Infinite appreciations and cacophonous thanks be upon you for tuning in and reading these words.
I've never written a load of pretentious balls in one of me vid descriptions before - but now I'm going to, read on and enjoy your cringe :-)
We were set all set for another dreary and wet mountain wild camp. The met office told us unequivocally there would be no views and the mists would be winding their way down from the peaks to envelope the mountains.
How wrong they were!
As we picked our way up Y-Garn we bore witness to a battle between water, wind and sun. The clouds were defeated and scattered, leaving ethereal shreds of mist, spectacularly illuminated by the bright early-spring sun fleeing up the mountainside.
The swiftly moving air was bitter on our faces but the sun was warm.
We made the 950m summit then found our way 100 metres lower to a magical lake which was to be our camping spot for the night. The tent went up easily and the setting sun's rays found a way through the remaining clouds to bid us farewell before the day was done.
This was our first sunny camp of 2023; but it was transitory and the status quo was restored when the following day dawned. The tent zip squealed to reveal a world shrouded in grey. But as we clambered down the contour lines we found the clouds were only clinging to the tops. The views beneath them were as one would expect from Eryri, sublime and bold yet accessible and enlivening.
I had the best coffee of my life in a busy Siabod cafe later that morning.
Snowdonia - I'm already missing you.
Until next time.
