So an idea i've seen others mention that i think could be highly possible, is time travel happening right at the start, but not in the conventional way. Zelda would be in the past, and is probably what happens when she falls. In the most recent trailer, we see her on the circular altar platform with the Master Sword. We know that Link eventually gets to this same altar and is in front of a yellow light with his hand lighting up with recall and he holds the Master Sword out towards the light. The idea here is that, you get Fuse, Ultrahand, and Ascend on the Plateau, and then you come to this altar and are able to talk with Zelda while you are both there at the same time, in different eras. Zelda instructs Link to give her the Master Sword while also giving him the power of Recall. What Zelda knows she must do is repair the Master Sword in the past.

Did Nintendo refute their statement that Age of Calamity is canon? I could have sworn they said it was canon. Editing as i watch with things I notice: There is, in fact, a time gap between BotW and ToTK of at least a few years considering Riju and Tilun are older, so it's entirely possible that these places could have just been rebuilt.

To be fair, Zelda has a rough history with time travel. Time travel in fiction usually either follows the rule that everything that happens with time travel was destined to happen, or that going in the past changes the present. Logic dictates it can't work both ways, but multiple games in the series do. Skyward Sword is probably the least consistent example. Impa is there the entire game from the past yet we can plant a tree that wasn't there in the past, even weirder is that Groose tells us to plant it and acknowledges how cool it looks there. So not only did we change the present, but someone reacts to it as if it just changed in front of their eyes. Plus the Demise fight at the end completely breaks the logic of the entire story as now Demise has been gone before Link ever came to the surface. But then why was Impa there when he first came as she says she's defending the master sword at the ending? Time travel is rough to get right, one of the only shows I ever saw that seemed to get it right was Stein's; Gate but even then the ending was a twisted idea that only kinda works. Still, the main issue again is the fact of consistency. If you make time travel able to change the past, the only threat should be confusion from what impact that change had and not what you were preventing anymore, but if all things from time travel are predestined then time travel can never actually change the past it can only be used to bring things from the past into the future or there should be evidence that what they thought changed actually didn't.

Why is it the most times time travel in Zelda is brought up, no one brings up the most potentially broken relic of all? The Harp of Ages from Oracle of Ages, instrument of the oracle Nayru. The Harp allows for paradox-free time travel constrained to a single worldline. Any events changed in the past with the use of the Harp affect the present in real time, with only those under magical/divine protections able to persist through the changes. It's to the extent that it's implied if Ambi is killed to stop Veran, Ralph would essentially get Thanos'd. If that instrument were to reappear, it would allow for limited change that wouldn't make another mess like OoT's ending.

The potential return of time travel in some form would be exiting for TotK,. I love time travel topics, I just dislike the multiverse crap that everybody seems to be doing lately, lol. Time travel is my favourite part of long-running series and stories, and after BotW's severe lack of story focus TotK is looking like it has the potential to be the best story yet... if they stick the landing. But even if they don't meet all the potential I can see from that last trailer, I'd be satisfied enough with at least a bit of time travel in the story - the dream would be to explore Hyrule in two different time periods so you can really see how things are different, like in Oracle of Ages, but I'd be satisfied with a few decent Timeshift segments.

