I have to admit, even when watching the pour of the concrete the first immediate things that stood out to me was the fact ive NEVER in all my years seen concrete of that color.. Tan?.. nor have i seen such a loose and wet concrete pour. what were they using pancake mix? it was questionable from the start, The fact they were asking if Rebarb should be used... On a house build! Come on!!.. this is the problem, everyone wants to have their jobs get paid great but do crappy work. And yet the same people are always angry when businesses close, or others come along doing the work better and proper. its the reason why more and more of such jobs are now populated by foreign labor workers. they come into the country doing the job right, and the locals feel threatened get angry and jealous. with all that go back to your country nonsense. All it takes is doing the job right!, and if you have an issue as a contractor, let your client know, be honest!!! honesty goes much further in towards the positive than cutting corners, taking advantage of people or simply lying to cover your issues, which ultimately robs the client of what they paid for in faith. And what inevitably you will face as a result somewhere down the road. only to later find yourself asking why are such hard times falling upon you, when you have a history of screwing other people over. Those were four walls and a foundation and they couldn't even get that right. A crew of grown men, and yet here we have a party of two, with absolutely no experience or training in house building and theyve built themselves a superb home that could easily list for a near million on the current market, and they did it with just about no help. Josh said it right! Pathetic!

My thoughts are.. if the walls do not pass the psi tests... why tear them down? .. Instead use the 'bad' wall as a support for a second pour and that way you double the thickness of the basement wall. albeit.. the 'bad' wall becomes a faux wall for the inside... and the new wall, the support for the rest of the build. That is.. if the 'bad' wall doesn't just start falling apart over time, on it's own... argh...

Best thing you could do right now is tear down the walls. Your always gonna be unhappy with it, and it will haunt you. Take the right steps so you have some recourse on the concrete company. Theres not enough wall there to make the rest of the build go bad. Do it over, do it right

It all comes down to the concrete company using too wet of mud for the walls. I did my fair share of concrete walls in the past and we never added water. We used a vibrator to move and mix the concrete in the walls. The top of the walls are probably uneven because of how wet the concrete was. When I saw no rebar in the footings for the walls that was a red flag for me.

It’s hard going through something like this and especially when the person or persons won’t answer or contact you in anyway. I just don’t understand how people can do this. Hope it all works out but no matter you two will overcome!

Josh, I feel your pain. I too dealt with “professionals” who’s lack of knowledge to preform the work necessary to even meet building codes. As we grow older and wiser we realize that life is full of challenges, high and lows and I think both of you are dealing with it very well. It’s done with, you learned an important lesson and now it’s time to move on. Good men like you won’t be held back from your goals. Looking forward to your next video!!! Oh yeah, your homestead is looking great.

I went through a similar one with a roof company years ago, I did the same as you are & I redid the roof myself with the help of my brother. Sad when people don’t take pride in their work. I’m sure it will be done correct no matter what the outcome of the test. #josh&Erin💪🏻

Excellent Videos, As a Builder myself, I would pull the unit down. It needs re-bar and by not putting it in could result in failures later on. keep these Videos coming good luck

I would suggest having a lawyer in the wings in case the offending company tries a counter move on you. I have walked this path before and you are doing it right but I was glad that I had the lawyer as an Ace in the hole because the other side for me tried to get nasty. Also Erwin it's okay to cry. Its our emergency relief valve.

When I saw how watery the mix was I wasn’t sure it would be any good and the rebar situation was beyond belief.

I hope all goes ok in the end. I could hear on Arron's voice at one point you sounded like crying. You are such good people and for anyone to do this to you makes them super low

God bless you for taking the higher road with the concrete situation, it will come back to you 100-fold by you handling it the right way. Short term pain unfortunately but long-term gain. Keep on keeping on!

So very sorry that you dealt with a rogue contractor, but glad you caught the problems before continuing the build. The green egg was awesome, and your daughter is so pretty & growing so fast! Yours, is one of the first U tube videos that I started watching (from the beginning & I have enjoyed it immensely). Thank you for always keeping it real. Good & awkward. While I watch many family's, you are my favorite still! Awesome job guys & Family! Hugs & Blessings for your futures!
