Wild Camping In Unsettled Weather! | Heavy Rain And Poor Visibility!

Another wild camp in the wonderful Cairngorms In Scotland!
Hi everyone! Welcome back to the exciting and very stunning Cairngorms National Park! This time we choose the wonderful Drumochter hills which has 6 Munros and a 7th further up the A9 near Dalwhinnie. The hike to the mountains was exciting and fun but as we climbed up the first Munro the weather got a lot more unsettled!
Camped with Monty and James on this trip testing three separate tents. The tents were the Terra Nova Southern Cross 1, Vango Starav 200, and MSR Elixir 1. All three tents were solid all night and handled the wind and rain easily. Hope you enjoyed our trip as much as we did.

We were supposed to do the Ptarmigan Ridge on Ben Lomond on Monday but we pied it off and did a coastal hike instead because of the wind and sleet. Fair play to you for sticking with your original plan.

@@dougieranger I struggled with the cold at times. Got a new jacket to try out this week which I hope to show on the next video. Looks likely I’ll do a lot of high camps this winter so this jacket should be useful.

I was getting a bit anxious when your trying to ignite your stove so close to your tent fabric. Maybe just the angle. Professional and composed despite audio issues. Keep up the good work.. always impressed with your adventures 👍

I was more anxious about my pot support not fitting to the bottom of the canister. It does sometimes look close in certain tents especially the Southern Cross 1. Thanks for watching Gerry. ATB

It’s frustrating when you get audio issues. Got dry bags to cover the GoPro from the wind and driving rain. There are definitely ways to reduce the problem. My fault definitely.

Camping and hiking in this weather is good when there is company. Recently turned back on my recent trip due to the bad weather. I also enjoy watching people camping in rain and wind from the comfort of the house. Microphones are broken so I’ve upgraded them to the newest version. ATB Gaz

I camped by on beinn a’ghlo a few months ago gaz. We got better views but was a great walk. They all count even if it’s by 10ft vis 👍🏻🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿😊

Yeah Martyn I thought it was a rubbish video until I managed to sort most clips out when editing it. I actually use a Sennheiser mic and I highly rate it. I’m sure it’s called MKE 200 the same mic RS Outdoors uses. Tried it when I got home and it was working normally again. Will see how I get on when filming my next trip. ATB

On 95 Munros. Still having issues with the microphones which is a little frustrating. Been thinking of upgrading them anyway so now is probably the opportunity to do so. ATB
