Another smashing recovery video:
• A Smashing Recovery
Watch the look in its eyes at the end. Hummingbird trapped in our garage overnight, he got dehydrated and tired, fell to floor and collapsed. Fed him homemade nectar all day and released him when he was able to fly.

Awesome. And you just never know. I think most Reincarnation beliefs think that if you'd already been a human, and a good one, you'd at least come back as another human not an animal. BUT, what if you're given a choice?...perhaps they'd never had the experience of being hummingbirds, and wanted to try it at least once. 😊🙏

Yrs ago I saved a Hummingbird that flew into a garage I was working in, got disoriented...flew up to get out but kept hitting the ceiling, panicked then sat on a steel beam...20ft off the floor...my buddy held a tall step ladder while I retrieved him, dipping a finger on either side of him....I carried him down the ladder and to the open back door...He looked at freedom, the outside, but stayed on my hand as I gently cradled him...felt like minute, then exploded out of my hand and took off. One of my best days on Earth, by far...😇

Now we don't know if there's any connection but hummingbirds buzz us all the time...hovering at face height just 2-3 feet away when we're in the yard and they come right up to the window to look at us. It's very cool.

For anyone who finds a hummingbird like this. The recipe is 4 parts water to 1 part sugar. First boil the water, remember to account for evaporation. After boiling the water, shut off the flame and mix the sugar. Stir well so all the sugar dissolves. Once the sugar dissolves let the water cool and reach room temp. Once cooled you can let the hummingbird have it. If you have a syringe like this person did that works. Just brace it against something so it's more stable. You don't need to put the birds entire beck in the tip. Just bring it close, it's tongue can do the rest.

The humming bird was starving to death. They Eat A lot. Hummingbirds have a very high metabolism and must eat all day long just to survive. They consume about half their body weight in bugs and nectar, feeding every 10-15 minutes and visiting 1,000-2,000 flowers throughout the day. I love and have pet birds. I have African Finches about the same size and God Bless you for your efforts and patience and for saving it's life.

Ennhhh, Yes'n'No? Hummingbird (and there are a beautiful varieties of them!) have an INSANE metabolic rate. They need make a frequent but not constant intake value. What's amazing is some the things they do! When active, their hearts beat, if I recall correctly... Something, like... 200-600 times a minute? But, during sleep, their metabolism and heartrate drop shockingly. Additionally, there is a species of humming bird, that travels between North and South Americas. Flying over the OCEAN to achieve this!

I did something as a child.. maybe 8 or 9.. we had an above ground swimming pool, and there were usually a few drowned bugs floating that you had to scoop out before you went swimming.. One day, there was about a dozen black and yellow bees.. not sure what kind.. I thought they would be great for school.. I got a piece of cardboard and covered it with tin foil.. then took each bee and lined them up by size.. Then I got some straight pins from my mom's sewing stuff.. and I stuck pin through the smallest bee and then into the cardboard.. so the bee was suspended about half an inch above the foil.. I had a couple rows of bees and was proud of my project.. I left it outside on the picnic table.. when my mom got home, I went out to get it, to show her, and to my horror, half the bees were alive and buzzing, wings vibrating, legs moving.. I was stunned, sickened, almost.. and I couldn't believe I was responsible .. I honestly don't remember what I did next, but to this day I cant even touch a dead or dying creature

I had a beautiful experience with a hummingbird last week. I was watering my garden after a long dry spell, using a hose that I had on the lowest "gentle shower" setting. Suddenly a hummingbird swooped in and started to dart in and out around the water as it came out. Then he moved in close and hovered so that he could drink directly from one of the gentle streams. I froze and let him drink until he was done at which point he took off. It was magical!

I saved a hummingbird that couldn't fly and was trapped in the limestone dust of a parking lot. I captured him with my bare hands and took him home and nursed him for four hours then when he could fly, I released him. As he flew away I told him to visit soon. The next year and for the following 12 years, we have had swarms of hummers to the point that one feeder wasn't enough. We put up the "race track", seven feeders that wrapped around our tiny house and love every one that visits. I was born able to relate to wild animals. My first saved wild creature was a white duck from a pond where my father was buried. I was four. I am almost sixty now and am unable to continue due to health issues but every day I think about the animals I saved, the ones I lost and the inspiration to others to do the selfless act of caring for what can't take care of itself. Blessings.

There is a little female hummingbird that comes to my window EVERY SPRING. She flutters in place until she knows I have seen her and she does this to tell me she is back for the summer. When her feeder needs more nectar, she flutters in place at the window for me to see her tell me this. She amazes me! I doubt I am the only human she has trained in this fashion! She is very territorial too! She will not let any other hummingbirds near 'her' feeder. I buy her a nice, new one every year with the features she seems to like the most, like perches. She actually likes to sit on a perch instead of flying in place to eat. I love her! I look forward to seeing her every spring.

Same happened to me. Walked into the garage to see him making loops. He began to get tired and rested on the little ledges of the garage door. I had water in a container on the ready and he began to drink. You could see his tiny tongue dart through to the water. I let him fly away and I went to get a hummingbird feeder and some nectar and then he returned. With three friends :)

I did something like this with a bee. I went to my balcony one morning and saw a drowned bee in the water, which was ice, from my drink the previous night. I lifted him up on my finger and let him dry in the morning sun. I gently blew on his wings. Presently, I found some jam and let him eat some. It was awesome to feel his tiny tongue on my finger. After about an hour he flew away. It made me happy.

Once at an outdoor restaurant, a butterfly landed on my table. Put a cube of watermelon in front of it and watched extend its spiraled tongue and poke at the watermelon a few times before finding a spot it liked. It moved its tongue around a few times more, each time repeating the poke-around-for-a-good-spot method, then flew off again. Got some pretty good pics too. prnt.sc/uq9dng

Guys, stop saying the bird looks like he is drunk or dancing. Hummingbirds will die if they do not eat for more than 12-16 hours. He is literally about to die- the man saves his life with that sugar water. That's why they have to eat so much. Unless a hummingbird has also been eating a lot of insects instead of only nectar, they need to eat every 15-45 minutes on the dot, or they will lose all their energy and die. They are such little beasts, dude. They barely get any sleep and they snore when they sleep and make little tiny peeps, it's the most adorable thing on Earth.

@@Itsunclegabby facts. Humanity has proven that the amount of good people bring to the world outweighs the bad by a large margin, or the world would have been destroyed already. It proves humans are generally good people. The amount of damage we could do to each other is catastrophic, yet somehow we all exist in a time where there has never been so much abundance than any other time in reality. It is truly a blessing

I found a mantis in a spiderweb in my house once, there was no longer a spider in the web but the mantis was totally stuck so I grab it out the web and took it outside and set it on the fence post but it jumped back on my arm, I then learned mantids can show gratitude with a facial expression which was cute to see from one of nature's more perfect killing machines.

Similar story here, but the mantis was tiny and obviously a baby stuck in some trash, so I took it out, and eventually it just started walking on me and not freaking out. When I tried to let it go, it touched the bush and backed up onto my arm again, but it eventually left. A few days later or so, there was a full grown Mantis in our garage and actually crawled onto my arm without panic, so I like to think it was the same praying mantis.

Some humming birds really tread the line between life at death at night. I saw a special where the one has to eat every 20 mins and go into a hibernation of sorts at night and if they don't eat when they wake up immediately they can die. They are also super vulnerable in the hibernation state to being eaten
