15 winters of installs here, not one blowoff reported yet. So not too worried. I do not like to install colder than mid 30’s anyway though. Miserable people do less quality work. We start later, tear off, start late the next morning and install once the sun is hitting the roof. On direct sunlight I have seen 120 degree shingles on a 40, degree winter day. We had to be careful not to smear the shingles. A sloppy roofer will mess up the roof every day out of the year. A good roofer will say, we cannot do that roof because the North slopes will not seal. On a 4/12 pitch with ridge running north/south the roof will seal more evenly., then a 7or8 pitch that has an east/west ridge. It has some to do with choosing your winter installs wisely.

I've been thinking the same thing. The weather turned hard when i tore off half of my garage. I sealed the ice & water with a heat gun. Worked very well. I know it's sealed & water tight. Next summer, I'll make sure the shingles seal.

In Ak., we are lucky if the temp ever reaches 65 consistently. But we do get some sun at that temp that might raise it a bit warmer surface temp. 3 months of the year. eeck gads.

Wait, Have you ever seen a TAMKO that actually sealed down….??!!!

Tamko is really bad up here in Wisconsin. This one here might be a IKO, solid seal strip and woven band on the back might make it a dynasty.
