Will We Ever Find An Original Gibson Moderne?

I have an Epiphone Korina Moderne with the V headstock and it’s a total badass. It’ll do whatever you need it to….and then some.

I love the Moderne. I've been fascinated with it ever since I first heard of it back in the '80's. I have 2: A 2012 "reissue" and a recent Epiphone version. I've always thought that there's one stuck in a barn or attic of a former Gibson employee in the Kalamazoo area who bought it for parts, or was allowed to keep it. I doubt that it is a complete guitar, though.

Dude same, I have the 2012 gibson, the epiphone , but what started it all is 76 Ibanez Moderne, I bought it new and it is still pretty bad asz all these years later ,kinda crazy about these guitars I also have an epiphone poly moderne with floyd type trem and 2 chibsons with gumby headstock one with a fake floyd, I am working on an aged cherry 2018 gibson if I can make a deal with the owner.

Great video, Rob. Even though I'm not much of a guitarist (I'm a piano player, so I can really only play slide), this is something I've always thought about, ever since I heard of the Moderne. The Gibson Modernistic models are kind of beautiful, in a weird, almost disturbing way. They don't sound too bad, either. I kind of agree with you, but I'll hold out hope. Don't know why, if one does exist, it's not like I can ever afford it in 20 lifetimes, but a musician can dream...

Even the reissues have gotten expensive! They are pretty cool. Just a fun mystery that will probably never get solved.

If you Google "Billy Gibbons Moderne", there are lots of images of him playing it live. He's said he takes it out on tour. So lots of people have seen it. Do you mean he hasn't let anyone try to authenticate it? It has a "G" on the headstock.@@robdisner
