Nice reaction guys. You might understand that this album tells us about the discovering of Brazil in the beginning of XVI century and this music reflects the first contact between Europeans (Portuguese) and natives so this is why you hear different sounds which come from natives indigenous. This is a trip music.

Well, you got a point: out of the context of the album this track is hardly metal. But trust me, Angra is essencially a power metal band. The thing is they take the genre and create upon it using huge brazilian and classical influences, and that makes them good.

André Matos was one of the most skilled rock singers of all time. He was also a brilliant composer. He died in June 8th, 2019. The classic songs from Angra are: Carry On from the angels cry album, Lisbon and Fireworks from the Fireworks album, Nothing to say, Carolina IV and Holy Land from the Holy Land album.

That song “Fairytale” was the very first song that introduced me to Shaman & Andre(RIP) and after extensive research I found more and more because I could not get enough of his incredible VOICE. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

AngrA is pretty well known here in Argentina. Not mainstream anyways, but any metalhead from the 90s know them. André was an amazing guy, we'll miss him so much. The whole band is amazing, all of them virtuoso level.

Angra is such a unique and awesome band. My favorite song from this album is Nothing to Say. There's a song from a British band no one knows, which I believe you guys would totally dig, the song is called Opera Fanatica by Arena. There are no reactions to it which is a shame being such an incredible song.

Also, now that I finished watching the video, it struck me that perhaps you have never heard their best album (IMO), called Temple Of Shadows. It is amazing all the way. On the heavier side, you get Spread your fire and Temple of hate, and on the progressive side you get No Pain for the Dead and Shadow Hunter. But it is really difficult to pick favourites on the album since it is so damn good. Also, if you dig Andre Matos, check his other bands - Viper, in which he was before Angra, and Shaman, to which he went after leaving Angra. Both awesome. If you EVER need other brazilian metal recommendations, no false modesty, i am the dude. :)

It's always good to see people listen to Angra. He can show her Carolina IV and ZITO of the same album Metal Icarus from Fireworks Rebirth and Nova Era from Rebirth Hunters and Prey from the album of same name It's hard to choose just one from Aurora Consurgens Same with Temple of Shadows, since all songs are connected and tell one story. With Fabio Lione I recomend watch their live performances posted in their official channel in youtube. Lione did a great job singing Matos and Falaschi songs, putting his own signature, and also singing well the songs of his era on the band. Hope to see more Angra in here! Subscribed! 😊🎶🇧🇷🎸

This syncopated pattern (Bb to C) is a reference to the sound of "berimbau", a instrument used by ancient slaves to dance to the "capoeira", a unique dance / fighting style that was forbidden by the portuguese. This instrument is still used in the "rodas de capoeira" or capoeira dancing gatherings - wich was a outsider dance / fighting style until de 1900's. This rithm is a traditional BAIÃO , A NORTHEAST Brazilian traditional music.

+ NicknLex Angra and anything Andre Matos was in is my favorite, been a top fan of theirs since 1992! Would recommend reacting to Carry On the official video, Carolina IV, and Shaman from their Ritualive show the song Over Your Head or Fairytale. New viewer, anyone who really gets Angra/Matos is an automatic sub, love that you both get them. For another would recommend my other most favorite band and singer, X-Japan, the songs Jade, Dahlia ( from the Last Live) Silent Jealousy, IV, and Art Of Life (live at the Tokyo Dome 1992).
