Fuel filter? Lots of the new fuel filters have a check valve inside them to prevent the fuel from running backward out of the carb draining the float bowl. At least in my C20 and C30 (85 and 88) had them. My K5s don't use the Rochester filters in the carbs. Some of these new check valves don't seat well, some get stuck slightly open. That causes issues. 1) drains the float bowl empty causing hard starts and 2) only allows a few lbs fuel pressure causing the truck to run out of gas under full throttle. Drove me crazy as I put a new filter in last year but when I pulled it out I could barely push the check valve open inside the filter. Once it moved it got stuck maybe 2-3% open. The truck sat for 20 years. Even though I drained the fuel and added a new filter / pump, still had some gunk hiding between the tanks. Is a dual 20gal tanks / camper special

Wow I've been looking all over and just found your channel about changing the selector valve. What did you use to get to unscrew those bolts mine is like yours it's so freaking tight to get to.

I used a boxed end and just had to be very patient. A swivel head ratcheting wrench would have been ideal

@@roussmotorco Okay gotcha damn there is hardly any room at all I'm definitely going to mount it in a easier place once I change it out. I really appreciate you getting back to me thanks again 👍👍

@@roussmotorco Get a floor jack under there, 2X4 on one of the floor supports and jack up the body (not the chassis). Don't jack it to the point you here stuff cracking, lol, just depress the rubber mounts a little. Pretty sure I got around another 1/2 to 3/4 inch by jacking up the body a bit. Another option is to get a 1/2" drive breaker, break the body mount bolt loose, then ratchet it out. That will get you a few inches. Put a 2x4 between the chassis and the cab floor to protect your hand in the event the floor jack craps out

Hi there, my selector Valve was also leaking from the vent port especially when switching tanks. I got air in the system after switching tanks and I’m blaming the valve because I don’t see any other leaks in the fuel lines . Do you have to prime the system after replacing the valve or will it bleed by itself if u let idle?
@roussmotorco5 ай бұрын
It bled itself for me. But I think I need a switch now.

Did you paint your stock rims yourself?
@roussmotorco Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I would have had them powder coated if they were in better condition. But I did like 3 coats of color and 5 clear

Did it start cold after? Hope that was the whole problem.

Still won’t start cold. Gotta do injectors

Glow plugs or relay if it starts warm and won’t start cold.
