Nah Wiley you trippin. You must have seen his tape. He’s always been able to slash. To address the “when did he start avg 20”, ironically slashing was one the main reason he didn’t avg 20. Slashing caused most of his ankle injuries, which (like you said) caused him to “out of necessity “ become even better than he was at shooting. Add the injuries to the fact they were still phasing out of the Mark Jaccson , and the “We Believe” era, and you can conclude that Steph wasn’t the first or second option. One of the main reasons they ended the “We believe” era was BECAUSE they wanted Steph to be the focal point. Once they made that decision, Steph TOOK OFF. Steph has always slashed, and went to the hole. He just taking what he’s been doing to the next level, the same thing he did with the 3. Somehow he went from injured, and not avg 20 to literally being l unguardable...... I’m with acho RIGHT NOW he top 8. Yup just like it's ludicrous to say 90s were the toughest most physical era. Although one and two hand checks were much more physical before the rule changed in 1976. Plus the prohop should be banned and the defensive 3 second because it's easier to score. Plus although before 76 the hand checks were more physical. The 90s hand check should be brought back. since the checks before 76 would everyone today. That's why I have MJ lower than the majority thinks he should be. Tougher more physical hand checks meant the older players couldn't do moves like MJ because they'd be hurt. Yet they were capable of doing it.

Kareem got the dunk outlawed in amateur basketball and we all learned the skyhook. Jordan showed up when they changed the rule back. Jordan didn’t change the game. But we started practicing fadeaway jumpers instead of skyhooks. However we already were doing everything else. Steph curry changed the game on the court. Jordan didn’t. That simple. I don’t compare Jordan to curry. The nba hyped Jordan more than anyone. I copied one Jordan move. The rest were Dominique dr j and Isaiah Thomas. I didn’t really appreciate that hype. It’s funny how Wiley’s own arguments can be used against him, He’s saying Curry can ‘t gets special consideration because he wasn’t the first to do anything that he’s doing well. But Jordan wasn’t the first to Dunk, He wasn’t the first to shoot a fade-away jump shot, He wasn’t the first to do any of the things he did. He wasn’t even the first to win 6 Championships. So, Wiley’s arguments are non-arguments… they make no sense. Curry and Jordan are comparable because of how well they did what they chose to do. Everything Jordan did, others were doing it before him… remember Dr. J? What Curry did was focus on the 3-point shot and took it a lot more than others before him. And to make them at a 40% clip his entire career, when most other 3-point shooters were making then less than he was, changed the way Teams organized their defenses. Jordan impacted the game because coaches changed their defenses to focus on the four other players on the court, since they succumbed to the fact that they couldn’t keep him from scoring. Curry impacted the game because coaches had to changed their defenses to account for the distance he was making 3-pointers from, which open the floor like no other time in the history of the game.

Magic said MJ took the game above the rim and this was due to his athleticism. Many players followed. Curry took the game well beyond the 3 pt line as a matter of course. He was able to do it off the catch like others but off the dribble unlike others. Curry dismissed the slow-footed Goliaths from the League something Jordan was not able to do. Now they must be able to step out and guard the perimeter and be capable of making treys. Arvydas Sabonis was Nikola Jokić before he got old and injuries shortened his career. Drazen Petrovic was on his way to being a star in the league, but died in a car accident. Detlef Schrempf was a good player, and would have had an even better career if his talents were utilized better. Toni Kukoc was pretty good, too. Rik Smits. Anyone remember him? Europeans weren't highly sought after because they played finesse basketball, and struggled with the physicality of the NBA. That's not my opinion, that's a fact. A flagrant 2 from today was just a common foul back then. Guys were stronger back then, and they weren't up and down the court shooting 3s. Different era, different style of play. You also have to account for stat inflation. So no, there's no evidence that Luka, Giannis, and Nikola would have been any better than those old school players. Those guys are so good in the NBA today because the NBA has changed to a finesse style league like in Europe.

Statistically even, due to Steph the spacing is crazy, the warriors play a very unique type of basketball that allows everyone to shine yet they're unselfish, and Steph's impact on the game is more than Mike's. Like he said, Mike did what everyone else did but just extremely better at it. He didn't cause players to move outward from the paint just to guard a 3 while someone is transitioning to the basket. They'd rather cover the 'possible' 3 than the almost inevitable 2 pts which no one in the 90s would almost even think twice about.

We can say that they are comparable with the effect they had on the game in the NBA. Jordan impacted the game internationally and he performed great both in the regular and post season. Curry changed the game with the 3 point shot. The game changed wherein a lot of teams nowadays let them 3s fly. That would be the comparison between these 2 in my opinion. But with the way they impacted the games they played, Jordan has the edge. He is perfect in the finals. Curry had times in the post season that he was absent and did not play to the level that we know he can play. I love both of these players. The biggest question is could Steph play in an era when Gary Payton or Dumars could keep a hand on him. I would venture that most of the great NBA players have someone who inspired them. If the inventor of basketball were to watch today's game, he would probably have no clue of what's going on. In the 50's and 60's BB was kinda boring. Two-handed set-shots were common. Getting a lead and freezing the game were also common.
