Will Smith slapped Chris Rock after he made a joke about Jada's baldness. Yes, he overreacted to the joke but was he really wrong?

Honestly Jada looks beautiful and the movie/character that Chris Rock compared her too is as well. I understand her being sensitive about her condition, but it really wasn't that bad of a joke.

Agreed but what baffles me is that she did an interview stating she doesn’t give a damn about what someone thinks about her hair.

So it's ok to joke about a disease now just as long as it's not a bad joke? 🤣🤣🤣. Only a simple man would look at Will as a bad guy for what he did for defending the respect for his wife. Regardless of their history together.

I think Will could have handled it by taking him to the back and letting him have it. Did he know Jada had a medical condition? I think Will's reactions were a culmination of a number of things

Man, if only my ancestors was slapped and not hung on trees and babies fed to alligators due to forced labor, and greed -that slapped was just a slap in the face, life goes on. I would ask, where did they learn that from? Was he wrong? yes publicly, or privately he would be out of order (both were). But, we have that grace of apology. That's what family may do. But, unfortunately the dirty laundry was aired.

I don’t know..from what I heard was that Chris rock “didn’t know” about her condition😰..I feel with that “if true” yes! That was wrong for Will to have put his hands on him,ESPECIALLY in that public setting in front of the world and such a important day for everyone it wasn’t just about him that night. Secondly I don’t feel if he did know he would be that malicious to Jada or anyone with a condition that can’t help and be insensitive to crack jokes and think that it would be considered funny..he’s not stupid. Also why I say this because Chris has been through a lot himself in his younger hrs of been talked about even bullied and he carried on graciously and turned his pain into comedy and he made his hurts a reason to make a joke out of it now even if they may had been even true..but guess what he’s RICH now so you can try to clown him all you want especially the ones that were so cruel to him so miss him on that and continue to this man keep clocking them dollars. We all will never for real know if he knew didn’t know only him and jada/will and god up above will know the truth PERIOD! I just know it was very disrespectful and strange p,dude if you were truly offended you would of showed that as soon as it came out his mouth! His tail sat there and laughed..when did it become to much to so call”bare”? What right after she rolled her freakin eyes and maybe even said something under her breath & him knowing how she is at home ..he has to go sleep in her face he knew he better do something or it’s gonna e bad at the crib,he had to prove a point for HER thinking it would impress her. Did it? She then turns around and was saying she didn’t agree to his actions he was wrong..whoa! Hold up when you seen his a** get up and started going towards that stage you could of got up and stopped him..she knew what it was ..girl stop ..she let him set his self up so he can look like a fool & she knew it wasn’t gonna effect him and it didn’t. She’s a freakin mess she couldn’t play with me if I was dude..she’s a nobody compared to Will she knows it and the world knows it and he knows it too ,she has nothing to loose he has it all to loose and that happen too with certain stuff. Smfh..will better be getting it together she’s gonna have him in ruins messing with her non factor tail. Leaving it in gods hands.

People need to be allowed to come to terms with being the brunt of a joke about their appearance and clearly Jada is not there yet. Chris need to apologize to her but I fear that he still don't get it that the joke wasn't funny. Otherwise, that's the least he could have done at his comedy to show his audience who gave him a standing ovation he has understanding for Jada that the "joke" was a mistake.

@cin031790 - Well then explain to us why when Regina Hall made a clear insinuation of their open marriage (by mentioning Jada's name) during a monologue, Will did not check her? The bad part was, (a) Will and Jada laughed at the joke, (b) Regina Hall laughed at the joke, and (c) many in the audience laughed at the joke. So, are you telling everyone reading your comment that Will and Jada are cool with people dissing their marital situation, but not cool when it comes to an issue of her hair being near bald?

@@Blackhairinformation - Not difficult for me, because I've been responsible for the health and welfare of a wife and child, meaning, they depended on me to maintain an income to keep the home stable and predictable. Also, I've had careers where everything I said and did could be judged against me, be it while dealing with the public or dealing with co-workers, supervisors, and subordinates. Will and Jada confirmed that they were in an open relationship, and the situation with August Alsina put a big bullseye on their backs for jokes. Jada and Will were in attendance and sitting in the front row, which even in a comedy club puts you in clear sights for anyone up on stage, notably a comedians, to take swipes at you. And the way it works, if one can land a joke that gets good laughs, know that the next ones who are in need of a cheap laugh might be coming for you. Lastly, Regina Hall's comment directly inferred to their open marriage. The audience responded with laughs, to include Will and Jada, with no show of being offended, but with Chris merely mentioning Jada's bald head, Will responded with an assault. Chris' best option was to not retaliate, because it put him in the best light be it the public and from a civil litigation manner, because had Chris retaliated with violence, and Will slipped and fell which caused serious injury or even death, the burden of justification will fall on Chris, not Will.

