Disney needs some help to pick up again. Whatever happened to the joy of telling a fantasy story of wonder? I grew up on the VHS tapes of the old stuff, like Snow White, Fox and The Hound, Pinnocio, Dumbo, all that stuff. Nostalgia alone isn't why those are good. Sometimes I hardly remember them due to my ever shortening attention spam and long term memory. But they are good films. I'll tell you what they have that those reboots doesn't: fantasy. Movies like those were made to be fictional, to tell a story in ways actors and humans alone could not. And sometimes they were mature, not like inappropriate or adult mature, but they didn't hold your hand. There was death or loss of a parental figure often shown in movies like Bambi, Dumbo and F&H. They weren't gritty, but they used the fictional characters to convey the message. These reboots, instead, try and be as realistic as possible, forgetting that taking away the fantastical elements is draining the films of what they were supposed to be. They lack any depth beyond flair and nostalgia, being made in an age where even grown adults can't handle serious topics or minor inconviencies, and where the attention span has lowered drastically since the articulate age the originals were made in. Is it gonna change? Are we just gonna get worse?

Nostalgia CAN be done properly. Just look at Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Top Gun: Maverick.
@inciniumz46712 жыл бұрын
@@wizardoferror9942 I'm not saying it can't. What I am saying is that Disney has been relying on that with their reboots without understanding why people loved the originals.

Oh yeah. The original 1977 Disneyland Records one, and the 1990 version with Mary Kay Bergman as Snow White. There's also a 2001 version of the latter, where the film music was replaced by regular Disney Read Along music. And is one of those that you can play as a CD ROM. I have all three of these.

I’m a little worried about Strange World and the future of the Disney Animated Canon. Given that Strange World bombed at the box office, it’s possible that Wish could be Walt Disney Animation Studio’s swan song. I’m also worried that Strange World won’t be available on Disney+ in the future and that Disney will do a tax write off of that film. Also, I don’t see anything wrong with gay/lesbian people.
@wizardoferror99422 жыл бұрын
Also Disney has been treating Snow White like a common doormat lately. It’s like they’re forgetting that Disney wouldn’t be where they are today without her. And her 85th anniversary so far has been bad. EDIT: I also forgot to mention that cockney live action film that’s in production! A Latina girl playing a character that’s literally named “Snow White” and this version of the character being physically strong rather than emotionally strong. What can go wrong?
