Bushcraft Stone Fireplace - Making a stove for my shelter using mud and rocks from the river, adding a chimney, protecting the roof from the heat by using a metal can and soil, testing the stove, and cooking my first dinner with its help. No talking, only peaceful nature sounds.
I decided to build a stone fireplace for my shelter before finishing building the walls, as it was easier to build and move around carrying rocks this way. This was also a project that required many days of work. I spent my first day just carrying lots of rocks from the river, digging and filming beautiful wildflowers - snowdrops (which are called spring's first messengers here) and Scilla bifolia (Alpine Squill).
Leatherwork - belt, sheaths, and bag made by Ben Brucker - / brucker-crafts-7477398...
I created a playlist with all the videos that I filmed at my long-term shelter - you can access it by clicking this link:

There you go again! When I asked if you were going to put a stove in the shelter? You said probably. So I figured you'd put something like a tigris titanium hot stove in. NNNOOOO WWWAAAYYYY. It wouldn't be Wild Green Johanna by just putting a purchased stove in there. You go an carry every stone, mix the mortar and build a stove that would make a expert mason blush. I don't know where you learn all your crafting skills. Whether you read up to learn about them or they may have been life experiences, but thats what draws every KZbin viewer to you. Always something new, unique, not done by anyone else. Thats why you are in a league of your own. Your videos are beyond interesting. They're compelling, mind blowing and just downright a joy to watch. Love the belt too with all the gear, bear spray etc. You always carry the right stuff. Your a pro's pro. Looking forward to the next part. Again. We thank you for all your exhausting hard work in these videos. There's no other bushcrafter like you. Again, mountains of respect and admiration as always from Long Island.

Stunning,...in every way. Visually, the care and attention to detail, the brilliant yet simple ideas, the perfection of everything that you do. You make it look all so easy! The soil in the can for the stove pipe just made me speechless, so incredibly simple, well thought out, and clever. I can't believe I've never thought of doing that! I have spent decades doing similar things, but my goodness I am learning such a lot from you. You do everything with such artistry, I look back on things that I have constructed and feel shame that they were so basic and rough.... Your videos are truly stunning, peaceful, interesting and really the very best of this sort. And you always look so neat and tidy, cool, calm and collected .....don't know how you do it! You have my greatest admiration. Lots more of these videos, please.

The way that you made that fireplace was so cool and you made it seem so easy. But I know that was some hard work carrying all those rocks plus doing that when it's so cold it can really wear you out but. The end result is you can have hot food and can have something hot to drink so that's awesome. Good job stay safe, stay well take care.

Good Evening Johanna .. It's good to see you again 😊 .. and the Construction is comingvon very nicely 👍. Nice to see the extra roof supports going in .. an effective little Fireplace / Stove (it seems to have a strong 'draw' which should result in minimum smoke inside the finished dwelling). Yep, the 'Hearth is the Heart of the Home'. Takes me back to my High School Days in the 60's (Boarding School) and later. My Mom and Step Father lived in a tiny State-Owned Railway Cottage with an even smaller Sitting Room and a Coal-Fueled Fireplace. Memories of cold wet winter evenings sitting in front of a cosy fire playing cards (no TV then) .. good memories 😊. Encouraging Johanna, to see the Bear Spray .. one can never be too careful. Take care my Friend .. be alert and stay safe .. Tommy

La raffinata eleganza della tua persona traspare da ogni gesto così' composto, gentile, delicato. La tua grazia rapisce il pensiero verso l'incanto di un sentimento di ammirazione superlativa.

A lot of painstaking work and effort to and from the creek bed was well worth it...resulting in a brilliant stove. Your patience and dedication to your craft is absolutely amazing. It's so enjoyable for us to watch. Thank you for sharing, Johanna. Your channel will grow tremendously this year just from word of mouth. Stay safe.

I look forward to each new video you post. I would love to do what you do but my age does not allow it. (81) ...so I enjoy working in my garden. I live in Georgia, US.

Johanna..that was fantastic! The stove top stone looks custom made to order! And the pot rest in front of the burn chamber is a great feature!A beautiful home warming gift. 💙 Do you think you would delay putting up the walls until it starts getting cold again? The shelter looks great with the open walls! First meal cooked with it must have been pure pleasure :). Thanks for sharing that amazing build 😄 God bless.