I sometimes wonder if the people in the Zelda community have a brain, but then I remember a number of them obsessively want a Skyward Sword 2, and I immediately recall that they have no brains, what so ever. How Ocarina of Time did Time Travel: - Singular fixed event - Ganondorf's capture in the past creates the split. > This creates 3 timelines: - One where the Hero does not exist to stop Ganondorf in the past (This is an inevitable timeline) - One where the Hero stops Ganondorf in the past (child timeline) - One where the Hero stops Ganondorf in the future by defeating him and trapping him in the sacred realm with help of the sages (adult timeline) How Skyward Sword did Time Travel: - Multiple fixed events, 8 total events that change the course of each section. > This creates 8 different timeline of events. - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero does not exist or does not stop Ghirahim / Demise - One where the Hero goes back into the past to stop Demise by sealing him in the Master Sword You can be even be bold and claim it creates 9 potential outcomes: - One where Hylia is not a God, but a sage, and cannot gather the sages or the hero...which would permit to the original lore of the series -- Where Zelda's ancestor was an Ancient Sage, not a Goddess. For the record; Nintendo isn't distancing themselves from Ocarina of Time. You wouldn't have Ganondorf as the Villain if they were doing that. You wouldn't have "sages" return, if they were doing that. You wouldn't hear Requiem of Spirit, Nocturne of Shadow, Prelude of Light or Zelda's Lullaby if they were doing that. You wouldn't have the Master Sword with a Temple of Time identical to Ocarina of Time if they were doing that. There has been significantly more evidence within Tears of The Kingdom that they are heavily, and I mean heavily, distancing themselves from Skyward Sword. I'll conclude this with the following: - Theory: Utilizing source material and logical reasoning with valid capability of proof to deduce an idea different than what's being presented. - Speculation: Not having any proof to validate a claim and formulating a theory around this. This is speculation. There will not be "time shift" stones in Tears of The Kingdom, we know this already. What will there be? Well, an idea of it, but not Skyward Sword's massive flaw in plot progression. Otherwise, we know nothing else besides that there will be a specified sort of time manipulation occurring -- which does not permit the capability of branching additional timelines. This directly means: If and how there is time travel is irrelevant -- As it will not (even remotely) be utilized in defeating any major cataclysmic or sizable event in the past, as doing so splits the timeline. A The "present day" Hyrule would be left unchanged, and it would simply split off a new timeline wherein something was stopped in the past. My speculation: It's far more likely Nintendo and the developers are permitting a backstory that would circumvent and discredit the stories told in Skyward Sword within Tears of The Kingdom, which would then lead into the announcement of the third game in the series which would be a prequel to the Zelda entries which would take the place of Skyward Sword; And Skyward Sword will go in it's own separate timeline or be considered "not cannon". I would predict that they will drop a brand new timeline after Tears of The Kingdom releases that shifts many games around such that Ocarina of Time is still "The first game", and events untold are what happen before it, not "Skyward Sword, Minish Cap, Four Swords"; All side quests that shouldn't even be permitted to have in the main timeline, especially not origin stories.
@itsJoshW Жыл бұрын
12:48 ish. "Doesn't create any timeline splits like we see in Ocarina of Time". Ocarina of time only had 2 timeline splits and the inevitable "if this never even happened". Skyward Sword had 3 times that amount. I don't know how to break this to you: But the premise of this video is offputting since you're assuming the role of "Blaming Ocarina of Time" when the issue isn't Ocarina of Time -- it's the reception of the players in 2012 for disliking the horrifyingly bad story that relied on creating 8 different timelines in order to resolve the plot...by retconning half the stories before it. Time travel will exist within a method or two in TOTK. Not in the entirely wacko way as SS, but more aligned with something else that fits their direction. Recall is a form of time manipulation, it's time space-time manipulation. What _is_ space time manipulation, however, is Ascend, which creates a rift between space-time. Will time travel play a role? I believe it's feasible. Will it be something akin to what "theories" state, or what people want out of it (a skyward sword clone)? No. No it won't. That game not just broke all Zelda continuity and retconned most of it's lore -- it also entirely makes the creators look like idiots as they have a timeline split for Ocarina of Time, but not one for the game that splits the timeline in a multitude of ways -- and uses that game as "the first" in the series.
@itsJoshW Жыл бұрын
14:12 Holy f***. You seriously have brain damage. No, that's not how this works. It's not that it didn't "solve everything". it's that it created an alternative timeline due to the events occurring creating a split within the timeline. Schrodinger's theory; Let's do the cat example. Inside of a box, there is a cat both dead and alive at the exact same point. You lifting up the box depicts the outcome of the cat. In one timeline, the cat is alive, in another, the cat is dead. This is relativity. In the context of Ocarina of Time, the reason these timelines occurred is due to the timelines requiring to exist due to the outcomes still existing. If Link never was sent back to the past to warn Zelda, then the only timeline that would exist would be the "adult timeline". The paradox that occurred was Link being sent back in time to warn Zelda. Link time traveled "one time" which changed the course of history. If Link didn't stop Ganondorf in the future, but went back to the past to stop Ganondorf, the future where he "never stopped Ganondorf" would still exist. That's also the Fallen Hero timeline, which is a required events permitted to quantum mechanics -- wherein Link was never sent into the future due to telling Zelda about Ganondorf -- And in this circumstance, the outcome of Zelda choosing to "Capture Ganondorf" is a split decision into two sides: Arrest Ganondorf or do not. The "Fallen Hero" timeline was the timeline in which Link fails to stop Ganondorf as a child (we permit the belief of him dying, in relativity, this is where the decision occurs that Link telling Zelda changed nothing, he was not permitted to help gather the spiritual stones, he failed at doing this task and Ganondorf takes over).

