Building A Long Term Shelter In The Woods - Making a bushcraft chair inside the cabin - Gathering reed - I started covering one of the walls with reed (good insulation), but rain prevented me from finishing my work - Enjoying rain and bird sounds and working inside the house - decorating the walls with handmade traditional plates - Reading a book about primitive shelters that was gifted to me by one of my viewers (Big thank you to him for his gift!) - Having rice and veggie sauce for dinner. No talking, only peaceful nature sounds.
I created a playlist with all the videos that I filmed at my long-term shelter - you can access it by clicking this link:

Dear Johanna, I am completely mesmerized by your videos. They are absolutely so beautiful. When I watch them, I feel I am there experiencing nature along with you. The people that tell you to smile more, or to do this or that are missing the flow and are judging it instead of just experiencing these moments in nature with you. I for one watch and accept them for what is and relish the intimacy that you so gracefully and eloquently share with us in these videos. I can tell you are a brilliant and gentle soul. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us, you make many of us happy to be able to be a part of your journey with you vicariously. Please continue to "be" exactly who you are without self-consciousness. I am sure there are many of us viewing your videos who think they are just perfect! Many blessings...xo

I'll second that one Lou, Johanna is doing it brilliantly, I've just spent a week with a group in the woods, Sunday to Saturday, good group, but there was one lady and she outshone the men, if I was stuck in bad situation, she would be my first choice, the blokes would be all macho and look after themselves.

Well ! As I am writing now, I am sitting in the middle of Junipers in the Botanical Garden of Montreal. It is now several days in a row that I've been walking to this place... I've bought a new pair of trousers and a coat with high tech tissue for comfort in all weather time. That's my best birthday gift you've been inspiring me while going out side like your are doing in your Romanian wilderness. I've started a new habit and I am learning trees 🌲 and plants in French and English language. Plus the useful knowledge for survival in nature. It's giving me a on year challenge to prepare next spring second challenge to build, enjoy and experiment like you do...

Enjoy what you are learning, Donald! I also recently bought myself some beautiful books to learn more about wild plants/trees, animal traces, and birds here in my country. There's a lot of truth in your words Little Sister, my "reset" is nature. Camping, hiking, hunting. Grew up doing all this with my Dad, in the high mountains and the Arizona desert. He was always glad to take one or two of my friends, and they loved going. There is a wildlife preserve not far from me here, and I go regularly to walk, watch for wildlife and enjoy our seasonal changes here in the Mid-west where I now live. I really enjoy watching you do what you do, I think it's beneficial to both of us.

You are amazing at what you do. Keep up with these videos as they do inspire! Thank you for sharing some of the things in Romania, I have yet to see your great country. America may seem the same, but in many ways it is not. I was a veteran who would defend it for what freedoms it stood for, but now--seems people no longer want this. I can't even recognize my own country for it will fall greatly. Yes, we do share pains, sorrows, but I find joy in even these things. I am very different than what most people would even see. The Lord Jesus Christ be with you, and I pray for you. Oh, and mud with clay mixed in will seal up the larger holes and keep the place a little more protected from cold and rain.

Thank you very much for your kind words, Deborah! The words you wrote apply to most countries nowadays. Real Romania and Real America are made of beautiful people like you and many others. God bless you and your people!

@@WildGreenJohanna I actually looked up foods your country eat. I want to try some of the recipes, some look like french toast, but I did not know your country will view pork sausage as a "vegetable". That is so cool. We see it as meat. That last recipe you had with just vegetables looks good, and I may try that. I am normally a meat eater, but I can see some wisdom in what you make for dinners. You will yet teach me a lot. See you again when you upload your next video.
@WildGreenJohanna

@@deborahelliott8460 I did not cook many traditional dishes - Romanian specific - only bulz (polenta and sheep cheese), aubergine salad, and nettles with polenta (that is also something we often eat here during spring). Sausages are meat - the vegetable thing is just a Romanian joke :)) Romanians eat a lot of meat nowadays, but our ancestors only ate meat once or twice a week usually - this also depends on the region where they lived. Shepherds for example relied on polenta (made of millet initially, and more recently made of corn) and dairy products from sheep. We also have fasting periods here (no animal products - for about one-third of the year) - many people still respect these periods and they have many health benefits also. We are now in such a fasting period as Easter/Passover is approaching, so you won't see me eat animal products until after Passover (I rarely eat animal products anyway, but this is not Romanian specific, it is a personal choice). Thank you for your comment! Hugs and best wishes!

