I’m in a similar boat to Nick wrt not enjoying anything, and recently I started thinking that men are biologically not supposed to be single or childless at this age, something Marty says on True Detective (“past a certain age, a man without a family can be a bad thing”). You are either supposed to have a kid, who will occupy your entire mind and give your life meaning (which is attested to by everyone, from dead beats to billionaires), or you are supposed to leave for a faraway land to improve the welfare of your community by fighting an enemy tribe. It poses quite a conundrum for us gay guys. You can even see it with Tim Dillon. I’ve heard him talk about his Chinese godson/nephew more times than I can remember. There will never be “the right time” to do it, right now is as good as any. Adam is also right. He said he’d enjoy The Mandalorian “because it’s there”. You are not supposed to enjoy something that was made to inspire 12 year olds for what it is. You are supposed to do it surrounded by your family and friends. You are supposed to talk about it only because it will give you another reason to talk to them (other than their bad habits, the money they owe you, the inheritance you can’t split etc). And as he said, you only realize it after someone you’re supposed to “enjoy” it with passes away.

I totally get where Nick is coming from. I have to push myself to play video games these days, but it’s worth it because I really do still enjoy it, even if it’s not quite as exciting as it was when I was younger. First season of Mando is legitimately great by the way. The rest of the Star Wars TV content, meh.
