I think you need a triangular piece above the door to keep bobcats, foxes, desperate coyote out.
@bettablue26604 жыл бұрын
Jake Pickett ...I agree one hundred percent. Coyotes are very hungry up there right now, along with every other predator. Most people don’t know how high coyotes can jump straight up. Crazy high!
@bettablue26604 жыл бұрын
Jake Pickett ...they actually can jump up tp 13+. I’m an animal rehab volunteer and have learned lots about our wildlife. It’s the end of winter and these guys are desperate. I hop all stays well for them.

Little P can fly! We use the Wyze cameras around our farm. I'm stalking my donkey right now! I hope things go smoothly with Willow, Will we have to wait until Thursday for the baby video? Maybe a special Wednesday edition? Blessings to all.

I'm watching , for the first time, from my computer monitor. My wife and I have been watching, together, on our 75 in living room TV. I have never been able to read or leave comments until now. We enjoy following your progress as you grow you homestead. Keep up the good work.
@southalabamafishingchannel23524 жыл бұрын
We have been following you guys for about two years now. I found your channel because I was looking for a video on, How to build a chicken tractor. I watched your $30 chicken tractor video and that was it. My wife said to me , " wow, that guy is very organized, you should pay attention and learn something!" been watching every since. But no amount of watching is going to make me as organized as Al Lumnah! Al is somewhat of a perfectionist and I'm a "that'll do" guy. LOL!!!!
@southalabamafishingchannel23524 жыл бұрын
Told my wife, " I'm going to build a new Chicken coop" she said, " maybe you should hire someone with some skills, like Al, we know how your chicken coop is going to turn out!" I said " yep, your right!" So, if I could get Al to come down to South Alabama, to build me a chicken coop!

You work harder doing all this than most folks do working outside the home...so we appreciate you taking us along, inspiring and teaching while you learn stuff yourself. You all have done a phenomenal job!!! Tip of the hat 🎩! Now let’s get the job done Willow!!😁 And the pigs 🐖!! Let’s not forget the pigs 🐷!! Stay safe and healthy! Our prayers for you all!

Good afternoon New Ham Shire .... hope Willow is doing well. Little P is showing you what a goat can do when they want to ... she's always been a jumper as you well know. Best of luck with all your farm goings on ... btw ... I would plug that hole above the door in the birthing stall .... bobcats can get through just about anything they can squeeze their head through. Take care AL, Gina & Olivia.

I believe that a coyote could easily get through that opening above the door. You have the skills to make a wedge for that area. Then you can rest easy knowing that the stall is critter proof.

Good morning Al ,Gina and Olivia. Excellent job on the goat birthing bay! Reminds me of horse stalls. And the camera is a great way to check. I remember my former neighbor would put a baby monitor in the sheep stalls. That was back in the 1970s! Now it feels like I have taken a trip back in time, as we implement all those Mother Earth skills we learned back then. We used to barter goods and services, since none of us had any surplus money! I can see that returning. The internet has given you a wonderful platform to teach people how to homestead. It is invaluable, especially today.

Glad yall fixed that, it had me worried, but I would block that space above the door too, a bobcat can easily get up through there. I have had bobcat issues, they are stealthy. Hope Willow delivers with no issues.
@TheUserid824 жыл бұрын
With them jumping out the open top doors would it be worth it to make replacement doors for the summer months using the same fencing you used for securing the birthing stall? A nice screen door for the goats to let air in and keep them from getting out.

Love the camera! We use a dozen of them to monitor the coop, run, coop yard, piggery, etc. and find them to be a wonderful addition. We use Blue Iris software to connect them all together, for motion detection, recording and streaming. We have had okay results with connecting the cameras with wireless, but find they work a lot better when they are wired if they are in a location that will support the wires.

Goooooooo Morning Al , Gina & Olivia , I am a little bit jealous , I am well into Spring down here in Ohio and I have not yet seen a Robin. I have spread out some materials for nest building but so far , no Robins. A light spring snow ! Not so welcome but it does make your farm appear to be so nice and clean. Oh Oh ! That tells me that the goats can go over the perimeter fence any time that they get a notion to. They may also be like , " follow the leader " , lol The male goats sure have a lot of hay spread around their paddock !

How did I miss this video? The baby stall even has a window. Cute! Thinking other small predators though: owls, and bobcats. Bobcats are ambush predators that frequent wildlife paths to prey on rodents to white tailed deer. Their diet includes mice, squirrels, woodchucks, moles, shrews, raccoons, foxes, domestic cats, grouse, various bird species, reptiles, porcupines and skunks.