Dear Johanna, I’m going to say after reading your show notes but before watching your video that it took my breath away because you spoke of music and Doina. I was going to comment that watching you work in the woods, watching your hands build, even watching your hands cook, reminds me of beautiful music healing my soul-music in action. I love what you wrote in the show notes today. Then again, I always do. Today though they were serendipitous & like magic. Thank you for the Doina song link followed by the Romanian child singing a sad song then a joyful one. #Music #Magic #Healing #Gratitude.💙💫💙

And btw Johanna, it’s common for women to be told to “smile.” You do you. You be you. You are working & healing in the woods. Anyone who’s followed you for any length of time should respect that. Wanting you to smile is the issue of the person requesting that of you. I wonder how much Thoreau smiled when he was living in the woods & there’s no doubt he felt many emotions which is as it should be bc as you said we are humans. And I hesitate to say this but a person who always smiled on her YT channel just ended her life despite loads of love & support; she was definitely hiding her deep pain behind that smile.🕊 Your content gives us peace. More importantly it gives you peace. We must not ask anymore of you imo.💙💫🌀

@@WildGreenJohanna Thank you, Johanna. She was living with depression & another cyberbullying KZbinr was well aware of that since she was open about it to reduce mental illness stigma & be a mental health advocate. He was told to stop but lost subscribers ie money. He did cruel “roasts” of people who lived unusual lifestyles especially vanlifers like she was. She ended her life 2 days after he did his final cyberbullying of her. So tragic. Don’t ever let anyone hurt you in the comments. Get someone who loves you to volunteer to moderate them so you don’t have to be exposed to that hate. We love you & you deserve only the best. I’d moderate your comments but can only keep up with the ones in your posts. I’m glad you wrote what you did today in your show notes. So glad you’re learning the Romanian flute; what a treat that will be for us when you play a Doina for us. Yes, hard work, practice but joy too. Music is such a gift as are you. 2 questions: What type of pants are you wearing? I want to get some; we have some good makers of bushcrafter & camping products & clothes in the USA. Also I saw your thank you to Paul for the book. Do you have a safe address to which we can send simple gifts to you? I received similar advice from a psychologist friend - just delete the hate comments, because they do not only influence me, they will have an impact on the subconscious of my other viewers too. His advice helped a lot, cause I was trying to be kind to them and explain things. My pants - Solognac (from Decathlon). A PayPal I might add at some point in the future in my description - some of my viewers asked me about it in the past and I am thinking about it. As for gifts, the ones that sent me gifts used my Gmail address to talk to me in private. I cannot make my home address public, as I want to lead a peaceful life. Shipping taxes are pretty high when sending a gift from the States to Romania. Thank you very much for your kind thoughts! Your comments and beautiful words are the greatest gifts. Hugs and much love!

@@WildGreenJohanna Don’t EVER make your home address public. No way. And yes as soon as you see the hateful comments immediately block & delete that person. They can still give you a thumbs down but no matter. Joke’s on the hater who gives you a thumbs down because it still works in your favor for your YT algorithm. Pls remember that. Ty for the answer about your pants; have been searching for some w/no luck. Take your time deciding about whether or not to set up a PayPal account. But if you do put it in every description. I’ve never seen your Gmail address; I would only ever write to you privately to send you gifts or what have you. I know how expensive it is because I support a political prisoner who’s an Australian citizen but being held unfairly in a horrible prison in the UK. Even sending funds in his defense to the UK is expensive. Other than that, there’s only one other channel I support. Considering your channel is like a moving, loving, sacred meditation & therapy I’d love to support you. There aren’t many ppl I can say that about except my friend Adelina who has a YT channel. I told her about yours & she was very interested. Be well dear one🌀💫💙

Another great video. Its kind of like following a show on TV each week. Watching to see what you do to the shelter next. The hangings on the chair and the two plates you put on the wall gave the room a very homey look. Its really beginning to look great.

Thank you for the links to the music. Absolutely breathtaking. The child playing the sad and then joyful piece was amazing! Your bushcraft shelter is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Pure magic and art. The only way to true happiness is through painful sadness. The secret is to go with the flow of life and embrace the rich intensity of all our moments, including and perhaps especially, the darkest times. I feel that most smiling is aggressive. Animals don't smile (for the most part) and yet they are the fortunate ones who are closest with the Mother. Nature. Your videos are superb!
