I'm a Coldplay fan and I'm certainly no hater. I checked the comments to this video and I can't find any haters. Coldplay's fanbase gets a reputation of being only a bunch of teenage girls that can't appreciate anything other than what they're used to, and I don't think that accurately reflects how Coldplay fans really are. As a Coldplay fan I can confirm Willie did this good justice.

Ode todeodorant When I first found this version I remember people saying he butchered the song,don't know if that's still around tho.But I just looked thru the comments and found one person saying "this version is autotuned to hell" and that it sucks.A third person just plainly said it sucks.

To my adored son; Losing you took the roar out of my lion heart, the sun out of my sky...I am not capable of understanding why you were taken away so young, I cannot express to the universe enough how meaningful, amazing and good you were, now everyday is cruel...it’s brutal, your absence is like an elephant on my chest...I miss you, Oh god, I miss you so much! I have accepted life gets no better than the 20 amazing years, I was blessed with you. I promise to honor your life and one day sweet boy, I will hold you again...I know you are with me because I wouldn’t still be here if you weren’t. I have 3 kids, ages 12, 10 and 8, and your comment hit me in the chest like a wrecking ball... I cannot begin to imagine that pain, and how it will never leave you, and it halts my breath to think of your words about your son... no parent should ever have to bury their child... I usually don't comment online, but I am so incredibly sorry for what you've lost and what you will have to carry with you... I cannot imagine any scenario where you can find a fraction of peace, and that is truly tragic. Yours is the definition of heartbreak...

I was almost crying, and than i read your comment..have just moved to the neighboring room. I am who I am ... you are whom you are, That which we were to one another, We will always be. Call me by my name. Speak to me like you've always did. Don't use a different tone ... Don't take that look; solemn or sad. Continue to laugh at that which made us laugh together. Pray, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be pronounced at home, As it always was, Without pomposity or gloom. Life is still the same, It is what it always was The string has not been cut. Why should I be away from your thoughts? Just because I am away from your sight? I am not far, just on the other side of the road.. You see, every thing is fine ... Wipe your tears and cry no more. When Willie Nelson picks a song to cover he has impeccable taste! He knows the songs that will fit his voice like a glove. The original artists must have mixed emotions though - on one hand so honored to have a legend pick their work to perform, and on the other hand feeling like they just a child, because that song now belongs to Willie!
@tarrahyoung424 ай бұрын
I absolutely agree! What an honor for Willie to pick a piece of someone’s art that he wanted to give it a go himself!!! I think it’s incredible. Artists and musicians have their own love language. Covering a song is a way of saying that I love your work. I don’t believe there’s a derogatory emotion in that at all. It’s a huge compliment to the original artists.

You and your life are an addition to the memories of joy, sadness and lessons to be learned in this life. To have had such an impact is an honor we all have. We just dont realize it until its too late. Make sure you tell them you love them and that all your sacrifices were worth it to see them become who they are now. To see the fruits of all of those long nights at work, all the days away from home, all the stress felt over bills and food money was all worth it.

In that inimitable voice always smelling of nicotine and broken heart, Willie Nelson demonstrates the art of holding a song before releasing it, like a fish you catch and slowly let go. His version of The Scientist grows like a sad bubble in your throat until the pain becomes a escape hatch from the past. Drink this song like the last drop of whiskey and let memories of a woman you have loved and lost wash over you.

I will always fantasize about this, not in a sexual way, He just has always been there for me. I listen to this as I continually mourn my father's passing in 2008. As it pertains our story in life, it makes me wonder about the many out here who could have written these same words... I just sent this song to my 87 yr old father who lost his wife (my Mother) of 63 years. I lost her Sept 14th, 2021. Almost one year now. While she was on hospice the last year he had to give her breathing treatments every 5 hours and manage all her medications, cook for her, do the wash and clean the house as well as wait on her (constantly). He would just look at me and say " do you think it's easy". I never knew two people more in love and dedicated to each other than my Mother & my Father. He is lost without her and I can't even imagine the pain and loneliness in his soul. Hard part for me was that they live in Indiana and I in TX and I didn't get home in time to say goodbye and my Father is so far away from me. Best parents in the world. Love you both with all my heart & soul. Karen, your 1st born.

The slide and surrounding guitars here are something to behold. They climb and flow in and out of each other with sheer beauty and grace. Thankyou for loving the song so much that you created this Willie. Its making me think of another incredible song reworking and video from a close buddy of yours...Hurt.

Listening to him sing while listening to the comments of loss makes this song hit so much more. I lost my mother to cancer last year a week before Christmas I catch myself looking for her or waiting for her call or text daily. Music has a way of making you feel when it’s done right.

There’s something about This version , Mr. Willie Nelson sang. It grappled my soul .. I love the original as well. But this version clicked something different in me . Since the 70 till the late 90’s. All I liked to list to is rock ,classic rock, the blues , some R&B. I did like some old country songs Whalen Jennings, Kenny Toger and dolly even the(excuse my language ) the ass hole , Glen Campbell , ( ya’ll May have heard the verison he sang with stone temple pilots. Your really really needs to listen to. If you loved this you would love the version STP, did Glenn , Wichita Lineman ) I’ll post the link to it in a minute. But as I was saying before , my kids lived and grown up in the deep south ,, the Bible Belt, if you will ( I’m from New England) and 3 out of 4 id say really really, love country music , So threw them , I gain to like country music ,more and more , threw the years, I began to even love the country music . Have a told respect for the soul most country singer put into there work. But I have to say , after listening To this song that willie covered, (brilliantly) that Hans down Nelson is my Favorite Country Artist to date.. August 31, 2020 . I did a little research , and seen a glimps into his past, and found out he had a lot of tragedies his life. So much hard ache and heart break, through the years, years that seem to fly by so fast , like everything happen a few weeks ago . And your mind still thinks it’s 21. When I first listened, and watched this video , a little in the song , tears literal tears came rolling down my cheeks , clouding my eyes. This song made me realize how fast life goes , and reminds me of all The hurts along the way l. How distance I am with my kids be cause there mom and I split up . since then my kids have grown up and have there own lives, like every kid does. I miss my kids. Even when i just see only 3 out of 4 of them a couple hours ago. The song reminded me of how much time that has went by , me and there mother split a long time ago. And I’ve seen less and less of them. I’ve missed a lot of things a lot of Christmas morning , talking about there days at dinner .. ect. Willie vocals in this song grip my heart tight. And it made me appreciate all the beautiful things I did share with my kids . And gave me hope we will be together and have fun once again . Thank you Willie Nelson. I hope I get to see you live in concert ones day , my friend. Your friend KFR. Peace to you Willie✌🏼

You should watch the commercial that Chipotle made with this song. It was before they went all corporate and big. Perhaps their CEO should watch it to show him what Chipotle used to be about.
