Hurricane Log Haul, Did I Over Load My Ford F-150?

Hey folks!
In this video i take a trip to Hurricane West Virginia to pick up a load of logs i purchased off Facebook marketplace. When I got there I realized the pictures didn't do the ad justice in showing how much there really was there. I was an hour from home and didn't want to make an extra trip so we squeezed them all on the trailer and when i started towing it realized i may have overloaded the truck. Along with some camera troubles and a white knuckle drive home everything ended up working out good.

3:35 never load rear heavy, it is really dangerous. Thats why it swayed. It is simple physics. Im glad nothing happened!

It was swaying because of the rear heavy load. I was told you always want more tongue weight than tail weight. I hailed a big commercial zero turn on the end of my trailer once and it got so squirrelly I almost wrecked. On the front of the trailer from here on out.

I think it was just to heavy everywhere, the truck was almost squatted to the bump stops, lol.

You can figure the square footage of your trailer and how many face cords you can get in it. If you know the species of trees, then you can determine the weight per each face cord. It makes a difference as to whether the wood was green or somewhat dry, of course. However, just looking at what I could see from my perspective, I’d guesstimate your load being in the 12,000 range (not including your trailer). I’m curious as to what engine you have in that Ford and what your maximum conventional tow rating is? This new breed of half-ton trucks has some unbelievable numbers compared to just 20 years ago.

It has the 3.5 eco boost the 2011 year had up to 11300 tow rating depending on configuration but mine actually is right at 10k

Kinda scared me for a minute when I saw the back of your truck coming up. I thought when you were dumping the trailer it was going to pick up your rear tires off the ground. Or make it so light it would scoot over the hill. Thanks for the video I really enjoyed watching it.

Lol it did lift a bit but I left the truck in 4wd and brake set so it would lock the front to in case it did get a little light in the rear.
