I have emailed you guys 4 times about the inability of being able to tighten the jam nut on my front suspension. Still haven't heard back from you. Terrible that $3000 suspension can't be installed because a wrench will NOT fit in the spring coils like the instruction page claims.

Why don't you explain what the adjustment spanner for the spring is for !?? Adjusting it will do WHAT? For people that don't know .

Ok, so when i do this to set ride height, the rear bounces like worn shocks and hits hard as brick, so i move the shock up one hole and readjusted ride height and get same thing.....whats my problem???

Hi Im a begginer, i just want to ask if I raise my spring seat can I achieve a more comfortable ride? Or it will become stiffer ride?
@kelbaez
@kelbaez 4 жыл бұрын
this is literally what this video is answering. now if you have a shock that has separate adjustment for sprint seat (spring pre-load) and strut height then that's different.

Yes! More suspension travel and better suspension geometry when you raise your coilovers. You will not use the bump stops as much. Your car can take more impacts etc. Only concern is raising them up so much that you can get coil bind on springs before the bump stop gets to it and then you can mess up your car. I like to compress my suspension with no spring and only bump stop to find max bump travel. From there you can fill in the blanks but generally riding closer to stock ride height will have more comfort and better geometry I expect faster too. Generally speaking here. Good luck!

Does this affect ride hight

Yes. Raising or lowering the spring seat will affect your ride height.

I have a question What are the parameters one has you consider while mounting a shock to the chassis(self fabricated one).

but you will limit your down travel.

Dumb answer. Certainly it will make it stiffer as spring will not be able to expand when hit the bumps. So, it will be stiffer. Smaller the expansion stiffer the ride. Larger the expansion more bumpy ride or softer ride.

I thought this too but when you tighten the spanner nut you’re not compressing the spring anymore than it already was. It’s lifting the shock shaft farther out of the body giving you more shock travel. The spring compression remains the same

This guy doesn't know what his talking about. I've recently pre loaded mine due to it being bouncy and exhaust scrape only preloaded it 5mm and the difference is like a different car lot more stiffer / no exhaust scrape

Is it ok to have the front coilovers Lower than the rear will that help with better handling of the car?
@QA1TECH

It depends on the overall setup of the car. But regardless, it won't hurt to try it!

what a wrong information , also saw comments , if you compress spring , your ride get stiffer , base on spring how flexible the spring is and how much it allow you to compress , pressing spring make your rider hard ( stiffer ) also give you lift , because strength of the spring will not allow you to go down more then what it is built for and you might break the spring if you compress more then recommended , longer spring with longer drop of shock will give you lift and smooth rider ,normal factory spring with factory shock if you compress this wont give you smooth ride but little big lift , spacer will give you lift and right will remain same but because hight increase right looses comfort ..

It will make it stiffer. The coil will be under more pressure. Thats how you make the suspension stiffer.We do it all the time racing ATV'S Just like you put a spring spacers in anything it going to make it stiffer.I can't believe you are telling people this.
@henglish3398
@henglish3398 5 жыл бұрын
Bradley Mucher there will be more pressure on the spring yes, but if it’s a linear spring, the spring rate will still be the same won’t it? So the spring can be compressed, but the weight of the body will still affect the spring the same even if it wasn’t compressed due to the fact it’s still the 150lbs per inch or whatever it may be.
@bradleymucher2101
@bradleymucher2101 5 жыл бұрын
So if you put a linear spring in a press and compressed it half way then fully compressed it its going to be the same amount of force.
@henglish3398
@henglish3398 5 жыл бұрын
Bradley Mucher if it it takes 150lbs to compress the spring 1 inch, how is it going to take the same amount of force to compress it 6 inches as it does 12 inches. Wouldn’t it require double the force? So for example compressing it 6 inches would take 900lbs of force while compressing it 12 inches would take 1800 lbs of force. Maybe I’m seeing this wrong. I’m here trying to learn.
@leehedger5056

You cannot change the spring rate of a linear spring by compressing it. If its a 200lb/inch spring then its 200lb for the first inch or the second, third etc hence the rate is written pounds per inch. You can preload a spring by compressing it shorter before installing it, so if you compressed a 200lb spring by 2 inchs then it has 400lb of preloaded tension but it will still only be a 200lb stiff spring.......
@bradleymucher2101

@@henglish3398 then it is not the same. It takes more and more pressure to compress. Thats all im trying to say thats how springs work.
