Honestly I'm so relieved they brought back the base moveset from world, the rise version felt like the identity of the weapon had been lost

@@abuckethasoccurred the recitals go a long way in preserving that feel, even if after that 1st swing all the song playing attacks we saw were new. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw some Rise moves make a return since they do seem like they're taking bits and pieces from that game, but as long as the base is mostly old school HH I'm sure most that didn't like Rise will still be fine with it

So glad Wilds is going back to World's moveset. The increase in speed looks super welcoming, too. Can't wait till a demo drops and I can get my hands on a horn! One thing I want to make a comeback is the double notes from GU. But it doesn't seem like those are present, unfortunately.

I have in fact been suffering from an aversion to the word, "support". Whenever some KZbinr that doesn't play Horn calls HH a support weapon my eye twitches. Lol, but in all seriousness I was watching a new players video on HH and in the comments a guy stated that HH is more than just it's buffs and isn't really a support weapon. Then there was a reply to that comment of a guy saying that it is a support weapon because it's whole thing is playing songs, and damaging the monster is secondary. Yeah that comment didn't go over well, guy got blasted with replies. The MHW weapon overview really still has people convinced that it's a support weapon. The damage still hasn't been undone.

Hopefully it changes soon. A LOT more people seem interested in Wilds than World (just check out the view counts between all the trailers on the official channel!) so with any luck, them shifting the narrative now will fix the old misconceptions and start any new newbies on the right track. Some solid damage buffs might help too of course lol but even just how you phrase things when describing the weapon does a lot

Is it actually a problem if it’s considered support? My first MH experience was rise and I’m pretty sure it was considered support at that time, but do you think a noob like me cared? I played alone and picked HH because it was such a cool and unique concept to me. Behold my surprise when during actual online hunting I see nobody else rocking the coolest weapon. So, I what I mean is I don’t actually think people’s choice of main is all that influenced by what’s popular or what people say about a weapon. I know my choice was down to what felt right and looked coolest.

@@---jt5wg by itself? No, assuming you understand what that means in MH--that it's primarily a damage dealing class like everything else, but just so happens to also boost teammates. Problem is, not everyone gets that, especially now that the series is bringing in a lot of new people that might know 'support' from other games where it actually IS a more passive playstyle. Some people pick up the intended playstyle, sure, but you also get a lot that just kinda hang back drinking potions, spamming songs, and multiplying monster health with multiplayer scaling without directly helping take that down

@@---jt5wg It matters if it makes people turned off from trying it if they think they are supposed to be some kind of healer. Doesn't happen so much anymore, but I remember when world/Iceborne were newer you would see people play hunting horn like a healer, rather than a melee weapon. We call them corner horners. Just run around barely hitting the monster just playing songs. Because they think that's how your supposed to play it. HH is actually capable of very respectable damage output in world if you play it right. When people hear "support", many assume that it doesn't do as much damage. Then compound that with the fact that it is slower than most weapons, and has a somewhat intimidating mechanic to learn for new players, and doesn't have the immediate mass appeal of big cool anime moves, and you see the incredibly low usage stats. But honestly the main thing is the corner horners that were a problem in world. People got the wrong idea of what the weapon was supposed to be, and it caused many people to play the weapon far too passively.

@@chewbacachunks8644While I will agree it might be problematic like you mentioned. I cant help but still see it as a “support” or utility weapon. Like in Overwatch, they are called “Support” not “Healer” for a reason. They may provide team benefits, but can also deal loads of damage! And personally, I only play this weapon for its utility. I would call myself a support main not HH main. I only pick it up for status negation or certain aspect buffs like barrier spam, or in rise’s case, unlimited sharpness from Malzeno’s horn, that song set is too lenient for my party to pass on. I rarely pick it up for healing though, wide range is plenty for that. When not using HH I would go for high downtime weapon to utilize wide range instead, like GS or Bullet barrage gunlance, funny enough the frostcraft BB gunlance deals as much damage as my teammates while also having time to heal&save everyone, damn i love that build. This is just my opinion from a support main. I guess my whole point is that people have the wrong view of the word “support”

There is so much potential for Wilds horn (and honestly every weapon for that matter), and while I think it's gonna be amazing, I don't think we understand yet how great will be until we see that gameplay. Hopefully we have some heroes at gamescom that know how to play horn well! (Also pls capcom give us a demo soon!)

Good idea lol. I'm waiting to see some Gamescom gameplay, might try to make a bare bones 'guide' based off of what we see before release to be ready for the full rundown I'll make later on. I'm ready to dig into this new version of HH!

As someone who mained HH in World, im so happy its back to this style, but kept the cool stuff from Rise Just making Recital faster was the actual solution, rather than just kinda gutting the moveset and just spinning around Learning all the Right Swing angles, and doing fun stuff like walk out of a monsters attack then hitting them with the Back Swing is peak MH.

