Will I succeed in building a vacuum system for this lathe? Pass or fail? (Part 1 of 2)

I have the ultimate setup for a vacuum system on this lathe... at least I think I do. Everything seems to be going great, except for the final result. What went wrong here? This is part one of a two part video.

Well, in pro baseball terms this is like batting .250 your first season. Doesn't sound great but you're still on the team!

Start with the vacuum gauge first. Either change it or have it checked. It would probably be the cheapest and easiest thing to troubleshoot. If the gauge is good then you would have to move on to check the pump. It could be that the motor is not running at a high enough RPM to create the needed vacuum. Good luck.

First thing I would check is to see how much vacuum the pump is capable of pulling. My guess would be the relief valve is set to low. With my setup there is no relief valve just the ball valve adjustment. Great to see you are moving on with your life. Just trust God with your life. Do you think ghe hole in the small pipe needs to be more like at least a half inch?

Couldnt see top of gauge you bought super well but does it have a vent that needs to be cut open will change your reading a little. might not be your full issue but will help you get a more true reading of actual vacuum