Chris Rock is a comedian. That's what they do. I've heard much worse. I stand with Chris because he didn't joke about her alopecia, he joked about the hairstyle and compared it to the GI Jane movie in which Demi Moore starred in. That movie consisted of a woman that shaved her head, went to combat, etc. to show just how compatible and strong of a woman that she was. So in essence, it was a compliment to Jada in the form of a joke. Will Smith was also laughing at the joke and then after looking at Jada giving a smirk, Will decided to play GI Joe. I think he found the joke funny, but at the same time he didn't want his wife to be upset with him for laughing so he had to put on a show. He committed violence and in front of the world. That cannot be right. When Will gave his teary acceptance speech along with an apology (except not to Chris), he's an actor. That's what they do. I guarantee if that was Mike Tyson, The Rock or even a White male standing there instead of Chris then Will Smith would not have done that. I sense that there is more to this dilemma. I just feel it.

@@mildredfaison2710 yes it’s apart of the show comedy. So if ur over sensitive y go Oscar’s when hosted by a comedian, stay at home. I think anyone who can’t take a joke clearly are extremely insecure and low in confidence, that’s not everyone’s problem so insecure ppl should get therapy, there’s help out there for those with hypersensitivity, if I was on their money and a joke comes with that I think I’d jus about have enough change to get therapy. So u think violence is acceptable? Because of a JOKE? a harmless joke, cus whatever hurt U got from the joke u was already damaged before. People dont give offence people choose to TAKE offence, so if the Jade who can’t keep her married legs closed is upset then she made a choice to get offended. So if we stop comedians from making jokes about everything then that means that comedy should be eradicated then what???? Comedy goes and what replaces comedy??? What kind of world is that?!

I'm on Chris side. I didn't know that she have the illness because I don't watch any of her content. A lot of people don't watch her content but we don't know the content. what his did was wrong and now he open the door for anyone to walk up to a stand up stage and hit the comedian. not only that, she was laughing while Chris been assaulted. I see your point about the hair but she said on record that she was strong about this but show disgust when Chris said a joke. that to me is not strong. also doing my research after this incident tell me a lot about Jada. you want your man to protect your but making fun of him on her show? why would I even give that person a single care if they can't do the same thing? you have people who's in wheelchair at comedy show waiting to get clown on, even myself as an atheist want to be joke about in a comedy show. comedian show everyone that your touchable and everyone is equal. if they cant handle the jokes, then why are you here. and yes, the Oscars did hire Chris to do jokes. congratulations to Will but I lost so much respect

IMO Will was wrong. There is so many types of autoimmune diseases out there and hers is the least of the barrel. She don’t get to exclaim she doesn’t give a f about it one day then the next be upset because someone makes a joke about it at her expense. With her money she can get hair plugs, have a wig room for her there is no limit. But for others whose pockets is not deep doesn’t have that luxury. My autoimmune disease attacks my CNS and my pocket doesn’t run deep in fact I might wake up one day unable to move or see. Myself and others don’t have that luxury she does and I don’t seat around a red table making all kind of speeches exclaiming she’s accepts who she is when clearly her vanity is getting in her way. Well I don’t, can’t have that vanity and I can’t attach a wig to my head because when I walk with a Cain or trekking poles or even ride in my scooter I am happy because I am able to do any one of those 3 things today. So suck it up Ms Jada and Will run back to your cushy elaborate house and talk to a shaman again and jump out a plane. While the ones without money and have alopecia and any autoimmune disease live like regular folks.

Chris is a comedian but says he didn’t know about her condition much like many folks including celebrities did not know until now!! But Jada has made it clear that she doesn’t care what people think of her bald head and I’m sure Will was well aware of that fact! IF he really wanted to “protect” his wife, his message would’ve been so much more affective if he’d gone on stage and said why she was bald. Violence is never the answer and it doesn’t send the correct message!! Slapping him said nothing more than he cannot control himself and didn’t learn that you keep your hands to yourself!!! In case no one noticed, Will laughed at the joke until he saw Jada roll her eyes. And then he had a smirk on his face after slapping Chris until he turned around and saw no one was laughing!!! He’s an actor so what does he do?! He pulls out the crocodile tears and claims he’s a “protector” and is here to spread love….REALLY!!!😒That’s all BS!!! Chris could’ve said she looked beautiful bald and Jada would’ve rolled her eyes….They have bad blood btwn them! Will should’ve immediately admitted the slap was a joke gone bad but instead, he flipped the script real quick in order to justify his actions😳He’s an actor and he has permanently scared his image! That was a Punk Move and I lost all respect for him!!!
