Really cool to see that old truck, from what I could tell the VIN number revealed that it was made in St. Louis, not a big surprise, a lot of them I’ve seen in Missouri/Illinois I would’ve been, could not tell what motor by the VIN number, might have to look on the engine, automobile companies need to step up and mass produce a simpler truck nowadays, and inexpensive/basic truck for work, it’s OK to have luxury trucks, but a lot of people just need a simple truck also

When I was a kid my Dad always swapped and traded cars for a little extra money. One vehicle we had for probably 6-12 months was a 61 Chevy truck like this six cylinder with three on the tree. My Mom would load me, my grandma and herself in the front and we'd go to the grocery store or to the laundromat. I'd say these were better suited for farm work. They were not like the pickups of today for sure. Ours had a heater and no other options. Good to see one in original condition.

@tonyscarcare5657 Ай бұрын
I agree. Now, there's probably only a handful of women left who could, or even would drive a three on the tree. I really don't think it's gonna take a lot to make this truck run and drive. I'm really disappointed that it's not getting more views than it is. It's even lost me one subscriber. This youtube thing is really hard to figure out.

@@tonyscarcare5657 I would not worry about it. I am also a Lincoln-Ford fan but I like any original vehicle like this one. Yes my Mom was awesome. Never knew what she would end up with as a driver and took it in stride.

My first vehicle was a 1961 Chevy Carryall. I have a soft spot for the big aero style hoods. The one you have is a nice, well-preserved truck, with a few cool options. Such as having a sun visor on the passengers' side and a deluxe heater.

the 3/4 ton Chev trucks got a rear leaf spring setup, the brochure says. It makes a big deal about the 61 Chev trucks having independent front suspension with ball joints, with an inclusive note to the torsion bar springs... can't compliment Chrysler too much, you know.

I would assume the "T" knob is Throttle. Because its manual choke, one needs throttle for fast idle in colder weather to warm up the engine better. The Throttle control is a cable that possibly connects under dash to the accelerator pedal as i only saw the choke cable and accelerator attached to the carb.

Chevy and GMC pickups of this era had rear coil springs. Ironic that some late-model Dodge Ram 1500 pickups had rear coils. Remember these old trucks when I did farm work for my dad and others.

I got My drivers licence when My Dad had a 1963 GMC & in 1964, they got rid of those knee knockers till 1967 when the style changed. Always liked the styling of those 60's trucks. PS: Do Me a favour Tony. Measure the distance of the headlights to the ground for the height from the ground. to what they are in comparison to the ones now. I know You'll be shocked.

It's pronounced Royce. My dad bought a 1984 Caprice diesel there used in 1987. Mason city Illinois was my dad's home town. My grandma lived there her whole life. She had a house right off the main road, west Chestnut street. I rember going to that dealer with my parents back then to get the car. I was 7 or 8 depending on when in 87 it was. My grandma exclusively bought Chevrolets and i think most if not all of them were from Reuss. I didn't actually know it was spelled that way until this video. I remember in my lifetime she had a 78 Monte Carlo, 79 Caprice, 90 Caprice, 92 Lumina, and finally an 04 Impala.

@tonyscarcare5657 another random fact about that city is the guy who invented T-tops was from there. I own a 95 trans am with t-tops. I did not know that when I bought it. I just went and looked up my grandma's old house on Google maps. I think my aunt still owns it currently.

kind of looks like 137,000 to me... the steering wheel is in good shape but a lot of paint is rubbed off. The pedals... who needs to step on the gas when you got a throttle pull knob? It might be some really stout rubber on the pedals. The seat cover on the bottom, not di-electric embossed like the seat back cover is, and the 61 Chev pickup brochure on the oldcarbrochure website looks to show a matching seat cover for both cusions. Note, this vehicle lacks any of the comfort or dressup trim options in that brochure.

Thanks for the info. Like we said in the video, we don't really know anything about it. However, I did notice something embossed in the seat bottle. It's there. I'll show it in the next video.
