Wow. That's insane. Bill's an idiot. Don't blame him for kicking people off his boat for drug use, that's definitely the right move. But he's a huge prick. And he's the one captain who will put his crew out on the deck to fish in the middle of raging storms. He's done it countless times and it always ends with someone getting injured. Not to mention the time he almost killed a boat full of crew and discovery channel production team trying to come into harbor in the middle of a typhoon. Bill is not safe by any means.

“Rats them out”? That’s a moronic way of putting it. He’s a veteran deckhand on a crab boat helping ensure crew safety, not a mean-spirited grade schooler. Letting those two stay on the boat would have very much likely gotten them killed with the state they were in (and maybe someone else too as they can’t be entrusted to help with a situation like a man going overboard). Not to mention that it’s very illegal to do that. Also, if there’s a chance that they’re using on the boat itself, the authorities could seize it.

This was way more than weed. They got black out drunk and were doing pills/oxy. Most of these guys need upper drugs to do this job but captains turn a blind eye since they use them too to stay awake. It’s more a liability/insurance issue if bill let him work under the influence and hurt himself or someone else.

Wild bill had to what needed to be done especially with drug use and alcohol which is forbidden on the vessel. It makes it worse when people try to lie to your face, hard drug use sucks but being short-handed on that notice for being ahead isn't good either. Shoot wish i could be there to be able to work as a deckhand no problems and nothing crazy to worry about. I'd love the experience let alone anything else.

Yea they screwed up. But in Alaska you don’t talk to people like that. That was scripted. Both of my uncles run seiners. If you have to yell or curse or berate your people you’re a bad leader and YOU fucked up. My uncle said he’s only ever had to yell at one deck hand. And that’s because that one deck hand put everyone onboard and the boat itself at risk in 30 foot seas 50 knot sustained winds. BUT he apologized afterward. Talking to people like that is a good way to get yourself knocked out on the docks in Kodiak, period.

Bill needs to replace his pre historic attitude towards "drugs". Someone who smokes weed, is not a "druggie" any more than someone who likes alcoholic drinks is an drunk. Weed and Alcohol are both drugs. If you get high you gotta fly, is a bit stupid. If your drunk do you get sunk? Fucking ridiculous that its ok to get drunk in the evening but not ok to get high??? Because Alcohol is legal Kal. Drugs are a different story. The Coast Guard chooses to not be videotaped but they regularly board many ships and everybody pees in the bottle. Captain included. Any measurable amount of Alcohol or any drugs and the season is over. That includes smoking pot 5 months prior. You have to be clean. These kids make up to 4 grand per day when fishing. If they choose to blast a rail of meth they lose. Years ago this show taped a boarding against the wishes of the Coasties. They have the right to film. Well the Coasties have the right to board every day. After 7 stop work boardings in 7 days to drug test the show agreed to destroy the tape and stop being dicks. Then the Coasties did not board that ship for 8 years, knowing the Captain was serious about Meth.
