I finished eating my first batch this weekend. I followed the directions to a 'T' and it turned out perfectly. In fact, no separation at all into curds and whey. Naturally, I used the half and half - I don't think I will fool with the perfection. I just did my second batch this afternoon - I expanded the recipe to make 3 qts vice 1 qt. I just added some extra tablets I had plus some starter from the first batch. The 8 qt. Instant Pot Pro will fit 4 qt mason jars - it is advisable to put a small wash rag between the glass bottles. It helps the climate control for the jars not to touch - I learned this when I use to can and ferment lots of foods some years ago. Btw, the process is supriseingly easy and very quick once you have assembled everything. Btw, use 4 qt jars to make 3 qts - always leave space at the top of the jar - never completely full.

I’ve been eating this “almost” daily for the past 3 weeks. I missed two days in a row pre Thanksgiving (and slept terribly might I add) and yesterday. Getting back on track today now that all the leftovers are gone, lol. I had been struggling with sleep the past year or so which was so foreign to me. I just felt not tired and got up 2-3 times a night to pee. Day 2 of eating this magical “yogurt” I started sleeping perfectly. I’d close my eyes and when I woke up it was morning! After about a week of this I decided to wear a smart watch to analyze my actual sleep patterns. I get a perfect rating every morning and my deep sleep is always above normal. I get up once to pee (sometimes not even) and get right back to sleep. The feeling of waking up and asking Alexa what time it is and it’s always between 6:00-6:30 is astounding to me! Game changer for sure, can’t wait to see what other benefits I get from it!

Question about mixing strains for anyone who knows: I am now making Shirota, L Reuteri, and Gasseri yogurts. I make them separately to get the highest bacteria yields. Does it matter of these are eaten at the same time or should they be spaced apart? Do they compete with one another? Also, eating a half cup of full half-and-half yogurt for each may be a bit too much fat, even for me:) Can you ferment longer than 36 hours to get even more bacteria and lower the serving amount? I have noticed that the appetite regulation Dr. Davis talks about only happens with the half and half not whole milk so for me anyway, I think the lowered appetite has more to do with eating gobs of fat than the bacteria itself. Just an observation.

Good question. I made them separately myself mixed them together in a cup. The batches came out beautiful because I set the temperature exact to the recommendation for that strain.

They work together and interact within the human body, so I'd presume they're doing the same thing anywhere else. There are, however, good and bad bacteria those do produce completely different chemicals from each other, compete with each other, and prefer differing environments than one the other.

@@opdgrow4life Yes, obviously. They are not just not the same strain, but L. reuteri and L. rhamnosus are not even the same species. (You'll even notice the genus designators are different words and spelled differently, although, yes, both start with an 'r' and have three syllables.) Other providers of information on health maintenance and improvement make the claim that the presence of L. rhamnosus in the gut provides measurable protection against stress (which isn't one of the salient effects of the strains of L. reuteri that Dr. Davis discusses). Since making my original posting asking about "future projects" about two years ago I've realized it's probably best just to consume L. rhamnosus in capsule form. I've also become aware of other probiotics with other beneficial effects, including Akkermansia (which protects the mucus lining of the gut) and Bifidobacterium lactis, which produces a polyamine called spermidine, which is beneficial in effecting healthy longevity. There are others, but I don't remember them offhand. More recently Dr. Davis has released Super Gut, which discusses a variety of beneficial species and strains of probiotics (and I haven't even ordered that book yet).

You may be on to something here. Without wishing to present this as a randomized control trial I recently embarked on my first try with LR and got some interesting results. I used my Lakeland yoghurt maker (uk brand)and discovered some surprising results. First of all my yoghurt came out thick and delicious despite my suspicion the 38C setting was woefully inaccurate. It may be my individual machine, it does produce lovely Greek yogurt on the standard setting. I'd estimate the actual fermentation temperature was much lower than 38C. So the 64 million dollar question would be if this wasn't LR right out of the gate was there enough residual strains available in the environment or attached to the inulin to produce such a successful result? It begs a further experimentation. Batch 2 was made in an instant pot with some of the previous culture plus a capsule of LR. Again success and this time I was more confident of reaching the optimum temperature conditions. I've just picked up a Luvele Pure from ebay to continue the journey. I'm planning to use my vitamix to make various plant milks for use with LR. Watch this as space.

Hi there 😀 I make it with 1 liter/quart organic soy milk, only soy and water!, 2 teaspoon xylitol, 1 teaspoon psyllium husk powder, mix it well into a slurry in 37 degrees celsius soy milk, then pour it into the rest of the milk, then into my crockpot on sous vide program on 37 degrees celsius, for 36 hours, it worked fine, and taste fine as well 😀👍 Hope this helps!. I cant do cows milk as well! Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰

My weightlifting gym performance after taking this was surprising to say the least. Out of all the supplements I've taken throughout the years there is nothing that has improved my performance like this. I researched l reuteri online and read it increases testosterone in men and realized why I was performing so well. Pretty cool! I imagine it's what people feel like in the gym after doing steroid protocol.

