Will CRO505 fix oil consumption on high mileage Prius with 330k miles

Will the CRO505 fix or help in any way with the oil consumption on my high mileage Toyota Prius or is it just snake oil?

You really want to do the piston soak. soak it twice for a day each and then make sure you change your oil. FIll up that combustion chamber. From what i have seen the burning oil is because of the carbon or sludge buildup around the pistons.

Try the Valvoline High Mileage, it has a very nice pack of additives of seals rejuvenator properties. You can also combine that Valvoline High Mileage with the AT-205.

Not quite the flavor of snake oil that I expected. However, that 505 CRF might help the engine running smoother. Pretty sure the only way to fix that potential head gasket leak it to take that SOB apart and put a new gasket in!

Yeah the 505 did make it run smoother. Havent heard the head gasket theory yet. Would be nice if it was that easy and not the piston rings. I will have to look into that and see if there is a way to tell if its the head gasket. Thanks for the info!

​@MangieRaccoonsGarage the 505 is just a cleaner for your engine. It just straps the carbon and old oil of the pistons really really good. It doesn't really help with oil burning, but it will make your engine run way better. The fuel treatment is the same, especially in older cars with carburetors.

Same experience. Cro 505 showed no improvement on my 2.4 Honda with 165k. Same noises and no change in oil consumption.

First, I assume you have done the most obvious and replaced your PCV and pulled the valve cover to de carbon the sludge from the baffles. Otherwise, at that mileage, what you have is oval shaped cylinders from normal wear. Oval, from the thrust direction of the connecting rods. It’s something that’s often unique to inline 4’s. We used to see it regularly at our dealership with extremely high mileage engines. Side note: if you only have blue smoke for a few seconds after initial overnight startup, that’s valve stem seals. No smoke but excessive oil consumption, rings/cylinders.

This is some really good information. Indeed, I have replaced the PVC and already done the cleaning. Also not even a slight hint of smoke after overnight start up. It could just very well be from getting that oval shape from super high mileage. I am hoping it could maybe just be dirty stuck rings. It seemed to have come on really quick. Up to about 315k it was only using 1/4 qt per 5k and now its about 1 to 1.5 qt per 5k

@@MangieRaccoonsGarage The worst cases were the old Toyota Tercels that only held a total of 4 qts. If it was consuming 1 qt per 1000, which was acceptable, there was no way it would make it to the oil change milage that was stated in the manual. 6K or whatever it was. We did LOTS of short blocks because of ovaling.

Try flushing more oil changes. Mobil 1 100 % synthetic eliminated the ticks for me. But takes a few changes. Try changing 1-2 weeks

I stopped using mobile1 because of excessive consumption. Now i use a synthetic blend and it has dropped considerably. Not zero but probably half as much. 07 with 300k+

i used 10 w 30 and mine. and it quit using oil but i dont think u shoud run that oil winter 10w30. i keep dumping b 12 in my gas and some seafoam i run e30 in mine and it runs much better and i now get 56mpg was only 31mpg i changed plugs not the coil packs. it dont use a lot of oil mine but the gas gauge doesnt work at all and sometimes the hybrid batter is in the purple before the engine starts up so i always turn the heater or a/c on full blast so the engine has to start to force charge the batter wish i could figure that out be nice. i cleaned the mass air flow sensor that was full of dirty oil i have no idea how this engine is able to run did look in oil fill cap when engine is runnings it blow lots of air out smells like burnt gas, might have a bad engine i can turn the engine by hand easy with one hand but mine dont use a lot of oil if i turn the engine over a tiny bit back it forth i get the metal clunk in either engine or transmission would anyone know what it could be when it shuts of some times but always it makes a clunk noise and stops sometimes when it starts it struggles to start and makes clunking noise then once it fires of then it ticks a tiny bit not bad the oil filler cap once taken off is dark brown looks like sludge im thing lack of oil changes and im sure engine is tired i see u can get used engines for 600 not to bad i just bought pair of front suspension and steering stabilizer kit for 150 on ebay cheap. and my water pump for the inverter is so loud buzzing i bought a new one for 24 bucks should i change it and is it supposed to be load like a buzzer noise when engine shuts off.

