey Alexander to the packed-out venue in north Chicago. “I play my own shit, not like Eric Clapton and those motherf#ckers,” he says, before continuing one of his legendary raucous performances that have seen him inducted into the Chicago Blues Hall Of Fame and win multiple awards while in his seventies. The set is all his own material. The songs have all the traditional elements of the blues, the beat, the sexual innuendo and the walking bass, but the songs are still his own, not like some performers who, as Alexander intimates, have appropriated the music of others. Although he didn’t elaborate, he was possibly referring to Clapton’s 1974 hit Give Me Strength. The record gave Clapton full writing credit but, according to Chicago singer-songwriter Louise King Mathews, it was she who in fact wrote the song in 1939, before Clapton had even been born. How he came to believe he wrote it himself, Mathews couldn’t understand.

MY golden boy??? the only real Clapton I like is Cream... and that's probably more because of Jack Bruce and Ginger than Eric. I'm not specifically an Eric Clapton fan. I'd rather listen to Hank Jr also.
@jeremiahrose46818 ай бұрын
Nice, sorry I was harsh. Clapton is a legend, no doubt. There's a lot of legendary artists/bands that I don't care for overall. A song or two I may like, but listening to an whole album I couldn't do. My favorite artist a lot of people trash on, whoever, doesn't stop me from enjoying listening to them. Take care. @@JustinPanariello