Bought a Luvele yogurt maker and some Bio Gaia .... Made my first batch using single cream and inulin and 10 x bio gaia ..... it seperated so i stirred it and put in the fridge it's very smelly and sour and looks more like cottage cheese have added it to smoothies and the taste is bearable , so i'm going to use 2 tablespoons of it for my next batch ..my question is do i need to use another 10 x bio gaia tablets for my second batch aswell as the 2 x table spoons? I'm in the UK so cant get hold of half and half .. what is everyone else using ? i tried single cream for my last batch .. was that wrong ?? open to suggestions . Thanks in advance

I used Sainsbury's So Organic full fat milk......however I have to heat it to 82°C for 20mins to kill any remaining bacteria...the 50/50 used in the US is ultra pasteurised therfore it was recommended to heat the full fat milk that we have. Used a sous vide instead of the insta pot as it gives a more consistent temperature. Just waiting now only 20 hours left....I'll let you know how it turns out

1st batch was whey and curds 2nd batch was perfect!

You only need the tablets for the 1st batch

No. The fermentation produce oxytocin.

Dr. Davis, Thank you for all you do, love the yogurt. Since buying your book, I have been making this creamy dessert for sometime now. Can you explain if the yogurt has any benefit or negative effect on fibrous plaque in the carotid arteries? I am 54 I have be diagnosed with 70% blockage on my left side. I would like to know that along with cutting wheat is the consumption of the yogurt beneficial to a person like me?
@LTPottenger3 жыл бұрын
The immune system is required to clear the blockage so it will help, but you will only clear the blockage completely with some fasting of at leat 72 hours at a time.

Question for Dr. Davis or makers of the sugar-blocking probiotic Dr. Davis' friends makes: Can this product be fermented into yogurt also. I would like to buy it but it would be prohibitively expensive to take exclusively without being able to ferment it. Thanks

I have tried making it twice & had it not turn out both times. My chooks got it the first time. The second failed batch I’m pressing into cheese. I am in Australia so, cannot source ultra pasteurised milk but I heated my milk to 180 f then cooled it down to 100 f before adding to inulin & crushed tablets. I used my sous vide set to 100 f for 36 hours. I have 10 more tablets left so, I will try again. Frustrating when many, many people are making it successfully….

Joy, hope by now you’ve succeeded. My first three batches were problematic. Each time 1 jar out of 2 was foul. My later batches were perfect though. I disinfect using my dishwasher.

I have had great success using half and half. My very first batch I did not use the Biogaia and that smelled and tasted so bad. Then I used the biogaia and am on the fourth batch and it’s thick, creamy, less sour and delicious. You should use your cheese bacteria for the next batch it will be delicious…. Add one tbsp or so of the inulin and your second batch culture. It should work and be better than using the tablets. Also sat my sous vide to 102.5. My first batch I did at 100 and it failed and stunk. Don’t give up.

@ I had to do 4 batches using the same messed up culture over and over before getting it right. Everything was sterilized in my dishwasher so I have no idea why consecutive batches were bad in one jar out of 2 and the other jar was a bit off.

Thank you Dr. Davis. May I ask why not just take the gastrus supplement directly? Why is it important to make a yogurt out of it?
@6789uiop4 жыл бұрын
The Gastrus tablets don't have much L. reuteri at all. But a good starter.
@renekukard9279Ай бұрын
The yogurt makes the oxytocin. That’s what you want for benefits.

Dang I typed a long response and it disappeared! I try to fast 18 hours a day and make the yogurt my first “meal.” This is the first and only yogurt I have made. The sleep scene is just so unbelievable, I hope it works for you as well.

I'm totally shocked that apparently there hasn't been a single person to test the CFU of 6475 in the yogurt. This has incredible potential, so why wouldnt any of the high profile proponents actually have a CFU test done (Dr. William Davis) ? I would think it's crucial to have a general idea of the potential CFU count of reutri 6475 in each batch. Has anyone done this yet? If not, I will....
@eddiep50783 жыл бұрын
It would be different depending on how long it was left to culture and temperature and other conditions

So using tablets only does not help at all? More l.reuteri is needed via fermentation?
@williamandersson76382 ай бұрын
Not at all, but it will go from hundred millions to billions. And you can use the old batch to keep on generating more. Saving money. Also much easier for body to absorb in yoghurt form .

I have been making this yoghurt for about 3 weeks but for some unknown reason i cannot get it to set properly. Always have part firm, part liquid. Any advice?

Sterilize every thing, I heated the milk to 110 to start my batch from the second failed or separated batch, about a half cup of that yogurt, plus three Gai tabs. I set it in a bowl in the oven with light on farthest away from the gulf, cracked the door to stay constant at 100. Don’t touch it or probe with thermometer. Perfect, tangy, creamy.

I just watched a video on making l. reuteri and it talks about Dr Davies saying how to make it so the liquid does not to separate. In the video, an immersion blender and gelatin powder were used. The liquid in the video is coconut milk but it should be the same case for cow's milk. Video is titled - L. Reuteri Coconut Milk "Yoghurt" by Indigo Nili.

Has anyone tried combining L. Reuteri RC-14 with the L. Reuteri Gastrus strains? How do you know whether they are compatible?
@averagebodybuilder Жыл бұрын
I tried to ferment half and half with L Reuteri twice. Both times it tasted very wierd and unpleasant. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Is this the way it is supposed to be? I used the BioGaia pills as my starter.

When making this yogurt, does it go directly into the fridge once the 36 hours is up?
@amybair32057 ай бұрын
Yes, for 12 hrs. I put a code filter on a strainer, put the yogurt on top, then set the strainer over a bowl, & put in the fridge. We like it thick. I’ve been using the whey to make subsequent batches. It’s been great!
