@@VtnVivihonestly it just makes me depressed nowadays how hard PlayStation has fallen. Because of it I’ve gone off video games as a result and will only support future video game movie adaptions. Did you see five nights at Freddy’s at all? I honestly really liked it. I mean it wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was a very faithful adaption of the games even though I never really played them however. Just from what I know.

You know I am very glad that Naughty Dog finally considering using their old IP for once. It’s gonna be awesome seeing one of my favorite duos again. My guess is that they miss doing Jak and Daxter becoming a thing so often they even accepted it. And maybe if we’re lucky we can finally get a new Jak and Daxter game even after 2009. Still it ain’t up for me to decide what’s coming but I am very optimistic of what future may happen for them. I just hope Daxter will be played as Max Casella depending on if it’s live action or animated. I mean… I hope it’s animated. Either way, I am really looking forward to this one.

I feel Jak and Daxter, while still holding a place in gamers hearts, would work better as a film if the series was still regularly putting out games... there hasn't been one in 15 years so the film may be an odd choice to adapt when newer gamers aren't all too aware of them. Needs a gaming comeback first before a film is made.

I know that Sony will take care of the distribution of the Zelda film, on Jak And Daxter I have the feeling that very soon the rumors about the film will be put to rest or cancelled, I believe that it will be 4 years of absolute silence as well as Sly Cooper and Ratchet and Clank, I hope that the 25 years of the Jak And Daxter saga give us something, in the meantime naughty dog ​​comes out with the usual remastered of the last of US....

I have a feeling if the movie materializes, it's story will be way more interesting than the Ratchet movie. Not saying it will be great, but the direction the story takes will be less predictable. That, or my 6th sense needs tuning.

I would personally love if they did it animated. Have the story be a retelling of the first game, but with the necessary changes to better fit a movie format. Ideally the make the movie at least 2 hours long, which the opening being Misty Island, Act 1 being a little Sandover Village and then mostly Rock Village with the Klaww fight being the end of it, Act 2 being all in the Volcanic Crater area and flashbacks to, as mentioned in the video, Samos raising Jak and Kiera, how Jak met Daxter and what led Gol and Maia to where they are now, then Act 3 being the Citadel. Have more direct references to the Precursors, the Dark Makers and the Hora Quan/Metal Heads throughout, like on murals, and in pause to read scripts that reveal the story of these three groups. The end of film sting, in my opinion, should be some form of Hora Quan controlled ship crash landing in the wild, be it having Kor inside or not is a different question. Or it should be the Hora Quan ship crashing in the background as Kiera builds the Rift Rider and Rift Gate, with Daxter thinking it’s a shooting star. If a post credit scene is needed/added, have it be the camera slowly panning into the crashed ship, revealing a large Hora Quan egg, implying it to be Kor or another Metal Head that was in charge before Kor.

Honestly I’d rather have game that continues the story and answers some unanswered questions. There are so many unanswered questions like: where are the rest of the precursors?, are the precursors scattered throughout space and time or just space or just time? How many of the precursors remain?what is the dark makers true form if they have one? Do the dark makers resemble any of their precursors selves or little at all? Where are the dark makers hiding? Where did the metal heads come from? Were they grown in a lab or are they apart of nature? What happens to Mar is he dead or alive? Where are Daxter’s parents are they dead, MIA, or unknown? Where is and who is jak’s mother? Is she alive?

I remember hearing rumours about this so long ago, seems to be becoming more legit? Sigh, I'm kinda... hoping not since me and my hubby watched the Uncharted movie recently and it was extremely boring & the characters just did NOT seem like themselves at all (I admit I'm not a huge Uncharted fan who knows all the lore, but my hubby is and he was nitpicking the entire time haha). Then we watched that short fan-made Uncharted film and it was fantastic! So strange how the fan-made one was that much better. And of course, all those years ago I was let down by the Ratchet & Clank movie, since I was so excited for it and then I was extremely underwhelmed by it (he hasnt seen it, but I told him not to bother IF he really disliked the PS4 Game as it was...) yikes! Either way I'd love to see Jak & Daxter return someday, but hopefully in a positive light! Fingers crossed. Same with Sly Cooper.

Getting on a less heavy topic compared to my earlier comment: the Jak & Daxter games were essentially done in a kind of mock-anime meets American animation style which is why I am sceptical about the idea of it being a live action film. I'm not saying it's impossible but my only point of reference is the games which were more stylised; everything kind of looked like a cartoon drawing, albeit with realistic textures, and live action is something which _can_ be stylised but it's a lot harder to get it right than it is with stylised animation; with live action you have to try and place real people into fantasy environments, but with animation the characters just naturally blend in. Setting wise the labels I use for the setting (as in, where each game's story takes place and the kind of world they're set in) are as follows: Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy: - rural steampunk (steampunk being late 1800s and early 1900s technology combined with futuristic elements. Just look at the A-Grav Zoomer and tell me it doesn't look like something you could imagine existing in the early 1900s). Jak II - Cyberpunk (Cyberpunk being a technological futuristic setting, usually dystopian. Like a lot of Cyberpunk games and films this setting tends to be heavily inspired by films like Blade Runner). Jak 3 - Post Apocalyptic (ok, so technically Jak II is also post apocalyptic but the aesthetics are more apparent in Jak 3 with the Wasteland feeling a lot more inspired by the Mad Max films). Jak X - pretty much Cyberpunk again but with a few more rural environments.

