When we were working up in Darwin for a few months the locals almost universally said 'Litchfiedld Do, Kaka Don't'. The waterfalls at Litchfield are hard to beat. Great video, nice to re-visit the area through someone else's eyes. I am glad we did our trps years ago before the crowds blocked up every half way interesting spot.
@WildTouring Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately Litchfield is even worse for crowds. I guess because it’s cheaper, closer and so accessible! It’s definitely harder to find somewhere remote, or some solitude on the road than ever before.

Another good vid. I had 240 litres on roto moulded tank x2 but only got 160l. I modified breather position and put a pickup pipe on outlet. Got about 200 litres then. Wildlife up there is incredible. Thnx.

Eerr good onya "Dad".no Smashbutgers.😂😂😂. Oh loved the outages at the end. "Smells like poo "😂😂😂 You guys bought back some great memories of Kakadu. Yellow waters, a great cruise. Cahills crossing a must, and the sunset at the rock. Jurassic Park almost. Wasn't as expensive 20yrs ago from memory. But your here on earth for such a short time, you got to experience it. Glad you enjoyed your time. Travelling with a young family, does have its limitations. But you guys have had a taste, and one day might return. Loving this series. It's like stepping back in time for me, and next year, I'm going to do it with my adult Son and his wife. Cheers Mark... Ps. Love the backing sound track Cam...

Thanks for sharing, we really enjoyed your Kakadu trip. It's been many years since we were there. I travelled in a small tinny with 15hp motor through Jim Jim, Home waters and Yellow waters billabongs, they were all joined from an April cyclone. The sad part was we could not get to Katherine via Pine Creek and had to go back the Arnhem Hwy.

We stayed in Cooinda about a month ago and was shocked at the price. I think we paid $85 a night. The reception staff were super helpful and they printed the document without any charges. I learned on my travels that you pay for what you get, Cooinda camp ground is like a resort in the middle of nowhere. It’s like the Gibb and fuel prices. You can complain or just wear the cost for the experience. Cooinda and Kakadu were a highlight for our trip and I’d pay the price again.
@WildTouring Жыл бұрын
Yeah we look at it the same way, I don’t mind paying more if facilities are really good, there’s plenty to keep every one entertained and it’s convenient!

Cam did you notice a reduction % in your power input from the solar because of dust? Did you clean them at all on the trip? Cheers Jeremy
@kadachiman7234 Жыл бұрын
dust on solar panels has very little effect on your solar generation, less than 1%, however, if that dust gets wet and turns to mud then there is a substantial reduction in generation.

I lived in Jabiru and worked in Arnhem land for 8 years, it is such a pity that costs have got to the stage where it limits how many people can go see this wonderful place in Aussie. $100 per night for Cooinda (Yellow Waters) for a powered caravan site that offers average facilities is way too expensive.... especially when you realise that most of the staff are backpackers on minimum wage. 5-star hotel in Bali with breakfast included, etc

Canadian here, sorry, but why would a waterfall be closed for "cultural reasons"? I'm just curious, not meaning to start a ruckus or anything.
@WildTouring Жыл бұрын
It means it’s of significance to the indigenous, and with that comes boundaries to access/use/pass through certain areas ect.
@Tubaroo1975 Жыл бұрын
If a traditional owner with connection to that country passes then as part of sorry business it may get closed. Also may be closed for ceremony.

I lived in Darwin for many years, even before Kakadon't was declared. Most of it is clapped out buffalo country. I'll be damned if I am paying good money to the Aboriginals who already get 30+ Billion dollars per year from the taxpayer ! Litchfield Park is free, and so much nicer !
@merv190 Жыл бұрын
Sorry to say this here but if the YES gets in then these places will either be closed off completely or it will be hideously expensive to get into. I respect the lands and what they mean to the indigenous, it should be available to all. but not be abused. On another note, whatever happened to camping !! Toilet canister dumping priorities water worries with monitors that don't work, battery life power consumption, starlink, air conditioning, etc etc. Rant over.😊 Love your work guys. 👍
