I enjoy watching your "Will it Freeze Dry" videos. They inspire me to try similar meals in our Harvest Right. It appears that you and your staff enjoy a real sense of "family" working together. Keep the videos coming please.

Full dishes are really fun. But try to make a big batch when no one else is around or you won't have any to go in the Freeze Dryer!

LOL The can of parmesan looks like a can of Comet cleanser. (I like these videos and can't wait to get my own freeze dryer. This looks like total fun.)

Why don’t you guys do videos anymore. You were the first ones I started watching when I got my Freezedryer and learned so much. Miss you an awful lot❤

Jen is correct in that everyone has their own taste when it comes to making goulash. There is no right or wrong, it's all about your own personal preference. I have my own favorite recipe and I stick with it, but I'm not gonna knock somebody else for making theirs different.
@EpicenterBryan7 жыл бұрын
Send your recipe! I want to make several big batches for my own preparedness, so any tweaks people like, I'm all over it. The last batch was great - but yours might be even better!

I've recently ordered a Harvest Right and haven't received it yet. I really enjoy watching your videos. You guys are a cool group of people. Almost like a little reality show. My goal is to make "Mountain House" type meals that you can rehydrate, right in the bag. So pre-cooked meals that I can throw in a pack. Have you tried any of your foods, rehydrated in the bag?

Great! Let us know what you changed and if you think it made the dish better. I want to do MANY loads of this since it turned out so well. Would love to try any changes you come up with...
@carolpanepinto54847 жыл бұрын
I kind of followed Jenny's recipe except I did not have any chives handy. This is the first time I have put garlic in goulash and love it! Added some fresh green pepper since I used plain canned tomatos. Don't have a pressure cooker so just made it in a pot. I did not have a lot left over (it was so good) so I put some liverwurst slices and a beef slider as well as some grated cheese in the batch. Had one full tray of goulash, another half tray of goulash with the liverwurst and slider, third tray was about half full of grated cheese. Well the goulash seemed to freeze dry well, had a little bit of oily residue but not a lot. Liverwurst (already frozen) and ground beef slider (raw and frozen) came out nice and dry. But the cheese-did not do well. Hard cheese pieces in an oil puddle. Put the cheese in the fridge and hope I can use it. So thumbs up on the goulash but not doing cheese again. :-)
@EpicenterBryan7 жыл бұрын
Interesting. I didn't have any issue with 4 trays of grated cheddar cheese. As for liverwurst, I never would have thought that was possible. I love it but figured it was full of fat. But it worked?
@carolpanepinto54847 жыл бұрын
Yes it worked great for the liverwurst. Of course I only did three I'm guessing 1/2 inch slices since I have the small freeze dryer and it does not hold a lot. And the cheese I used was actually cheddar and it came out terrible. I am beginning to think it is something other than fat content that makes things freeze dry well-or not. Avocado freeze dries well and it has a high fat content. and the raw hamburger I freeze dried still had all the fat intact where I did drain some fat off in the goulash and it is the same hamburger. Both the liverwurst and raw hamburger were already frozen

Pressure cooker tip. Put a big binder clip on the cooker and liner to keep it from spinning when you stir.

Where do you get those fantastic Huge ziplock bags that the pasta was in? I've seen those in several of your videos. Goulash is one of my favorite foods. (I never measure either Jenny) I could do with out the celery seed unless your adding hot sauce olives and a pickle for a bloodymary goulash. Lol

I've done goulash and spaghetti they both took quite a while to dry they turned out great I found the macaroni took a little longer to rehydrate than the spaghetti
@EpicenterBryan7 жыл бұрын
Yep - It did surprise me how much water came out of those batches. But the noodles turned out great when re-hydrated with zero cooking. Those crazy noodle contain so much liquid when they are the correct texture.

J M there are so many versions of Goulash in the world now a days and what was made here by Jenny was just one version of just one version of "American Goulash". I know here in the US it is a very popular dish made while camping.

Haha, I was already going mad..."American Goulash", oh boy
@JM-or9dp7 жыл бұрын
It's not even close, doesn't look like goulash at all. That's like me making a pancake and calling it an "Bosnian donut" :D
@TheresaForino7 жыл бұрын
J M if you look at the Wikipedia article Epicenter Bryan posted it will explain the history and diversity of Goulash. Many countries have their own version of it with only one thing in common being that it's a a highly seasoned soup or stew of meat and vegetables with ingredients vary from country to country and region to region. There are a lot of foods out there that have the same name but are different depending on the country, you mentioned pancakes well they are different all over the world same as doughnuts. So your example just another example of how a food can be so diverse around the world!
