100% agree that there needs to be an ability to turn the inverter back on automatically. I learned this by starting as a novice to solar by getting the AC200P for my unattended out-of-state off-grid camping setup. I loved it right until the first time there were a few rainy days in a row while I was gone, and the inverter shut off. That meant no remote monitoring or power for anything else there until I could return.

I’ve been using some EcoFlow products for a few months now, a couple of delta pro/s, delta mini/s and delta 1300 as well as river pro and some smaller jackery units. In my case since all devices are hooked up to solar via xt60 connectors, I appreciate the Wi-Fi capability of some of the EcoFlow products as the unit will turn on automatically when solar energy is detected. So if a unit ran out of stored energy, I let it charge up to a certain level and can remotely turn on any outlets via the app. Seems like the same functionality needs to be added to the a/c input of the delta pro to allow for additional usability Edit: and of course, thank you for all you do for the DIY solar community, without you am not sure I would be this adventurous with solar, thx for making it simple and sharing all the knowledge it is greatly appreciated!

The Ecoflow Delta Pro is only 98 lbs. That is nothing compared to throwing 1 or 2 X 100lb bags of feed over one's shoulders on a regular basis on the farm without hurting oneself. I could see a person on weight restrictions or an elderly person having an issue with lifting the EcoFlow Delta Pro but the thing weighs less than my 3000 watt honda gas generator that is around 130lbs and even that is light enough for one person to lift with both hands onto the back of the pickup without a hassle.

I just tested. So I ran my ac200max down to zero but the Bluetti stayed on because it was connected to the charger. That is when the AC powered on at 5% I think. I just now ran it down to zero without any supplemental power, the solar generator powered off, and when I turned it back on, it failed to turn on the AC output even at 7%. I had to turn the AC inverter on manually. Bummer.

A good review. Always keep in mind, the EcoFlow system is for mobile applications and temporary house backup. As such it’s capacity limitations and high price can be justified. For a stationary system, the EG4 and server rack batteries will beat the EcoFlow any day, except for setup speed (which is [largely] irrelevant in a permanent system but important in a mobile system). The expansion batteries in particular are overpriced given that they are non functional as a stand alone battery. Using server rack batteries with their own mppt for charging us a great way to expand the EcoFlow capacity. Question: can you take the EcoFlow appart and wire a (or multiple) “other” batteries to it? This would be particularly useful for all the solar generators that don’t use LiFePoS. I have the Delta (1300) and only getting 500 charge cycles to 80% is a hard sell at those prices. Comparing the Delta to Max to Pro, the price increase is in lockstep with battery capacity. However the 5-7 times better cycle life of the Pro makes it reasonably priced or the other units really expensive. So when my 500 cycles are up, I really want to connect a new better battery to it.

I contacted Ecoflow support about running my well pump. It normally runs at 240V and 7 amps. Startup surge is 240V, 22 amps or 5280 watts for about 1 second. They advised me that the 7200 watt surge rating of the Ecoflow Delta Pro is for a maximum duration of 0.36 seconds. So a soft start control may be required for some applications to avoid overloading the Ecoflow.

One more downside, even with the firmware and app updates, they charging and discharging of the DP and the EB is still quite uneven. Sometimes my DP is at 85%, while the EB is only at 40-50%. I know EcoFlow is working on that, but it has me wondering if I should sell and build my own system. I want to bring up a problem I found with the new Delta 2. Here is the info I sent to EcoFlow. I want to bring up a problem I have found with the new EcoFlow Delta 2 that might be something many different people will run into. I, like many other people, have bought one of the most common renogy solar panels online. I will post a copy of the specs below of these panels. I am a previous owner of the original Delta and have recently upgraded to the Delta 2. The problem comes with the configuration of solar input amps and volts into the new Delta 2. I previously charged the original delta using three of these 100w renogy solar panels. To meet the original specifications of the ef delta (solar input 400w 65v 10A), I would wire my three solar panels in series to create 61.2v and 4.91A coming into the delta. As you are probably fully aware, it is safer and more efficient to run lower amps and higher volts across a wire. With the new setup on the ef delta 2 (solar input 500w 60v 15A), running these same solar panels in series creating the 61.2v and 4.91A is overloading the voltage for the new system. With the change in the configuration of the delta 2, re-wiring the panels in parallel makes them fall within the specifications. These three panels in parallel now create 20.4v at 14.73A. This setup is highly inefficient and creates a greater safety risk by running such high amps through wire. This new configuration has cut my solar efficiency down by nearly 75w and has increased the risk of fire by running the wires at nearly their rated amp capacity. Solution: when all is said and done, these solar panels that I am using are some of the most widely purchased panels on the market. I am fairly certain that there will be many people that run into this problem. I hope that this is a problem that could be fixed with a software update by rearranging the limits of allowed input voltage and amps. I would really like to see a feature in the software that would let you make this change very similar to how we can currently adjust the AC voltage input. If there were a way, in the software, for me to slightly increase the solar voltage input and thus lower the amp input at the same time, this would fix the problem and should still keep the delta well within its input capabilities. I hope this finds its way to the correct team and I really hope to see this change in the near future. I am very impressed with the ecoflow brand and engineering. I like the idea of the power kits. (We own a small rv and a LARGE generator that we lug in and out at each stop to run the AC) but the cost is so crazy… I assume the same will ring true for the power kits. I’d love the idea of a 6500w EG4 and a couple of the EG4 WP… which would be far superior and more capability… oh and cheaper I’m sure.

