A big part is the original license from Rowling. HP must be in every park at a certain level of quality and new films must be acknowledged to keep the lands fresh. That’s why Gringotts is set in movie 7 and Hagrid’s moterbike is ‘Fantastic’. If the latest movies had done well, then Paris and its ride would be a natural extension. Since they didn’t, they had to awkwardly shoehorn in the tie back to the original films. Outside the ride, it is largely tied to the latest films. You should find the license and read it. It was leaked a while ago and quite interesting.

Epic Universe will be a problem for Disney. In the recentvideo from Poseidon entertainment it was discussed that Disney is comparable to a tech company. Instead of improving the park experience Disney has chosen to impress investors with their latest animatronics. But epic universe will have the most advanced tech in an american park. If Disney isn't seen as the great innovator then the other problems will be more apparent. The Disney themeparks are often critizised that they are too expensive and if they aren't seen as the great innovators, then they have less reasons to justify their high prices.

On the other hand, I see Disney as Apple. They used to be innovative. They didn't invent the smartphone, but they made it popular because of their walled garden and amazing and consistent experience. Universal is like Android and their army of OEMs ( Google, Samsung, OnePlus). They innovate constantly and stuff feature after feature in a more affordable package. Every year many people upgrade their iPhones even if it's the same phone feature wise over and over. Apple is surviving on Brand loyalty alone, which is just like Disney. Now that Android phones are not only competitive but in most cases more feature rich with the same level of quality as iPhones, Apple is having start to play catch up by adopting features introduced by Android years ago ( ie USB c)

@@remyd8767 Hmmm...I wouldn't say adopting USB-C was a great thing for the iPhone. It didn't really improve the user experience in the end. Not really a great example. I don't really see where there's massive innovation on Android's side that Apple needs to adopt to stay competitive. Apple is still bringing in record revenues and profits. Disney however isn't.

Casuals just flock to them because it's the it phone, even though it's consistently more expensive remember to the competition. They haven't added anything innovative in some time. They are like what Disney is. Brand loyalty. And price hikes

My thoughts are, and I am probably wrong, is that the design for the area was already committed to before the movies took a nosedive in the theaters....that being said, the Ministry Of Magic in Harry Potter's world is in London....and who wants another area devoted to London? By staying with the 1920's Paris landscape, it's something new, and gives a salute to the Fantastic Beasts movies(and more, because I've read somewhere that Eddie Redmayne is supposed to show up somewhere, either in the show that's in the tent, or in the Battle Of The Ministry attraction)💜

there is a reason why HP rides at both ioa and studios have the highest wait times by a huge margin compared to the other ips. Granted if we got some amazing other ip rides whos to say it could change.

Will Epic Universe humiliate Disney? I really hope so. Disney used to be my favorite place to visit and I love what Walt created. I still love what Walt created; however, current day Disney is not Walt’s Disney. The people running the place have lost Walt’s vision and are using the company to promote their own interests. I won’t support that.

As far as the drop or lift, it's going to feel like you're going up or down or left or right. There's a ginormous LED screened room that will help make it feel like it's more than what it really is...along with fans built into the ride vehicles. They also will have a giant LED screened room that a large battle happens in.

Tho I agree the HP lands are well executed, however, Universal has an issue where they struggle to "stick the landing" on so so much of their stuff.. even compared to when Disney shoots itself in the foot or cuts too much of it's budget. There is just some magic missing from most of Universal's parks. And every trip I have taken that included a trip to both Universal Parks and Disney Parks.. the little things always skewed in Disney's favour.. the prices (despite many online people raging that Disney is nickel and dimung you, but sing praises for Universal... if you actyually analyze the prices and quality of the two companies, Universal does tge same if not worse than Disney).. Disney food, cleanliness, immersion, even cast member attitude has always been better for me. And everyone I have ever gone to both sets of parks with.. spent most of the day at Universal being like.. ugh.. Not as nice as Disney (again the only possoble exception was SOME of the HP stuff.. where it was on par with Disney).

You don’t even need to really know anything about Harry Potter to enjoy the area. My son knows the IP inside and out mostly from the books and I’ve casually watched the movies but I don’t know all the details. I’m impressed with both current lands every visit. It’s very immersive.

Epic Universe will only have a total of 13 attractions. That's rides and shows in total. It's large yes but it's an oversized Universal Studios Hollywood. Yes the 4 major rides will be awesome with the few coasters but the shows don't seem interesting. The Harry Potter Ride is wanted as much as the Monsters ride. They are both wanted at Hollywood and one or the other is definitely getting built behind Hogwarts after Tram station moves back to lower lot. It will be packed but Upon opening it will still be a half day park but due to the size of the place it will take all day long to experiance it.

it's also not a land of fantastic beast just a time in the Wizarding World. It's Wizarding World they are creating. They tried to make it a universe like Marvel and Star Wars after the 7th film Warner Bros was like we got this franchise and it's soon to die off. So Paris is jutmst a location set in the fantastic beasts era yes but not specifically for those characters only. Ministry of magic is basically like the White House for the wizard world

Normally I would agree they are over milking a franchise, especially one that hasn't had a successful movie in years. That said Harry pottery is special. Even if you don't care for the movies it's still Fantasy. People like witches, wizards and magic above and beyond the franchise itself.

It will balance the scales in Orlando. Magic Kingdoms will ultimately stay on top. The recent updates to Epcot really calls into question as to whether Disney is into theme parks or if they build generic high school cafeterias

I've debated the super hero fatigue a 1000x. Regardless of your stance you can't say it doesn't exist and some super hero movies or even all won't have some versions of diminished returns. Deadpool doing 1.3 billion instead of 1.7 or something to that affect. I think if your looking to pin potter vs disney they'll say fatigue. But in this case i think people want variety. Way too many options for universal and the same 5 or 6 continually get mentioned

I don’t think it will humiliate Disney entirely because something that most people don’t seem to understand is a larger chunk of Disney fans are Disney only people they will not go to other parks. They think anything not Disney is lesser then. I know many of them. I finally went to Universal Orlando in 2023 and loved it but when I told my Disney only friends about it they were not interested because it was not Disney. Is that their loss? Sure are they wrong for not trying other things? Maybe. But at the end of the day for majority of these Disney fans Epic is not going to change their minds. The other thing Disney has that Universal Studios does not is Disney has many rides that everyone can go on. Universal has a lot of roller coasters that many people will not go on and they don’t seem to have a lot of family rides that all ages and height requirements can enjoy together compared to Disney parks. My mom came with me on my trip and she didn’t have as good of time more than 1/2 the rides she couldn’t go on due to them being to intense or screen rides that make her sick and she wasn’t interested in the themes because they weren’t Disney. At Disney parks she can go on almost every ride and we enjoy our time on the slower dark rides. Disney also had better entertainment that she enjoys. She was hot and bored at Universal and called it quits and stayed at the hotel for the rest of our stay. I felt bad for bringing her because she was very disappointed.
