My "bride" of 41 years and I have been camping ever since we got married. Started with a pickup box shell, to a popup, travel trailers and then fifth wheels. We are now on our 7th camper. We consider ourselves pros by now, and yet we still have an "oops" now and then. We have learned over the years, just like our partnership in marriage, that when "stuff" happens to the camper we take it on as a team, just like you two do. If nothing else mishaps make for great campfire stories... As others below have said, don't beat yourself up for things that can be fixed. And Eternabond Tape is your friend and will last for years. How great it is for you at such a young age to follow you dreams and passions to be on the road together and making fantastic memories. My hats off to you both!!

Just a bit of advice, I have been driving tractor trailers for over 32 years. In watching your videos I have noticed you seem to stay in your lane when making turns. First always look ahead and be safe, and you can approach your turns and make a much wider turn. It's OK if you safely get into the other lane and make a much wider turn. You will be surprised by how much easier it is. Be safe.

If you want to conserve on the black tank when boondocking consider what we have done for years. We usually stay at our spot for 2-3 weeks. It may be gross to some, but it is what it is. We urinate in one of those his and hers plastic bottles found on Amazon. At some point we wander in the woods and away from our neighbor's we dump it. You will be surprised how much it cuts down on the black tank from filling. We also have a small bucket in the shower and catch the excess water when bringing the water up to temp. We then use this water for flushing the toilet when needed.

@@wildrvlife that is so true lots of people do drive bare foot down here. I don't know if you guys have ever seen the flex seal adds on tv, but I have used the flex seal rubber they have black and white rubber in a pint can. I think you can use a wide tape like duct tape turning the edges up to make a little dam area around where your roof is torn. make sure you clean the area good with alcohol, so it sticks really good. and I would use a small brush and put it on in layers letting it dry well in-between coats. I think this will fix it and you shouldn't have to replace the roof. and after you have coated it with the rubber, I would put a piece or two of duct tape over the rubber to keep the uv rays from the sun off the rubber and it should last for many yrs. without any trouble. I think you can find the flex seal online too.

@04:15, the hiking trail is more a maintenance road for the ski area than it is a ski run. Telluride is a bit too spendy in my book, I'd rather spend my time & money in the San Luis Valley and visit the Great Sand Dunes and other places where a pretzel isn't $10 or more with cheese! Also, barefoot driving is the way to go. You may be able to make a permanent patch there without replacing the whole roof, you'll just have to be vigilant about maintaining it.

Just wondering -- why fill up your fresh water tank "before" you travel. It seems to be a lot of extra weight -- we always fill up at the camping area or near there.

I'm so sorry, don't be too hard on yourselves. No one was hurt, that's what really matter.

@@wildrvlife on my HitchHiker back in the day I was on my way from my home in So Cal to Alaska and a loose staple cut a slit in my living room slide about 5 ft. long. Bought a roll of 4 inch wide EternaBond and fixed it on the road. It was still perfect when we traded it in 6 years later. Never leaked a drop.

I pored the concrete on the big house that you seen in town. There is a concrete tunnel from the old two car garage to the basement of the house but 14.8 mil is ridiculous

We are old and it used to be against the law to drive with out shoes 😂. As to your roof...it will be OK and won't be the last boo boo 😅

I also was just at a spot and had the same hill to get out of. Ended up having to us blocks to drive on one side to lift it. 🤪

I have heard a few stories about us not being the first to make this mistake 😅 not happy it happened to anyone else but also glad to know we aren’t the only ones! Lol we talked about using blocks if it got tooooo iffy. Though, it did get pretty iffy LOL
