Technology itself is not to blame for negative impacts on our lives. It's more the human attitude we apply to it. Our destructive and rapacious greed for profits and power will ultimately end humanity on planet earth if we cannot find different life sustaining values in our lives. Values which strengthen positive human potential. Then technology will follow suit for the benefit for all of us.

Technology applied by elites will ultimately be made to work for the capitalist class. We do not have the right perspectives to make it work for the proletariat.

I've read the book. Nanoparticles will group together, achieve sentience and then just use up all available resources to multiply while failing to develop working space-travel, until everything is dead. This has already happened several times over.
@Neoprenesiren
@Neoprenesiren 2 ай бұрын
Why would it need to gain sentience with such a foolish strategy? It could just as easily devour the planet as a dumb bot or even something like a virus. Basing your paranoia on science fiction instead of science fact.

Was that “Engines of creation” by Kmeric Drexler? I read this in 1986 I think, and it rocked my world. Caused me to sign up for biostasis called Cryonics which I now lead the field in funding assistance/enabling.

I confess I am a little disappointed by the shallowness, negativity, and lack of vision displayed by some of the comments. Of COURSE the early iterations of nanotech won’t solve every human problem. But the potential of science and tech to improve the human condition is enormous, and immanent.

What gets me is when scientists think they can duplicate human brain function with neuron function alone. The brain's neural net is embedded in and modulated by the much larger glial net. This is why I use a biosynthetic neural net embedded in and modulated by a glial net in my Biocore design.

I mean faster cars, more durable batteries, more everything. Except, longevity. How come we didn't advance at all in this field? People are living longer on average but the maximum lifespan remains pretty much the same as it was like 10,000 years ago. Hell my great-grandfather was born in 1887 and died aged 97 in 1984 without any nano technology. And so far nobody in my family beat his lifespan.

I’m ok with surveillance cameras on public streets and public spaces as long as they’re conducting passive surveillance, and not running facial recognition software en mass. But if we allow the authorities to intrude into our private lives in the name of security and safety, we will relinquish more of our freedoms and liberties.

Will the world survive to experience these wonders, haven't we got our priorities messed up. Isn't survival of the all species the main priority???
@scotttracy6840
@scotttracy6840 2 ай бұрын
I agree. Society nowadays is more concerned about which gender (out of 80,331 and counting) they are, rather than what's important. The world's priorities are so bass ackwards it's almost sickening. The world will survive that long, but will there be enough people with half a brain to be able to continue with the growth we need, or will they all be so damn dumb they can't even say 2+2=4. Oh, wait, there are already people that say 2+2=5. I'm not even kidding. There really are people that think that way. Mostly the people that identify as zhe/zer, couches, potatoes, and every animal you can thing of, and every made up word they think is a gender. So, yes, humanity will live long enough to be able to witness it, the real question isn't about longevity. It's about their intelligence, or lack there of, that they won't be able to comprehend anything laid out before them. I hope I'm long gone before those kinds of people take over, but considering our governments in almost every country across the globe over the last couple of decades, we are doomed big time. They are more worried about letting boys that identify as girls get their surgeries and medications to go through with their reassignment surgeries, and worrying about letting boys pee in girls restrooms (I could go all day, but won't), than what's most important to the 99.99% of people in the world. We're doomed! We've already seen those people enter into our governments around the world. I say again, WE ARE DOOMED!!!!!

Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"

I heard about it in the 1990 but was not aware of greatest avenue because the lowest and smallest link everyone of us and everything the link that encompass time and space and save energy in doing it like metal treatment without much waste heat is an example and the human health can be restored in MRI at fast speed and small resolution is magic from skin infections to even smoothness treatment and magic healing

Normally, these videos are good. You messed this one up, putting the expert up on screens that are supposedly somewhere in a Japanese city. The audio was bad as you tried to make it seem that the expert was talking on the screens to the public. It was a bad idea that shouldn't have been used.
