Big user of salvaged shelves here, i'm really only just now getting comfortable with the whole using floor entities as shelving thing since i've been on a kick of making the most efficient bases i can. I'm great at making cores that you can fit insane amounts of stuff in, more than you would ever believe would fit in there, and making hyperefficient power systems but i just can't get honeycombing down to where i'm happy with the upkeep cost vs base strength

That's interesting what you're saying about the game changing with garage doors. I've never even played rust but I've watched enough of your videos that I can see how the old way of base building would be more enjoyable to watch. It seems like it would make every base a puzzle to explore. Kind of like each player is building their own dungeon for you to loot. People would be more incentivized to follow the path they made for both them and you. People would be more likely to appreciate the little tricks and traps that have been laid out for them and have fun building traps. I would have enjoyed seeing that version of Rust.

Couldn't you just use rockets from far enough away to not get hit, seems like it would be really niche, cool idea tho for sure

@ethandavies9039Ай бұрын
@MaximusSavage6969 it could work but I believe his point was bases are TOO hard to raid so they just become the same everytime to fit the "meta" So buffing walls and keeping garage doors the same would probably make the situation worse

I think better solution would be buffing walls than nerfing garage doors, because with stronger baseline bases raids take longer, giving you more time to fight back or for counters to arrive.

I think a solution to the honeycombpocalypse is to let players reinforce walls with extra layers for more strength. For less resources than it would cost to add honeycomb you just reinforce a wall with a thin layer of extra material that will stack to the outside of the wall. It will cause the hardside to protrude slightly more each time, and block more building off of that wall so people can't then honeycomb on top of it also. You'd have to pick one or the other. Honeycomb could leave you more flexibility still but would be more expensive. It would be harder to gauge the amount of explosives you'd need for a reinforced wall as you can't just count the layers like with honeycomb. Adds new dynamic.

Even if you limit how many players available in a clan, they'll just use discord anyway. Besides, it's easier to detect cheaters this way. But playing as a solo in a 1000+ players server is a daredevil who wanted some challenge. Perfect for a veteran like Willy.

I like to build bases into cliffs. They are always freestyled, sometimes frustrating, but no base so far has looked the same. And there are some pretty amazing cliffs with niches, where you can really cramp your TC so far into a mountain and wall it off, it gets really hard to raid as well. And best of all, sometimes they are quite hidden, even have trees in front of them, or beautiful views. I always like to add a little balcony with a chair and bbq grill for relaxing sunsets or sunrises.
