This time we try, or retry, a suggestion someone had that we should give Mikko PediaSure due to her food aversion. As we said before, we are exploring as many different food options as we can with her so she has a better chance of getting all the nutrients she needs. Let's see if this works!

Yes my daughter is like mikko with big sensory needs the pediasure and smoothies don't work on my daughter anymore unfortunately but before she use to love them and i use to use to help keep some fat and vitamins on her for when she wouldn't eat right. She take feeding therapy. One tip the therapy said is try getting her to play and explore with bits of foods or snacks at a time, even touching it is progress. My daughter went from not wanting eggs to eating eggs and it was simply by trying the trick therapy said try adding the tatortots in her eggs for example and serve it to her. It took her some time but now she actually eats eggs now and finally is back to eating rice and sometimes picking at beans too. What i notice with her she doesn't like the mushy or too wet feeling in her foods. She won't go towards anything thick but she likes the sweet foods like pancakes or waffels because the syrup she seems to like getting messy though at times because its sticky so i have to tie hair back and have a wet soapy rag close and change her after. My child likes more crunchy foods if anything like nuggets, fries , pizza bites, she eats broccoli and carrots but not gonna lie it took her awhile for her to get where she was eating everything to then refusing to have foods, to now having some. Its definitely a struggle, I would like to see her eating more healthier but something is better then nothing at this point.

I hear lots of little things that she's trying to say! My little one is 3 and autistic and learning lots of new words also... they are really hard to understand until it clicks in my brain what hes saying and then i hear it all the time. I hear that pre-language development in Mikko as well! So awesome!! Edited to add : Super Simple Songs on YT has been amazing at helping my son learn words and then he slowly starts using those words in everyday communication with me

I'm so glad the nutritional drinks are helping! Perhaps, to get her used to different flavor combinations and helping her discover, try mix half of the banana and strawberry PediaSures together. Just a small and easy way to get her used to such a thing. So proud of you, little Mikko!

The way I cheered when she drank the banana one 🙌🙌🙌🙌 That's so great to see!! Kids tastes change so fast I know it's hard to keep up. I was the same way. Super glad to see she likes them. 👏👏 I noticed when she was having issues with the shirts. Maybe something you can try is to pick out a few outfits ahead of time and lay them out and not have anything else out so she only sees what's out in front of her. Sometimes having too many options can be overwhelming, it is for me. Also consider getting her tops that are a little big on her so that if she wants to put on shirts over sweaters she can. Layering provides a level of comfort for me, makes me feel protected and applies a bit of soothing pressure. I also have issues with clothes that are too tight. My stomach area is sensitive so most of my clothes are technically a size or 2 larger than what I can normally fit into. I've talked with a lot of other Autistic people that do the same thing. Gimme a big oversized hoodie, fluffy pants and warm socks and I'm a happy girl 😁 Again super happy she drank the pedisure!! 👏👏👏🩷

I'm not crying. My allergies are acting up🥹. Omg. Mikko's progress is amazing. It's a reflection and a testament of love, compassion, patience, and understanding. Mom, you are a strong and beautiful woman, wife, and mother whose love and care knows no bounds. You are a selfless, dedicated woman. You do whatever it takes to ensure your children's safety, well-being, and success. You nurture, protect, and give them guidance every day. I would like to take time to acknowledge your other children. They're so humble, intelligent, respectful, compassionate, and patient. Y'all are definitely raising them right. I see Mikko holding full conversations in the near future. Her meltdowns will decrease, and who knows? They may even stop altogether. She will become more confident in her abilities, and that's all due to the fact that she has a loving family that never gave up on her. She is being guided, loved, and supported through every step of this journey. I can see the joy in mom's face whenever Mikko shows progress or does something. Blessings to you all❤

😂 I have 5 children my last is 16.And every last one went through these stages.Being gentle all the time don't work.I think she knows what she can get away with.Beleive me she's smart and will play you.And she will eat when she's hungry.Maybe not what you want her to eat or how often you want.But she will eat.

Are all 5 of your children non verbal, autistic, diapered with tactile sensitivity? This is not just a phase. There are autistic children with feeding tubes because their mind won’t tell them to eat. Don’t project onto this woman’s parenting. The fact that Mikko looks at her, is trying words& now makes eye contact is a miracle.
@katharinafk
@katharinafk 7 ай бұрын
No. This is not just a child being a little moody or manipulative to get her way. This is a child who will be in extreme distress if she has to eat something that she has an aversion to. I would know, i was that child, and i would have literally thrown up, still would. It's not a "dislike", it literally feels like somebody wants you to swallow something that is not edible.

Obviously, if you have an ASD child, they are different than Mikko. You cannot treat neuro-different the same as neurotypical individuals. My two ASD sons are adults and totally different in how they approach the world. One graduated college, works for a famous tech company, but will never be able to live independently, while his younger brother can. One has food aversions even as an adult, and the other aversions to fabric, noise and touch. ASD is a spectrum and every single person is quite different. Phases do not exist as we know them. One son hates ketchup, but likes BBQ sauce. The other would not be alive if had to eat meat due to texture.

She's getting so big and just collecting more and more tools and just doing so good! My youngest who struggles with autism and ADHD is going through this not eating phase and picky phase. At his school they weigh them every Friday cuz certain children are on medication and have dietary needs and all that so about a month ago they realized he lost some weight because he just refuses to eat. So we had to do this whole food program and just a lot of trial and error and just continuously staying on him every hour you want a snack ,are you hungry? We reintroduced old foods that he used to like and stopped liking and so many things. It's gotten a lot better in the past couple weeks he has gained 5 lbs back and he's eating more but it is still a fight sometimes to get him to pick something to eat and just eat. Love Mikko, so glad she's doing so well ❤❤❤

Pecious, at 1:20 Mikko is clearly indicating that she wants to wear the same white top that you are wearing. My daughter is neurotypical. At age 3 she desperately needed ear tubes. She didn't communicate much better than Mikko at the time. It was a constant struggle. "Show me" became the only way that we could communicate until she finally got the ear tubes. I see Mikko communicating more and more. She uses her eyes, her attitude, everything she's got. Beautiful child, beautiful parents, beautiful family.

My 3 year old is big into the helping phase right now. She wants to help with EVERYTHING. So I understand grocery shopping struggles lol. She's also turned into a very picky eater recently so I give her options. I put out 2 or 3 things she likes to eat and let her choose 1. I always make sure there are fruits in the fridge because she will ask for them at any time of the day or night. And I got kids multivitamin gummies from Olly (she thinks they're candy) and she has 1 twice a day. She LOVES them and gets excited when it's time to have one. Maybe something to look into for sweet Mikko ❤

How do you have time to do this all day. Seems like some of her behavior is just a kid being a kid. My grandbaby dont like getting dressed either and is picky about foods. I wouldn't acknowledge her every cry and whine. Dont treat her differently than any other child.She will be expecting that all through her life. I would make it such a big deal, like standing over her waiting for her to not like it or suggesting it taste like medicine. Just my opinion.