I truly hope that there WON'T be a Jak and Daxter movie. Video game movies do not work unless you're actually a big name with a simple premise like Mario and Sonic. If a movie comes out, it'll be a Ratchet and Clank movie all over again, but worse : A quick 90 minutes cash grab but this time it's a soulless live action, none of the people working on the movie played the games ( or they don't like the games and they just want a quick paycheck ) ( and maybe Tom would try to be a decent Jak but heh for the other actors ) and will just shit on the game's logic or completely miss the point of the original story. Honestly, given the current state of PlayStation & non-PlayStation games getting the film & TV treatment. And I might be sounding over-optimistic in this regard, but I don't think the Jak & Daxter film will have a similar fate to Sly or Ratchet. Tho technically, Jak already went through it once, thanks to Ratchet. But the ecosystem for adaptations were very different back then. Especially on the PlayStation front. Now with Last of Us and Twisted Metal getting 2nd seasons, amongst other PS IP's having been announced for films & TV. I'd say it'll be very likely to come to fruition, but preferably in an animated format. Anyway, also wanted to take the time to apologize for not commenting so much. It's just I've had a lot on my plate the past couple of months and... I'm just trying to push through and focus on what I need to. Still, nice to find time to catch-up on videos in between editing. :)

Okay I actually didn't know that Jak & Daxter were getting a movie. While I always root for more videogame adaptations to movies and TV series, knowing PS and its varied works, I worry that it will just be silently canned. Ratched & Clank was a flop, although I loved it. Sly Cooper's movie and TV show is still a pain that didn't get away, so unfair what happened to him. Now Jak and Daxter, I honestly can't see the adaptation as dark, at least with the first game, with the sequels I can, but I really loved the first entry and its fantasious colorful set. At this point, it's a series of unfortunate events when it comes to old and almost forgotted PS franchises, but wishing doesn't cost at all.

The state of Hollywood and, in some cases, film audiences at the moment aren't helping matters either. To clarify, on the Hollywood side of things there's that whole thing with film staff (including actors) not getting paid enough for their work, which means the idea of them wanting to work on a TV show or film that those crusty old executives barely acknowledge the existence of and, as such, won't feel the need to put money into, feels almost absurd. One of the most ridiculous and kind of frightening things that happened recently was Coyote vs. ACME; a Looney Tunes film, got the green light, was ready to hit cinemas across the globe....and then got cancelled for a $30 million tax write off...I try not to use fearmonger tactics but in this case it's hard not to ask: if Hollywood is willing to cancel a film centred around two of the most legendary animated characters in existence; Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner, just for the sake of a tax write off, what hope does Sly Cooper or Jak & Daxter have? As for why I mention film audiences, we kinda suck at forming a consensus regarding what we want to see from our entertainment; one minute we're moaning about yet another MCU film with bland characters and bad storywriting before demanding something more original....but then when we finally get something original we don't go and see it because the trailers put us off. It also doesn't help when, for whatever reason, lazy reaction videos churned out by someone trying to make a quick buck and some of the least imaginative videos on TikTok seem to be gaining ridiculous amounts of popularity whilst content that someone has put their heart and soul into seems to just fly under the radar. Believe it or not I'm an optimist; I choose to believe this is a phase we'll get out of, especially since a lot of people are aware of the situation which means a lot of people feel compelled to do something about it. I'm sure there's pessimists out there (who may or may not veil their pessimism by claiming to be a realist) but quite frankly I've just grown tired of pessimism and would rather look for good and logically sound reasons why things can improve. If there is anything I think we should do to make things better, myself included, it's to support the little guys who truly care about their art. As moronic as Hollywood executives are they usually follow their wallets, and if enough people show a strong interest in independent content they're more likely to put money into it which in turn can lead to an increase in original content. Now yes, I am aware of the elephant in the room which is the fact that these morons chose to reduce the pay given to film staff despite the fact that they practically make the money that keeps those fat cats rich and warm. I am aware that this suggests that they might _not_ follow the money. But quite frankly this doesn't put me off supporting independents because at the end of the day, what have I got to lose? If in the far off future it turns out that supporting the independents made absolutely no impact at all I can at least say that I got to enjoy some new and interesting content, and if the opposite is true and the independents flourish we could end up enjoying a renaissance of great new content.

Rift Apart's RYNO 8, I believe is a portal gun type thing (haven't played it yet) which I read has a chance to summon Jak and Daxter and I think Sly and Bently? So Jak and Sly made it to the ps5 somehow and that's as much of a w for the community as I'm personally expecting.

I hope it doesn't happen in all honesty, it didn't sound like a good idea at all when it was spread across social media, but as a TV adaptation the games can benefit way more in my opinion, animated in CG, bring the original voice artists to portray their characters, no needa hire any Hollywood figures, have one season take place over each game in the series, I guarantee Jak and Daxter as a serialised animated series would do well on Netflix if done faithfully and correctly bro
