I'd rather have them cook up the new installment a bit longer anyway. The longevity of New Horizons was cut short for me by the limited NPC dialogue. I technically have so much content left but I can't really be bothered since I don't feel a connection to any of the NPCs.

Would buy, iiiiiif they fix the bland and repetitive dialogues and personalities, that was a big down for me (and the lack of bulk crafting 😅) i really enjoyed new horizons and really want a new AC.

There's two competing factors when it comes to releasing the next AC game. On one hand, ACNH was huge, so Nintendo won't want to wait too long for a new installment. On the other hand, AC targets a wide, diverse audience, so you want time for consoles to get out there to have a big base ready at launch. The way I see it they'll want to get the console to dedicated gamers first with a big single player experience and one of two big multiplayer games. Holiday is where they can start to broaden the audience, which is the earliest I could see for a new AC. Really though I'd expect to wait until '26 or' 27.

The longer we wait for the next Animal Crossing, the better it'll be (probably). So if we wait until, say 2040 or 2050, it'll be the greatest game of all time, right?

Agreed. I feel like had they worked on New Horizons a bit longer, it would have been a much better game. It's a visually pleasing game, but playing-wise there's a lot of things that don't make sense.

@@gypsywoman9140 gameplay wise and simulation wise, New Leaf is just... Better. NH feels like Animal Crossing themed Minecraft vs a life sim. Crafting was too much of an intrusive gimmick and terraforming was far too easy. I think terraforming does have a place in Animal Crossing, but there should be like a "schematic" editor then the player should have to raise funds as a public works project to apply the changes or something

I’m excited for new animal crossing release, because I was REALLY late to the party on new horizons, the only AC game I’ve played, I wasn’t even around for the Raymond era.. so yea it will be cool restarting with all these youtubers, because I will discover stuff with them! Only problem is, will my parents buy me the new one?

I'm a supporter of the 7 year gap theory simply because they seem to release one new *main* Animal Crossing per Nintendo console. Since Nintendo used to have a console AND handheld at the same time, we would get a new game once every 3-4 years. Now we only have one "hybrid" console, so we'll be getting a new game once every 7 years if they stick to that approach (which they seem to be doing with other games that follow that release pattern, like Mario Kart). Just be glad y'all aren't F-Zero fans and actually have a chance at a new game coming out :)

In the back of my head I like to think that the Welcome Amiibo update was going to bring New Leaf to the Wii U in a similar fashion that Smash Bros. was on both. Imagine being able to sync your village up with the game on Wii U and playing it both on console and mobile.

I agree that a 3D Mario game will likely be a launch title. I'd personally be up for a sequel to either Super Mario Sunshine or Super Mario Odyssey, or a new game entirely - but I also think a sequel to either of those games would be fine. (At this point I feel like a Sunshine sequel is unlikely, given how long ago the original released...but anything is possible I suppose) Also, maybe a video idea for you? Go through each hourly track in each game and make your perfect/ideal playlist - so listen to 1am from each game and pick your favorite of the four, then 2am from each game & pick your favorite, then 3am, etc. for each hour of the day. Doing this was a fun way to reminisce on the series. Mine is as follows: Population Growing - 12am, 6am, 8am, 4pm, 5pm, 9pm Wild World/City Folk - 4am, 9am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, 10pm New Leaf - 1am, 3am, 10am, 11am, 1pm, 7pm, 8pm, 11pm New Horizons - 2am, 5am, 7am, 6pm Also, maybe included in that video idea - which of the secret songs in ACNH do you think would most likely be the theme of the next Animal Crossing game (assuming Nintendo holds to the same pattern that they've held to so far)?

Yes, I somewhat agree about the types of gamers Nintendo would want to sell the new system to. They want people to buy the console day one and continue to buy new games as the console ages. I know most AC hardcore fans would buy a console just to play AC. Which, Nintendo gets a lot of their business from people buying multiple games. However, if they also make another console update like the switch lite then they would sell those like hotcakes with AC. My hope is the new game would come out in 2026, guessing that the new console will be out in 2025. That would, after all, be 6 years since NH’s release

I don't think we will get a new Animal crossing in the next three years. I would not be surprised if the gap is even longer than it was with New Leaf and New Horizons :( I really hope I'm wrong though but I don't see them releasing a new Animal crossing any sooner than a year after the new console releases

Yeah, they definitely won't do that they want to sell the new console, and allowing the games for the new system to be played on the older ones will not accomplish that. They may make the Switch 2 Backwards Compatible, meaning you can play the older Switch games on the newer system.

@@sserenity13 yeah, the technology is "backwards compatibility", meaning you can play the games from the backlog on the new console - so the ds took gameboy advance, the wii took gamecube, the 3ds took ds

Why not a 4K update for New Horizons? Just. Update it! Uncap the resolution! Shouldn't be too hard with the new hardware still being Nvidia, which probably means the software won't change much.

Well I hate to break it to u I went to GameStop on July 19 2024 i didn’t see a copy of animal crossing new horizons on the shelf at all so they freaking get rid of it & the shelf is full of mario game now so i picked up two game up because it is there & i can’t say no for it anyway & Nintendo company are actually moving on & making more mario game & remake game for younger audiences now instead of making animal crossing games

yes I also think that's bullshit. sure AC attracts other players than the majority of switch games but a lot of people would buy a switch solely for animal crossing no matter when it releases, so I think it would actually be a really good release title.

I hope they would be willing to have a bit more personality than they do currently, and have some villagers actually be mean like in older games. Though it’s unlikely they’ll do it since Animal Crossing has gotten more popular, and don’t want parents complaining about the villagers making their kids cry even if it’s something the community wants, and probably say something about wanting to stay family friendly as to the reason the villagers don’t have that much variety in the dialogue. Obviously with so many villagers it’s difficult to have more dialogue for individual characters, but who else would like some villagers to be mean, and your reasons Nintendo wouldn’t do that.
