I used to watch Wild Grinders. While it was weird in a ridiculous way, felt like the show could have improved on the story driven elements a bit while trying to have fun with the characters. To be honest, if the animation industry collapsing right now had to go back to its roots- go through this phase and then build up on the quality of the shows as time goes on

I’ve seen a few episodes of this show on nicktoons, and it felt very early 2000’s, but the only reason I knew of its existence nowadays, is because they were doing a promo thing for the Saturday morning block Basically it was a popularity poll (held during the election dates) between the title character and Shoutmon from Digimon fusion. Whoever won got a bonus episode released that Saturday. It was an odd commercial campaign.

I remembered the show. It's was a good show. I can tell that Rob Dyrdek had a lot of passion for making the show rather than being a quick cash grab. Maybe in today times, if Rob is ever planning on bringing the show back, the show can work; it just needs some improvement when it comes to storyline and character development. I love the animation by the way. The graffiti comic style seems cool.

i remember loving this show as a kid even though i wasn't a skater or anything (and i'm still not as much as i wish i were lol) and in hindsight it definitely wasn't great, but as far as shows based off famous people go i still think it's one of the better ones, it's corny as hell but you can tell there was at least some amount of passion behind it. i also had a crush on emo chris before i even really knew what being emo was and then now i'm an emo guy myself lmao. obviously this show didn't inspire me at all bc this was years later but it's just kinda funny how this of all things was one of my first times hearing about the concept.

I was wondering why I had never heard of this one before, but being on air in the mid 2010's answers that for me. That said the animation and setting really feel like they would've been at home in 2007 on Newgrounds.
@Bladeslingersgamepreserve
@Bladeslingersgamepreserve 15 күн бұрын
I think the big problem with the animation is that they didn't take the time adjusts the look of the characters for the medium of animation. Think about another cartoon based on a toy line, Rescue Heroes. The Rescue Hero toys had the same exaggerated proportions that the Wild Grinders toys had. With the figures having big feet and hands so that they could interact with all the different toys and accessories. However, when they adapted the characters into an animated series, they gave the characters more proportionate designs to make them appear less toyish and more natural when moving. All without loosing the recognizability of the toys. Now that's not to say the animation on Rescue Heroes was stellar but the movement at least felt natural and allowed for a believable sense of weight during those dangerous scenarios. In Wild Grinders, they translated the toys directly to animation which makes all the movement feel really awkward and unnatural. Even by the standards of a flash animated cartoon. Rob should have had his graphic designers experiment with slightly different character designs to order to find one that worked for the medium of animation.
