I was pregnant with my second child during that wildfire. I was hospitalized TWICE in two weeks because the smoke made me vomit to dehydration. Needed IV fluids twice. And it didn’t matter that I didn’t leave the house or opened windows.

How close to the fires were you? I guess you left the house at least twice to get to the hospital and back again. Hope you have a HEPA filter now for the rooms in your home that need them. I stayed in for a month windows closed. A wet washcloth over your mouth seems to block the smell of smoke and its cool too. Is the baby OK?

Hey! Not sure if this is a genuine question because this is KZbin but basically there's a giant air current called the jet stream and when the smoke rose up into the atmosphere, it was pushed eastward. Think of it like a fast flowing river in the sky. It's the same thing that will push volcanic gas/ash around the world after a massive eruption. It is insane but cool how connected we all and it really shows what an impact individual events have on the rest of the globe. I live in NC and we are under a code orange air quality alert because of the smoke which has spread through the entire state. It's unlike anything I've ever seen. I flew into the state yesterday evening and the whole sky was hazy which made it hard to see the ground, even when we were below the clouds

I wasn't born here but its gotten so bad. My boyfriend in high school drove around in a pickup truck that had a gun rack for his rifles right there in the cab. They were right behind our heads and I didn't give it a second thought.