Any chance to get detail infos on how to connect a separate battery bank (different brand) to the Ecoflow. And to use 2 delta pro 220v so we can run the well pump. Are we stuck having to use the wall unit they offer or is there a way around that.

I agree with all you have noticed with this Ecoflow system. I have two Pros and 4 batteries.... and am now running the Ecoflow Home Panel to supply supplemental energy to the house (and for grid downs). One thing I have not seen covered is Kwh tests. Have you done those? I am finding that this complete system when everything is fully charged (2 Pros and 4 batteries) is giving me just about a THIRD of advertised use-time. I now have to check each Pro separately, and the batteries too (could take some days) but the advertised 21.6 Kwh is nowhere NEAR being reached. Power runs out at less than half of this. Have you (Will) or others noticed this? To me it's a biggie. If the grid goes down, this set up will last less than HALF the time it is advertised to last unless solar is input (I live in Ohio so that could be an issue without a hot-line to God) or the Ecoflow gas generator is used. 21.6 Kwh when two Delta Pros and 4 batteries are charged up suggests to me.... 21.6 Kwh. I'm getting half or less that that. The Home Panel tells me how much has been drawn. Have you checked the Kwh claims?

Will awesome video, I have 2 Delta Pro and I recently got and had installed the Ecoflow Smart Home Panel, I have mine on a rack that has wheels so makes my life so much easier. Also, for my uses I haven't found the cabling to be an issue, but what I was a little frustrated by was that you can't use two ecoflow Delta Pros you can't make one a slave to the other to use it as a battery backup. That was a real bummer when I found this out. However, the biggest factor to me was having a mobile solar generator where even though the other solution you proposed are cheaper if you stay in place, but there's a lot of value to me that in an emergency or situation I can at least take my power generators with me if I need to. So for that reason that's why I considered the ecoflow the superior solution, provided that obviously one has the money to be able to do it.

Daxzus, how does the Smart home panel work out now after 2 months of use? I am looking at the SHP in combination with the new power hub and 3x 5kWh Battery 's...
@daxzus971
@daxzus971 2 жыл бұрын
@@frankgrunder8242 So far so good, but sadly haven't had any power outages other than my mock-up testing. My biggest complaint is that if I leave my Delt Pros on standby, the batteries get drained by 2% per day. So I have to leave them off and manually turn them on. Also, I have the SHP wired to be able to fast charge the Delta Pros, but it never seems to do it automatically and I have to manually use the app to turn on the charging. My SHP is very close to my circuit panel and the provided cables from EcoFlow are very short, the electrician had to use jumpers which is not ideal. Ecoflow should have made them two feet or longer to better accommodate allowing the SHP to be further from the circuit panel. Ultimately, do I feel it was worth it? My whole cost was about $11,000 ($6,300 for two delta pros) ($1,800 SHP) ($1,300 for 3 solar panels)($1,600 for the electrician to install the SHP) - honestly, I have mixed feelings. For example, I could have bought a 3 fuel source generator for under $1,000, bought the ten-circuit backup panel for $600, and had it installed for $1,000, and that generator would run (loudly) for 10 hours for a cost under $3,000. So, from a value perspective, I don't feel I'm as happy as I thought I would be. It's nice to have the solar to hook up, but even under ideal circumstances I've never been able to get back to 100% charge in a day for one of my Delta Pros and I have three 200w solar panels, and that's with me exhausting myself for the day trying to chase the sun to get the most amount of charge. I help this helps, if you have more questions, feel free - I'm happy to help.

Great video! The only issue I find with the DYI vs the Ecoflo Delta is you have to be aware of the startup volts. If you have a small system you may not meet the required start-up volts for most of the hybrid inverters. However Delta's startup volts for solar is 10 volts so most people even on a cloudy day should be able to get the volts to charge the Delta when the power is out. With the DYI inverters, you would have to have a few large panels to charge it up during a power outage and cloudy day. Your thought would be appreciated.
