Agree - I was trying to categorise the music but the description 'indie funk jazz’ will never catch on!

Relax. It’s not a new genre. Thousands have combined these influences before her. It’s interesting to see her put out an album that is decidedly NOT pop, and draws on some more sophisticated influences. But it’s NOT a new genre. You can hear her influences very clearly. She is doing something far more interesting than other artists in her position might have chosen to do but she is still finding her voice.

Willow smith is a talented artist, “looking for her joy” is one way to put it. But her music is so meaningful to me it’s like finding yourself accepting yourself trusting the flow of your life to vibrate high regardless of negativity, healing your mental trusting life as you experience it through your eyes. Taking time with yourself in solitude, being patient with yourself Is the way I would describe willows music to me that’s how her songs makes me feel it’s inspiring. I love Willow down. 💚ok bye.

Willow, thank you for blessing us with this amazing album. This is my favorite song on the album thus far. You are truly an amazing artist who transcends boundaries and music genres. To think that you’ve been in the music game for almost 15 years and it still is only the beginning is a testament to the amazing woman you are. You bless my ears every time you drop a project and I truly love you and all that you bring to the world of music. Never stop making music my beautiful Afro punk queen. ❤️❤️❤️👑🎸

I'm ready One, two [Pre-Chorus] Sometimes, I don't wanna try To calm the chaos inside And I just let out a sigh, I just sigh Don't know why, but it feels right Flowing free like the sea I can just sit here and be And only listen to me, it's just me In this moment of the purest devotion [Chorus] Shutting off my mind, feel there is no time When I arrive right here Everything is here, no need to try Palms to the earth because I feel her breathe Syncing to a rhythm between I and she It's the perfect dеsign [Bridge] Don't ask questions When life's еxpressing Itself through you and speaking the truth I said don't ask questions (Don't ask why) [Pre-Chorus] Sometimes, I don't wanna try To calm the chaos inside And I just let out a sigh, I just sigh Don't know why, but it feels right Flowing free like the sea I can just sit here and be And only listen to me, it's just me In this moment of the purest devotion [Chorus] Palms to the earth because I feel her breathe Syncing to a rhythm between I and she It's the perfect design

She's the new age female Zappa
@ruairidhsaunders7 ай бұрын
Respectfully, she’s not anything like Zappa. She’s a great artist in her own right, but Frank Zappa is FAR more off the wall than this. Not necessarily better, as that’s subjective, but definitely stranger by design. This is more akin to other contemporary jazz artists like Esperanza Spalding/Tank and the Bangas. She’s experimenting and it’s great to see! It’s all really good music.

I love Willow but she's nothing like Zappa. There's so many other artist you could've compared her too. Specifically singers.
