I did a bit of research, when cars appeared on our roads petrol owners could only get petrol by the gallon from chemists, hotels and garages before petrol stations arrived 25 years later. Ev's sales started in around 2013 so based on that if we assume a sustainable infrastructure for EV's would be in place then we would be looking at around 2038. We all know how the government love to have endless meetings i can't see Ev's being a viable replacement for combustion engines based on the slow introduction of Charging points until 2050/2060. Maybe there is someone out there more optimistic than myself.

E fuels are currently really expensive and if they do not manage to get it down to reasonable prices then no one will buy it. So, they'll plan on another few years of ICE vehicle manufacture, but what about the fuel for them? Will there be huge price increases and / or large drops in production in favour of some new wonder technology that only the rich can afford? The goal has always been to get rid of personal car ownership (among other things) so I'd take anything the government says with a very large pinch of salt.

I think it is highly likely to get revised, as an industry we are simply not able to shift 100% away from the ICE, what it has done is focus a great many minds in research into alternative fuel and emission reduction. Initially it had a VERY negative impact in that it gutted research funding in the UK, for some time in 2020 we were question if there would be any further research funding going towards ICE emission reduction. Fortunately a co-worker today let me know the EU have revised their ruling to permit E-fuels and alternative source fuels after 2030 which will go a long way to easing the lack of funding for other paths to net zero than just forcing everyone into EVs.

Anyway they have now removed the Hydrogen and EV chargers, can anyone make sense of this as it was a perfect place for the zero emissions vehicles to charge. There was about 10 to 15 chargers. All gone now. Anyway for those interested in checking it out the car park is located above the Tunnel you access T2 and T3. Like I say I am pretty confident anyone could park in there as only taxis like mine display a large licence plate. It is not patrolled.