I'm going to say I hope time travel plays almost no part in this game. Time travel is neat, but it takes all tension out, and undermines any efforts Ganon takes to win, assuming he isn't also moment-hopping. If the only way Good can triumph is to literally go back to before Ecil acted, and pull the rug out from under them then, and even when Gdorf has the Triforce of Power (probably), that's just weak. I also don't want major time travel because of the breaks. Since BotW bottlenecks these lines, jumping back to any point within one of those is iffy, and that kind of just leaves way back to Skyward Sword. Since that is hands-down my least favorite Zeld game, I'm still hoping it won't be the only references on here, as well as it could hurt the whole point of the bottleneck, if we'll just mess with things way back then. Personally, I'll just hope that they are mining for luminous stone, and not time ore. Of course, part of this is fear. I've been playing Zelda since the 80s; it's my favorite game series, and I don't want to watch it change significantly, or end. I'm sure plenty of other people are tired of the repeats; of Ganon returning, almost winning, getting sealed again, and waiting for the next iteration, but I'd personally rather lose the source of the games; Shigi, or Nintendo, then have them end it, and who knows what room we'll have for progression after this, depending on what happens to Link, Zelda, Ganon, or the Triforce. I guess I'm just getting old, and nostalgic, and afraid. ☺️

@@EchosOfWhiterun_5555DocOfStyle yes, we do in fact see things from other timelines in botw. But the fact that if this Ganondorf is the exact same from twilight princess, then it puts the entirety of botw and totk into the child timeline. it won't matter that we see things from other timelines show up in botw and totk, if the main antagonist of totk is the same Ganondorf we see in twilight princess. the reason for this is because if it's him, he still remembers that he was stopped from taking over hyrule by the hero of time, and then killed by the hero of twilight decades later. since he would be the same person who experienced all of that which is from the child timeline, it would place everything in to the child timeline. Ganondorf is the the reason why we have 3 split timelines. One where he wins the fight against the hero of time, one where he dies to the hero of time, and another where he is imprisoned. 4:47 Omg, you are the only person I see with that logical conclusion except of myself. Finally someone mentioned it 6:18 oh man, you ruined it. Of course Age of Calamity is Canon. First of all the events that Terrako traveled back in time was shown in the moment when Zelda was awaking her sealing power in Breath of the wild. Second: Terrako had the returning of the calamity in its memory, so Robelo and Purah could analyzed the datas and Zelda and Impa could see how Hyrule burns to the ground: it wasn’t’ the future they saw. It was the past of Breath of the wild for 100 years ago. The Timeline where Age of Calamity takes has another future, when we finished the game. But that means Age of Calamity and Breath of the Wild coexist together. And third: Nintendo actually worked side by side with Omega force and lead them to the story. That makes Age of Calamity canon. I agree, the first Warriors Game isn’t canon, but the events of Age of Calamity happens because of Breath of the wild Timetravel. It is inevitable that Terrako is activated when Zelda awakens her power. See the cutscenes again if necessary. The Legend of Zelda is built on parallel worlds, your own video is about that topic 😐 If anyone thinks Age of Calamity isn’t Canon, and the Story messed up with Botw’s then it isn’t Nintendos fault, it is the own ignorance of some people. We didn’t see that Terrako even existed in Botw because it isn’t important for the Story of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. If Age of Calamity messed up and doesn’t belong to the Legend of Zelda in your opinion, then all games after Ocarina of Time, respectively any Zelda Game after Skyward Sword isn’t canon either because there was time travel too…

I feel like some sort of time travel will be in ToTK

Skyward Sword was literally the last console game before Breath of the Wild.... can't really play they used to card.
@drwily Жыл бұрын
Well I can because nintendo clearly has shown intentions to clean up their act, again no time travel in botw and all timelines mentioned as part of the soft reboot

No offense to people who like it but I don't like the time travel theory in totk. It is really cool but I just for some reason don't want it in totk.
@drwily Жыл бұрын
Same mostly because it can become a cheap cop out, or makes the lore a mess again
@TrueKoalaKnight Жыл бұрын
OMG, really? The two Links "theory"? No. There are not two Links in two time periods. It's just Link in a Zonai costume. In a game where there are costumes the player character can wear and swap at any time, that is evidence of nothing.

Just throwing arguments for the time travel stuff out there, doesn't mean I believe them
@Manueh205 Жыл бұрын
Oh no. No more time travel and parallel universes. That ruined Age of Calamity 😢
@HipnotikHylian Жыл бұрын
No it didn't 😂. You're just a hater.
@cato3277 Жыл бұрын
It did, but mostly because it completely removed it from the canon. These are two different cases entirely.

100%, aoc has an ass story with zero stakes and only cheap cop.outs
