I lived in Japan for ten years. The Japanese and French are similar in how they produce things using both science and art. Victor took the rudder job to an art form. This series is also helping promote France and the French people. Evidently many of them are very kind and selfless. Nadyana (sp?) is reliably charming and upbeat. I loved how she gave the thumbs up when filming 'the boys' at work.

Consider yourself fortunate with your eye injury son. Before you were born I had a welding burn in my eyes from using improper goggles for the type welding we were doing which landed me in the emergency room at a hospital which resulted in three days of eye patches and a large bottle of Codeine and Tylenol for pain reduction. Again compliments to the master rudder reconditioning carpenter.

Tip 1: next time stick some hot water in the fridge and a towel in the bottom and close it. This will melt the ice and there will be no need for chiseling. Tip 2: A fridge with a lid on top instead of the door type saves more energy because you don't dump all the cold air out every time you open it. Ps. I really like your boat it is a real pearl. Keep it up.

Use a hair dryer on the rubber on the refrigerator door, as the rubber tends to be looser and more shapable a little warmer. This would increase the volume of the rubber and seal it completely. see a video on youtube about changing these rubbers, that's how they do it. Great work tact on the boat as in editing and photography, they are perfect and the energy is very good. Thanks for sharing all the work is motivating and didactic.

Next time you get some thing in your eye, I have a trick to help. Take a full water bottle, use something sharp and round to poke a small hole into the top of the lid, and then spray the water into your eye , it’s basically like an eye washing station but all you need is a water bottle

Beware I have seen more than one evaporator punched through while deicing with a sharp metal tool, plastic is safer. A large spoon makes a excellent filleting tool, or even a scrap of stiff plastic cut to the radius you want. Saves having to sand filler after its set. We have just bought that exact same fridge - yours is the third brand I've seen on them! Just let the ice melt, dont go poking screwdrivers in there - puncture the refrigerant channels accidentally, and it's instant garbage

@@YourMom777-x3x Old salt but also 40 yrs of working as a coatings chemist in the paint and adhesive industry. I worked for a major manufacturer of Polyester resin but rarely use it. Its a wonderful product for building new FRP boats not the best for repairs on old boats. I am not saying it won't work but epoxy is better.
@ecclesheat
@ecclesheat 3 жыл бұрын
Easy to say but in reality would have taken weeks with expoy, cost 10 times more only achieved about 7% more adhesion and depending on the expoy might have had less hygroscopic resistance. Polyester is the optimum in this situation. Later down the line they can put expoy over it if they like. But I doubt they will need to.
@Capterikhansen
@Capterikhansen 3 жыл бұрын
Definitely epoxy for structural and underwater work. Polyester is great for above waterline and cosmetics in large amounts as it saves money. Rudders and skegs are not the place to cut costs.
@ecclesheat
@ecclesheat 3 жыл бұрын
Luckily the wood was the structural repair. Solvent based Epoxy can have less moisture resistance than a polyester layup. Not that I'm saying the repair was ideal. But what was original? Paint? Like wood boats? Their repair will last decades. People bag polyester I used to too. But with experience it's now my first choice for most things. I challenge you to polyester in a plastic through Hull glassing over the nut, then try removing it again.
