Why did the chicken cross the road?
Or more specifically, how did the cyclist avoid the chicken crossing the road?
ok ok, the jokes, the puns, the banter is endless, but lets actually slow this incredible incident down and find out if the cyclist stays upright and if so ... HOW???
The footage was shot on a GOPRO Hero 11 black mini, from my handlebars in 5.3k at an 8:7 ratio.
I should also mention, the look and stye of the video is a 100% complete rip off of the great ‪@LanterneRougeCycling‬ ... strongly he decided against covering the weekday chop in Sydney 😂
As always, smash that like button and be sure to subscribe for more videos ... but probably no more videos featuring chickens and bikes.

As saying goes “it’s better to be lucky than good!” …so you asked about shoe quality so here is one short anecdote: 2-years ago I was in a KOM type ride and coming back realized that my front brakes were totally gone, this was after starting a ride with almost no rear brakes thinking all would be good for at least one ride(yes I’m that dumb)! At the moment I realized I could longer control my descent I clipped out my right foot that was enveloped in a Bont VaporS and went Flintstones by thrusting my foot into the pavement. This move allowed to slow just enough for my riding partner Coach Cruz to catch me and I was able to use him (and his brakes) to stop me from shooting off a 300 foot Cliff! So I’m that moment yes my shoes saved my life and of course the quick reactions of my riding partner! Cheers mate - awesome video!!!

That was an incredible save. I live in NYC and commute to work with my bike. Along my route, I pass by a live poultry market. There was a small chicken that somehow escaped and was just feeding along the side of the street. As I was approaching closer, somehow he got startled and ran right into my front wheel and got stuck between the spokes and went for a ride for a few seconds. Feathers were flying everywhere and good thing it dislodged itself unhurt with only missing feathers. Several people saw what happened and can't help it but laughed.

Crazy! Probably 5 years ago during a Men's Cat 1/2 race here in Chicago, right before the start/finish a similar thing happened with a Canadian cobra chicken. Nobody crashed, however the cobra chicken did get injured and this lady went to try & save it. She made calls to wildlife conservation and had it all setup. Well, while she was doing that, a coyote showed up and taught us all about conservation.

It's worth noting that even after clipping the rear wheel of the rider ahead sending him off balance to the right, he even steered into it (albeit a little less than he would have if he hadn't skated with that right foot) to bring the bike back under himself. Getting back on the bike was the foot tap, the overcompensate leftward body lean AND aggressively steering the bike into the right hand fall the get the bike to catch up with him and catch him... and all in a few seconds. Truly incredible. I know where I'd have ended up 😅

Wow, who knew that a shoes 'skating ability' would ever save you! Man, that was just too close. Glad everyone came out OK. The wheel overlap was a real issue. When I was younger and something like this would happen (on a MTB bike, on dirt, thank goodness never happened on tarmac) , the world used to switch to slow motion and I would think to myself: "I've got it.... I've got it.... I've got it...." until I finally hit the deck. Now, one moment I'm up, the next I'm on the dirt. I think fast-mo is actually better, same result, less thinking about it! ;-)