@@TeaTimeRumble right! This might finally be the game that hits the mark the closest with HH's identity. Fancy and aggressive, but still technical. I would've been a little disappointed if they'd just cut out all the Rise stuff cuz there were some good ideas there, but it looks like they dialed it back to add in juuuust the right amount

Regarding the song list, I do believe that it's different from world. The hunter seems to do echo waves in some of the clips, and the world song list doesn't have an echo wave.

I'm thinking that the extra sound waves might just be part of the recital attack now. They already added some when you swing; now we'll have some when songs activate too. That might mean that we won't have the old Echo Wave song, but we'll see!

@KPlaysHere I'm definitely hoping that echo waves are implemented into the moveset. Perhaps we could get more elemental waves than dragon.

@@hashimhassan4970 I don't know why they weren't all elements instead of just dragon. I'm guessing that it was to push elderseal, but a tool to dump elemental damage in bursts would've been a lot more useful

Man, I've also been watching that trailer over and over, just to bask in how rad it all looks. I cannot explain with words just how exciting Wilds HH looks in terms of what it all does: the new Echo Bubble, the Earthshaker-style focus strike, Sonic Smash, the clash move at the end. All very cool stuff. Also, I cannot imagine layered weapons not being in the game. I do hope they'll be Rise-style layered weapons rather than World-style but I highly doubt they'll go back to layered weapons being part of the augment system or whatever equivalent we're getting in Wilds.

@@Zarosguthif I had to do 2 videos on it I can only imagine how far I'm gonna end up digging into full gameplay... as long as the layered gear system is available early I'll be cool with it. Weapons I actually don't mind as much as armor. I'm not a fan of big bulky sets

I’m hyped I can’t wait for his videos after the event too! I think I’m going to go HH Bow. I feel I might be fucking up since the charms don’t add up together and skills but I always wanted to learn how to even though HH is my favorite and comfort pick.

@@WutherWave-qc3ud well, from talking to some Bow players you might be able to skip some of the usual cost management stuff between the stamina refilling dodge (which is nuts if you think about it) and the built-in unlimited coatings. Might make it a bit easier to run along with a melee weapon like HH

If song lists are the same/similar to old ones, there's a list with a song that just adds time to existing buffs that you could use to juggle 2 lists at once. It also has AuXL so you already have THE song covered lol, the secondary could have any utility you want

@@SilverTwinkle well LS balances out HH: they trip teammates, we support them 🤣 no clue on the corners though. Tbh I kinda hope that bubbles are needed for extending the range of the sound blast so people can't just spam that move from forever away

@KPlaysHere It is funny since you mention that this is not the first time they got a ranged attack, but theoretically, the cocoon is also a ranged attack in a way, so it's the third ranged attack it got :) I still wonder how the new songsets will look. Is it gonna be 1, 2 or up to 4 notes like in world? Also is there reason why they specifically have shown the Bone Horn for that? Maybe HH now has certain attacks depending on its Note Set?

I really want to see if they changed up song lists, aside from adding Echo notes and... whatever Rise was lol they literally haven't updated things there in over a decade. Moveset differences based on song list would be very interesting

@@KPlaysHere From what i've seen in the showcase it seems like it works like rises Melody Mode where you just need to play 1 Note. Never seen that guy do more than 1 attack before performing, so it's hard to say if it is truly just that. I really hope it's not. Other than that i am so ready to sink into another 3k hours into dooting things into oblivivion. I really hope we get a Demo after the Gamescom had it's Demo next week. I'll literally uninstall KZbin until i can get my hands on it myself.

@@SilverTwinkle I'm thinking that that just might've been how they cut the trailer. It'd be very weird to use Rise's 1-2 note thing after saying they're going back to World style, bringing back old(ish) style recitals, and bringing the Flourish back since that move was mainly for stringing notes together There are still 2 more demos at cons, so I'm guessing that they'd want to keep things there until after Twitchcon to keep people coming in. So maybe late September/early October for a public download demo? That's my best guess

the echo bubbles and echo wave moving the monster could do some cool tech like pushing a monster in place for a environmental hazard

Or straight into a trap maybe? Shoot, depending on how many Echo Bubbles you can place, if you can move monsters around with that attack I'd use it to keep them pinned near a big pile for max sound waves

I hope we keep Speed Boost/ Evade Window Up Echo bubble. At Endgame this was easily my favorite song. I would use a Horn with it over Attack Up

@@GoldenXShark22 exactly! All we can do is speculate for now (hopefully just until tomorrow!). It would be a really cool interaction though, and them choosing to show the move in a clip that has a bunch of Bubbles lined up seemed a bit too set up for me to think the moves are totally unrelated
