The MCU especially has such a great cast, and what I love is how it's a mix of well-established A-list actors (let's use Sam Jackson as an example), lesser known B- or C-listers who just fit the roles perfectly (Chris Pratt at the time they hired him was in this category) and completely new faces who they cast simply because they're the best man for the job despite there being bigger names (Tom Holland). Oh yeah, and your Alfred Molina example is pretty spot-on as well. So glad he's coming back.

Prior to the 2010s I had a very 'meh' opinion towards Doc Ock, however, they started bringing him back in spaced out storylines where we learn the number of hits to the head he's taken from Spider-man, members of the Sinister Six, and other people with godlike super strength has actually given him fatal brain damage. He has some amazing schemes during this storyline, and it culminates with Otto swapping minds with Peter, ensuring that his archenemy dies in his body while he gets to live on young and attractive with superpowers. And the fact it actually succeeds, despite a final attempt by Peter to stop him, is such a baller thing to put on your supervillain resume. The journey he goes on as Superior Spider-man, technically two times, is really fascinating. And the end of his tenure is really tragic, since he's faced with a supervillain he can't beat, and he questions whether its because he's lost an edge he had as his old self. Mephisto shows up (because at this point he canonically has a fetish for messing with spider-people) and offers to give Otto his old body and personality back, but the cost is that Otto might have to accept his megalomania isn't a result of mental illness (which is what he's been claiming all this time) and is in fact just a result of him being a shit person. He takes that bet and manages to win the day, but when the people who have grown to love and care for him in his time as Elliot Tolivar reach out and tell him he can still be loved and a hero the way he is now, he rejects them, seemingly out of ego but truly because deep down he doesn't feel like he's worthy of such things in the state he's in now. If future writers who utilize Otto as a villain don't pay any mind to the character development he's had in the 21st century, I'll be right pissed.

I may be wrong but I think it goes Doctor octopus (original) takes over Peter Parker; original octopus body dies and octopus/spiderman becomes superior spiderman assuming Peter Parker is dead. Becomes the sort of hero: superior spiderman. Peter Parkers consciousness resurfaces; Parker enjoys some of the benefits of having a huge amount of wealth. Doctor octopus used soke A.I. fuckery along with cloning to transfer his consciousness to a clone body with some of Peter Parkers benefits. Becomes sort of a hero as the superior octopus but has to give this up in order to beat a villain.

From how I see it, Doc Oct from the PS4 Spiderman game already had some grievances with Norman Osborn due to him routinely shutdown funds from and shutdown Oct's project. Spider-totems are when marvel decided to try to put a mystical spin on the origin of Spider-Man and then gave up part way so both his scientific and mystical origins now simultaneously apply to him haha. You might want to consider an article on the Spider-verse (the original comics version, not the animated movie) and the followup story Spider-geddon, but some research in advance might be required due to how convoluted it was haha

A Spider Totem is any being in the multiverse (Spider-verse) that has Spider powers. They are hunted by the Inheritors and consumed. Otto cloned a body that was 1/2 peter parker 1/2 otto. That body was not recognized as a Spider Totem by the Inheritors. They could not eat him to survive.
