The bigger problem is your entire government is bought off. The amount of money we spend on military and corporate interests in insurance, pharmaceutical, medical, oil, is several times over more significant than what we spend on migrants.

So true, if you had 250k in savings in 2019, that same 250k is realistically worth about $175k now. Even high producing ETFs and mutual funds can barely keep up with inflation. So unless your 250k in saving grew to 325k you lost money. Most people’s saving just get erased or devalued by inflation

The amount being spent on these illegal migrants (which I disagree with) is still a fraction of our military spending and the money we essentially hand out to privately owned banks, insurance companies, and big pharmaceutical/medicinal companies. Corporate greed is the problem in America, not political affiliation like the elites make you think. It’s all a big distraction so they can keep stealing your own tax money from under you under the guise of “free market hurr durr”

I retired at 60 and am now 79. I believe one can make decisions that move one toward retirement. I have always owned an economy car; I have never owned a smart phone, a dishwasher, a cable television subscription. I have lived in modest housing. I have limited costly vacation excursions--trips to Japan, New Zealand and Peru were made without dipping into savings. I don't mind buying clothes from thrift stores or resale shops--that is a philosophical decision based on the waste, extravagance and other-directedness I see. I am aware that there are young people who would say that my life is not a life worth living, completely unsatisfactory. My point is: there are possible decisions. It should be apparent that I have freedom as a result of being able to save a sum of money.

People can't retire because they trust the government with their retirement. Invest in yourself and yes you can retire and fairly young. Don't waste money on superficial stuff. Don't accrue debt. If you count on the government for anything you deserve what you get in the end.

Peoples are trapped in the consumerism cirle and are buying everything that the marketing is showing to us … Of course you can not retire if your mindset is to want and buy all the stupid things that the corporations come on the market , things that you actually don’t need so much … The change is in educating us not to be trapped in this endless desires of goods to make us feel fullfilled

I was lucky enough to retire in my late 50's. Now at 67 my savings and the nest egg my parents left me, with the prices today, especially FOOD, it's getting low. After 40yrs of construction in the Florida sun the U.S. government has graced me with $1000 a month. Guess what? NOBODY can live on that! Ever wonder why old people are so thin? Eating lots of pasta, beans and rice!

I've adapted to my position now at work. At first, every cell in my body dreaded getting up to go to work. I had to grit my teeth and drag myself out of bed out of sheer willpower. Now, I've grown to enjoy my job and position at work. Gotten close to my coworkers, and other vendors I work with. We tell stories and joke and just shoot the bullshit. Also, talk business, which makes us stay grounded. Gives me purpose now. Now, it's not so hard getting out of bed. Adaptation is real, and makes things better.

I am a lady who is turning 39 in late December. I may retire in my mid/late 60s, according to the current Italian laws. But they may be different, by the time I got to that age. I know it may sound nihilistic or anything else, but I'd rather die instead of seeing them. At least, if I die before my 70s, I have no longer burdens to handle. That's the only comforting thing and it isn't nice. I live with my parents because living alone is impossible. That's my only luck.

Bull Hansen You could make lots more money by publishing your Viking novels in English. England has had a long history with the Vikings. " Sweyn Forkbeard Most people have heard of the Danish king of England, Canute (Cnut the Great) who according to legend, tried to command the waves. However it was his father Sweyn (Svein) who was the first Viking king of England. Sweyn Forkbeard, England's forgotten king, ruled for just 5 weeks. "

I was born in 1959 in Australia. From the time when I was a child I knew I wanted to retire at 40. I started work as an office clerk at 16 and studied at night to be an accountant. I was a tightarse. I wouldn't spend money on anything that wasn't absolutely necessary. All my savings went into buying a block of land and I did this at 19. My father and I with the help of contractors who I paid ( other than my father's time, nothing was free ) built my house. I still live in this house. I paid off the house when I was 25. Every cent I earned wasn't wasted but went into the mortgage. I worked full time at a job I hated but then retired from full time work at 36 to travel the world with my wife. This is something we had both put on the Backburner up to then. I've never owned a fancy car until now. I still travel domestically and abroad with my wife, I'm now 65 nearly 66. I'm proof that an ordinary person in a safe western country can achieve middle class with hard work, patience, focus and initial sacrifice. You've gotta have a plan.....

Save in Bitcoin. Very few people alive today know the power of hard money. If you think Bitcoin is too expensive then know you can invest as little as $1. 1500 Sats = $1. Govt hates it because they can't touch it. Most exchanges support the Lightning network and the transfer fees are close to nothing. Keep the Bitcoin in your own wallet. The cost of everything falls against Bitcoin. Bitcoin represents freedom and hope. By the way, I am 75 and all my savings are in Bitcoin. My costs keep falling year after year. It's amazing.

I am retired. However, I don't think it will be far harder for my children. I think the biggest thing is no mortgage on a home (and renting costs are now massive), enough money to cover health costs/insurance for 30 years included (my largest cost in the US is insurance); and a simpler life. Bjorn's other advice makes good sense. If you have a way to make a bit of extra money that's a great thing.

As it stands I’m positioning for retirement with 24 years of service, a maximum 30 years of service benefits payout of 75 percent of work income for life. Benefits can begin (retirement) at age 50 and I’m 48, so I can retire at 50 or wait and get the maximum payout at 53. I really want to get out of the city I currently live in as it’s made world wide news with migrants taking over apartment complexes, so maybe retire sooner rather than later…..

The migrants aren’t so lucky where my partner and I live. I won’t disclose my location, but you better believe, they are sitting around the corner with their signs panhandling. Yes, they have shelter at night at the local homeless shelters, but have to leave by 8:00 a.m. They get minimum help, but no hotel accommodations. They’re treated like the local homeless. Some of the big cities in the US are treating migrants better than their own citizens.

In Britain, the wages are too low to even contemplate taking on a job. Jobs cost money to maintain, lots of money. I gave up working in 2007 on the realisation that I was never going to be paid properly for what I do. Britain has the lowest pensions in the civilised world, and every day is a struggle with the world's highest prices for everything. I regularly tell people to stop working, to give up their useless jobs because everything they earn goes to the idle rich like the political class and the CEOs of corporations. If only people would stop slaving, these greedy idle bastards and dictators would be gone in two weeks. Herr Starmer is living it up on our wages and accepting bribes from thieving corporate crooks who steal our money.

Families have been driven apart, but for hundreds of years we lived together. The houses are not made properly to be conducive to a large family, but you can make it that way. A piece of land with many families on it and one common area. We built a small house for 4000. A big outdoor area is next on out list. We have 4 houses on the land now various sizes. I see a large fireplace, with a stone wall on one side under a gazebo of sorts and an outdoor kitchen. We have three fenced in garden areas. It does not take a lot of money to sustain, and many things can be easily produced there for sale. Those who participate get a share. We must come back to our families, our dear friends- like our congregations. Small groups with similar beliefs, customs, laws(which are only practices of respecting one another)