Using a thicker oil does usually slow or stop oil burning. However using a thicker oil like 10w30 vs 5w30 so that oil is twice as thick when its cold and could be more harmful in the long run, especially when first starting up for the day and when cold out. As for the battery, it should not be getting down in the purple over night. Sounds like you may have a bad cell or two in the main traction battery or they are just all just out of balance pretty far. I had something similar with an 04 I had. I picked up a special hobby charger/discharger/conditioner and I pulled the traction battery and the main bus bar and set the charger to fully discharge and charge each cell 5 times. It kept log of capacity and it went up with each cycle. seemed like 4 was really only needed, but I did 5. but in the end the capacity was restored and the cells were balanced. when I got it back together it was loads better. This will also be able to tell you if you have a bad cell or not and if you do have a bad cell, you can usually pick up a replacement cell for like 20 bucks on ebay. A back yard trick to check how well the battery is doing is when you have it charged up, 2 cells down from top. turn on the ac to max and start a timer to when the battery gets down to 2 cells left and the ICE comes on. on my 04 it was something like 30 seconds before the re balance and 5 minutes after.

@@MangieRaccoonsGarage mine goes up in the green sometimes but drive it a tiny bit and it drops fast and goes halfway down in 1 min or so with a/c on the battery drops fast in the summer and the winter it would stay charged a lot time. but it stays in the purple and the engine wont start up i put it in maintenance mode and it wont charge the better of it does it will for a min and go from purple up one bar and then quit charging it shakes down the road at 58mph and no power now mileage is bad. the engine revs up and idles really low then shut off shaking the car makes a loud clank in the transmission. then starts up and makes a loud noise ill do a video sometime. not sure if i should fix it im worried that the transmission is going out does odfd things i put a new 12v battery didnt help the odd things it does like the fuel gauge dont ready right doors won unlock right. drops the cruise control a lot. does such weird things a red triangle light came on for a day then went off but no check engine light a no codes. also while driving on highway speeds its jerking and bunking as i slow down and speed up with the throttle never done that sounds like somethings loose in the transmission area when the engine is running and shuts off and starts up very loud noise rattling. when its off i moved the engine with my hand kinda easy and it moves back in forth feels like very little compression ands makes a loud metal clunk kinda scares me i already put all new cv axels suspension bearings whishelds. 12v battery its an acid on not a amg battery i couldn't afford that. also idk what to do it keeps getting worse the vibration as i try to keep fixing it im gonna give up on it and buy a newer lower millage one i think. its the first hybrid car i ever owned i love it just wish it wouldnt have all them problems im scared to touch the hybrid battery dont know a thing about it. i never hear a fan in the battery run in the back ro feel anything come out the vents does it make noise? or can feel air?

oh wow, yeah something sure doesnt sound right about any of that. Does almost seem like a transaxel problem, but its hard to say without getting to see it. Perhaps see if you can find a good hybrid tech near you to check into it and see if it is something major or not. maybe it can be fixed up and get it running like it should without spending too much and if it is something major then can decide if worth putting money into it or see if can find something else.

Dont put shit in your engine , Just change the oil regularly with good oil and filters . If you are doing regular maintenance and the engine is burning oil then nothing you poor into it will fix it ! You may melt your seals like the guy sais , you may ruin your bearing surfaces or it may do nothing at all but there is no magic engine rebuild in a can . 1 quart every 6000 miles is fine for most engines , dont touch it . If you are burning more than that then consider the "Italian tune" ,and if that does not work then just go ahead and look for a repair shop .

Interesting, I had to look into that. The Mobile 1 Advanced full synthetic, that I have always been using until this video says it is. Checked out HP lub's website for stats and it says its Resource Conserving. not sure if thats the same or not. ill add a link to check that out. So far I have only about 100 miles since I did this oil change, so I dont have a true running average, but I will be keeping track for the 2500 miles till next video. but so far my average MPG has gone from 44 to 50 with this oil over Mobile 1. I am curious to see long term over several tanks of gas to 2500 to see if it over all comes in at and if its really an improvement or not.
